  • This is awesome!!!! Not many screw ups and the harmony was great despite you learning the wrong ones!! In ONE NIGHT of playing that your fantastic!!! Also your facial expressions are cool!!

  • nice cover....the suhr pedal seems extremely versatile. How do you like the pedal versus the distortion on just the amp?

  • Improvising is the way to do it man. The outro solo you made was awesome!!

  • Actually, I like the improvised outro solo.

  • You sir are AWESOME!!!!

  • make me a rock face!

  • Man, I think you can do whatever you want. As in you *can*. Don't even respond to those chumps.

  • I think you did an awesome job!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That is one tight sounding pedal! It's exactly what I'm looking for.

  • Thnx for posting this, I had doubts about to get this pedal, but after watch some videos, this finally convince me. Cheers Sam! keep it up!

  • Badass clean job dude

  • great vid. that pedal is f'n deeeecent!

  • WOW great job man!!

  • Nice work mate !!!!

  • KILLER SOUND!!!!

  • I wish my mistakes were like that.

  • Do you wash your hands before playing to get a clean sound?

  • @shawnspeed3 are you stupid

  • @shawnspeed3 I lol'd

  • @morris6635 At 1:28 you can clearly hear me showing the amp on the clean channel and then switching the RIot ON, to show the difference. So before accusing me of lying, get your facts straight!! I DID NOT turn the volume down, it clearly shows me turning the TONE pot OFF which is an active EMG SPC control which adds more gain. You can also notice that I have it OFF for most of the song. I turn it back ON for the solo section and at 4:49 I turn it OFF again. I was using the CLEAN Channel!!!!!

  • @samhillband I just bought a suhr riot and am quite dissapointed to be honest. I have a hiwatt amp running the riot into the clean channel, sounds nothing like this.HELP

  • @bcrichst It should sound great, have you thought about calling Suhr Guitars for some assistance. They love to talk to their customers and are very helpful. They are pretty quick with answering emails as well.

  • @samhillband I would be more than thnkful if you posted a lesson for the solo just like you did with the Lay It Down one , i can play that song because of you !!

  • @morris6635 He has EMGs shit-for-brains.

  • Great job- you don't need to make any apologies....

  • Awesome! Loved the faces!!!

  • which pups in this Suhr?

  • @KingTabor At the time of this video they were Duncan Blackouts AHB3 (bridge) AHB1 (neck). I have since changed to Suhr Aldrich passives. I have also since practised things for a few days before putting them on YT. Glad to see you removed your comment. Good players like yourself don't need to say things like that...lol.

  • @samhillband Hey Mr Sam, thanks for your time. I didn't mean any offense I only told the way I would do it (I mean, made things sounds better by practicing a little more). But when I looked back to the 1st comment it seemed a bit offensive, that's why I removed it. Anyway I thought the playing was very very good even with just a one night practice, so the comment lost sense completely. Thanks and congrats for the collection of videos.

  • @KingTabor Thanks! Great playing on your vids btw!!

    Mark

  • @samhillband Hi , i enjoy your videos very much, i was wondering what your opinion of the suhr aldrich pickups vs the SD blackouts is? would you mind saying how they compare ?

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty good for a one-nighter. If you want to hear Warren's verse melody, it's clearly captured on YouTube user 'oilcan00' video titled "RATT - Round and Round-Live 91-Michael Schenker" at approx 1:15 into the video.

  • omg your guitar sounds like sexx :D

  • HOLY SHIT !!!!!! what a powerful sound through the clean channel on the amp, and when the Suhr Riot kicks in, what a sound, i want one.

  • Mark, is that a standard or Modern? Also, can you give me a quick run through of your recording setup? Thanks :)

  • @JgHaverty Suhr Modern.

I use Logic Pro 9 with my MacBook Pro 17" (2008 model) and an Apogee Duet. I use SM57, E609 and Apex mics. I have the Waves Platinum bundle and also use some plugins that come with Logic Pro 9.

  • how much is this guitar,,,,,,, is it sick

  • I always thought rat were a bunch of fags but this was a cool song and it takes me back to some good memories. You played it really well. especially for just learning it. Hats off to ya for a good demo. I love that suhr pedal for shure ( no pun intended) so I take it you like the pedal? Love that amp your using. Suhr makes some good stuff.

  • Awesome the best cover of round & round on youtube!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • Very nice! Love the tone of that Suhr Riot pedal!

  • Do you have a Delay on that and what about Reverb ?

  • Epic!!!

  • price?

  • GREAT!!! its what we want to hear about the suhr riot!!! and suhr guitar... and suhr amp @_@ i so envy you!!! :D great playing and amazing OD Distor... whatever :D I loved it!!!

  • I mean, Panama

  • this songs reminds of EVH's Panana. A LOT!

  • that was insane. when the you did the solo i had to change my pants, after i came back, and had to change them again because i played it again. Thank you!

  • monsterous tone & outstanding playing! ur & helluva player. i liked the improvisation.

  • absolutely BADASS! Man

  • Great job man, you rock! :)

  • holy freekin crap. Thatès some tight shee-it right there.

  • Mark.....you rock bro.

  • wowee u've improved a lot!!

  • Ha You didn't make anwhere NEAR the mistakes the real Band Ratt made the last time I saw Them in L.A.nor in Dallas in the 90's when Robyn Crosby was so high He had to go backstage and throw up in the middle of a song lol. You are an AWESOME Guitarist! Thank You for the Vid!!

