Metallica has sold more albums than any of these bands. they were the founders of thrash metal not metal although they are reffered to as the gods of metal. i personally think that after they realeased master of puppets they were done they went to an alternative style. enter sandman for example.and also people say lars sucks at drums, try to get in front of hundreds of thousands of people and play drums.

So if I worked at vh1, and I was using what seems to be their criteria (commercial impact and metal influence; blurring the lines between hard rock and metal) this is how I would fix the list:

1. Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Dio (might be cheating, but whatever).

2. Led Zeppelin (hey, their list had ac/dc and kiss; this is the most influential and popular hard rock band ever; their influence extends to metal).

3. Metallica (pioneered thrash, have the hugeness to headline stadiums).

Poison and Motley Crue, but no Slayer. That's a joke! Sabbath, Ozzy, and Dio (or at least Sab abd Oz) should be combined and be #1. Kiss and AC/DC are cool (I especially like the latter), but if hard rock bands like those are on the list, then Van Halen and Led Zeppelin (who along w/ Sabbath are the all time most influential band on the genre) need to be on the list too.
