What is so different between this "religion" and any other established religion?

All churches extract money from their congregations and exert mind control in one form or another.

Fair point about the Deductible Gift status. If you are serious, why don't you declare yourselves a "church"? This is not hard to do and the ATO rules have dramatically changed regarding the "public benevolence test", whereby all you need to do to pass this test is claim that you are "praying for the greater good".