  • Bad Frikkin Ass! You are very VERY talented Man!

  • Dude...that was BAD-ASS!!!!!! \m/ \m/

  • Great tone man, long live the 80's. I'd love to see you tackle some Y&T songs, definitely the most overlooked rock band of the 80's.

  • should it be a tube amp to hear this kind of sound? and if yes what settings to use....? please reply..:D

  • should it be a tube amp to hear this kind of sound? and if yes what settings to use....? please respond..:D

  • @MANVARD

\yes should be a clean tube amp. I find cranking the treble and presence a bit really makes this thing sound like a monster.

    Mark

  • @samhillband ok thank you...

  • @samhillband Amazing tone m8. Is your sexy guitar a bolt on neck?

Nice facial expressions and overall great cover so im gonna subscribe to you.

  • What if i have a non tube amp? will it still have a good sound?? cause omg this sounds even better to me than the actual guitar recording on the music

  • awesome!!!!

hey dude, do you play with tabs?...Your sound is pretty cool

  • Amazing , it sounded wicked ( playing and tone)

  • Congratulations, awesome playing bro, I really, really gotta try that pedal

  • You're very funny and playin' good in guitar! :D

    Merry Christmas!

  • nice faces man hahaha, but still a good video... how much for the pedal?

  • Sick tone bro.

  • good job

  • Pretty AWESOME!

  • Awesome vibrato!!

  • Great Playing Man ! That sounded wicked cool . Dug It !

  • where do you get your backing tracks from? nice played btw ; D

  • @osto97 Thanks!

Usually from freshbt or guitarbackingtrack and sometimes I just have my band do them.

  • Excellent stuff once again! I have viewed many of your videos and I really enjoy listening to and watching you play. It's great to see that you enjoy yourself and that you don't take yourself too seriously. As others have said, your playing is great and the tones you get are extremely pleasing to the ear. You have great vibrato, a very natural playing style, and you seem to bring some of your own personality and even humor into the parts you play. Well done, sir, and thanks for your videos.

  • Love the tones you get - wish I could "make loads of mistakes" & sound that good!

  • Wow man, great great distortion sound. A good friend of mine just got a pt 100 and a shiba drive. I played through it and was blown away. Time to let him know about this pedal as well.

  • Nicely done Mark! You rock... and that's hardly enough gain to boot! LOL! Sounds great.

  • @spetersonmusic

    Lol! Thanks Scott!

  • If anyone disses your playing because you made some sort of mistake, screw them. You took an awesome song and made it your own while keeping it close.

  • For a stand alone Distortion Pedal i'm yet to hear anything as good as the riot, great video Mark showing the pedal at it's best!

  • The notes are so crisp crystal clear! Killer tone!

  • I know i've told you this...at least twice...and going to say it again.... your bends, and vibrato are killer. IMOP, that carries soo much more weight, than a lot of players out there. Rock on bro...

Oh yeah, that last solo was smokin..

  • Two words.....You Rock!!!!

  • Very close to the original and great playing !

  • great song,,, brutal cover... killer.tone.....thumbs up !!!

  • Thanks guys for all the kind words!! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch, listen and post your comments.

    Mark

  • Hey mark do the blackouts clean up if you turn the vol on your guitar down?

  • @hospitalhunting

Yes ! Much better than my EMG's did.

  • good cover try on the song

  • Man, I just wish I could play like you :)

  • I'm a modern metal guy but i always like the songs you play.

Your end solo sounded brill too.

  • hey ! nice cover, thumb up !!

i've did this song either, but with guitar rig 4 ...

  • Sounds amazing and I love that song

    Robin :o)

  • you sound like a beast!! what a crunch!! Mark 'Riot' Day!!

  • Mark without the riot, can you get close to this sound with the pt100 ?

  • @bailey12444

    Absolutely!!!

  • cool!

  • That was a really really sweet improv br0.

  • This was awesome! I actually enjoyed the improv.

  • Great job Mark!!! Its always a pleasure to watch your new vidz! Nice sound indeed, and a lot of ideas ;)

    Thx!!!

  • Great cover of one of my favorites! I saw in some of your other videos that you have Seymour Duncan Blackouts in your guitar, and I was curious if they are the AHB-1, AHB-2 or AHB-3. Thanks for any info! :)

  • @gibsonguitar1988 AHB 3 in the bridge and AHB1 in the neck. I originally had an AHB1 set in this guitar but tried the AHB3 and it's staying :)

  • @samhillband Thanks for the info! How do you think this pedal would sound through a clean Fender Twin Reverb:? That's my main amp I use.

  • Hey Mark, have you seen the show Rock of Ages yet? Just saw it in Toronto. I think you would love it considering your love of 80's rock.

  • Yes, yes! That is what i wanted to hear for a long time! It sounds so awesome, its making me round and round!

  • Learned it ;ast night yeahhhhhhh RIGHT!!! hahaha Sounds amazing as usual man!

  • @fluff191 True story, I only know Lay It Down :)

    Mark

  • Sounds great!

  • cool, half step down????

  • @beano1eye

Yes just like the original :)

  • I wish my mistake having playing was that good. My mistake playing just sounds like ass.

  • Nice playing Mark! Awesome tone too buddy! ;)
