i wanted to join the Marines for a long time until i heard about the Rangers. the reason now that i want to join the army instead is becuase rangers get to go to airborne school and jump out of airplanes and thats what ive always wanted to do and the Marines rarley get deployed from the air.
@ThePayton34 hey rangers are some tough shit before you even qualify you have to graduate airborne school then you may be able to go to ranger school maybe but ranger school is hell on earth you will hallucinate literally fall asleep on your feet trek 20 miles carrying 75 pounds of gear while on a time limit go 15 miles through the everglades not to mention everything else not trying to unconvince you but if your only in it because you wanna jump outa planes it isnt for you
Im thinking about going into the Army, I turn 18 in January id go for training as soon as school ends in June, can anyone give me what life is like after and during training? Im watching youtube videos, but that doesnt give me what a true story is like.
@turtleownage It depends on your MOS, where you're stationed, your Unit, your Commander, and your fellow soldiers. There are alot of factors - but no matter how bad, it's still fuckin' awesome.
WWWHHHOOOOOHHHH i remember the days of hell week. DAMN i was scared to be in this situation for the first couple days. But after the third day it got easy and a little slower as well. Man i cant wait to go back i would love to do basic all over again WITH A BIG ASS SMILE ON MY FUCKIN FACE!!!!!! HOOH. DELTA 2/46 DS Freeman was a scary dude.

@7sabot That's awesome. I was in the exact same unit except I was in 2nd PLT. 2001. 19K drills are freaking insane. Most of mine were Desert Storm vets. Good Times.
@7sabot Yeah Most of us were 17-18 yrs old and Heartbreak just about killed us. Our senior drill who probably weighed about 180-190 lbs with a full combat load, dragged a private up that hill with one arm. Just crazy.
Honestly I have a fairly small size penis as an Asian compared to a normal American. This is my biggest concern for joining the army. I am not comfortable when =.= my teammates make fun of my lower part =.=.
@hellagunner1 haha. Joke's on you, Sir. I technically dont do BCT. I'm an ROTC cadet. Bt I know, nd I anticipate getting over that as fast as possible. No room for hesitation when I'm the one leading my Soldiers.
@usnamarinegirl916 ROTC and BCT are not one bit similar... you will be all hooah hooah the first week telling each other what your MOS is than on the 2nd or 3rd week if you havent figured out basic yet you will hate each other.
@Hongichhan Bro, when u get to reception, there will be guys from all over the globe, Rule #1 your drills will teach is "That from now on, none of you are black, white, asian, hispanic green pink whatever, You are ALL ACU GREEN from now on"! Fear not bro! First friend I made was from Saipan, great guy. Ended up being my "Loader" in 2003..
@Rava20817 each platoon is given a letter. they go in order bt instead of using the standard american letters, the phonetic (or Nato, military) alphabet. A= Alpha, B= Bravo, C= Charlie, D= Delta, E= Echo, F= Foxtrot, and so on...
@CaptainAmerica322 I know that, I'm just meant it was the first day so it looks easier compared to what they're going to experience in the coming weeks. You see, I'm going into the Army so that's why I watched this in the first place, to see what I'm going to experience at least.
I apologize for posting that comment about this being easy. I was just being a dumb hater. I really do appreciate all the work, and training that soldiers do to protect our country so please just forget about what i said before.
haha this was the cycle after mine! i was a 2nd plt. outlaw... DS Babineaux, DS Johnson, DS Hill, and DS Medders... i recognized DS Johnsons voice AS SOON as i heard it lol
Delta 2/46 July 2003...ages ago. Can't forget those Korean war-era buildings. Got out, went to college, now going back in a few months as an LT. As much as I bitch about the Army, it seriously has been the greatest opportunity of my entire life. Don't let it pass you by.
@xifumouse Well, I'm not in the service, but I would imagine that you shower in groups, because they aren't going to give you the luxury of your own personal shower. Back about 20 years ago, it was common to shower with other guys in school (after gym class), if you played sports, went to gyms, anything. Homophobia changed that.
@bootwithabackpack why don't you go to BT and see you couldn't handle the first day and by the end lol you will want your cell phone back to call your family and you won't be able to, there will be no wife to come home to at the end of everyday or a nice comfortable bed either. its not just the physical part of the training that is hard its the mental part as well I say 50/50 on both I guarantee this fact!

I'm a 14 year old kid and I'm new to this stuff, I'm thinking of joining the army but I don't know anything about it yet! I'm just watching videos on YouTube and some movies to understand it better, care to explain the "branches"? Because I don't understand it, I would really be thank full!
No I am 26 and am 6'1" and now weight 270lbs. When we started I weight 305lbs and could barely do 7 pushups now I can do 40 without stopping and my mile time is down to about 9:35. The Army will take you up till 41..if you think you're out of shape get with your recruiter and he should work with you to get you in shape like mine is.
