  • London 2012 !!

    I don't wait for it !!

    Beautiful anthem!

    From Japan

  • This is the national anthem of England.

I think that really sums it up for me. The UK and England are completely the same. There is nothing British about being Scottish, Welsh or NI. The people of the world when they hear this anthem, when they see this flag, think only of England.

Those days are soon coming to an end :)

  • @glasgow1234 Yes it is also England's anthem but it is also the national anthem of Great Britain.

  • fuckin nazi country.. oh sry.. no .. uk was that with the africans and indians.

  • Heil dir im Siegerkranz Herrscher des Vaterlands Heil Kaiser dir!

  • The two top comments are giving me opposite info - which one shall I believe?

  • Long Live United Kingdom Greetings From Czech Republic

  • The greatest & most known flag in the world & the greatest national anthem of them all.

2012 will be a Great year for Great Britain & NI.

  • The amount of germans on here going on about how this anthem is from some german song, well it may well be but if you keep going on about it we might go on about 2 things that happened in a few decades ago :)

  • Cenaze Müziği Sanki Amk !! Böyle Marşmı Olur Lan !!

  • And then "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" used this same tune.

  • this anthem as been writen after god save the king french for Louis XIV from domine salvum fac regem

  • Know what was most Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish hate, is when people from other countries use England as collective term for the UK, it gets a lot of us really annoyed like when people call the Netherlands, Holland.

  • @dbvc1 and English people too. I'm proud to be in the same union of nations as Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Long live the United Kingdom.

  • @RodmasterStudios well said

  • @dbvc1 Before the emergence of romantic nationalism in the constituent countries of the UK (including England), the term "England" was an acceptable definition to be applied to the entire UK, and was even used within other constituent countries - Ireland, Scotland and Wales - to refer to the Union.

The Oxford History of England (vol15) states:

" 'England' was still an all-embracing word. It meant indiscriminately England and Wales; Great Britain; the United Kingdom; and even the British Empire."

  • @BasilFawlty4444

Someones been watching too much QI.

  • fuck United Kingdom :)

  • @mauricesioniste Thanks to remember the past instead of moving on. Maybe Argentina lost, in the Argentine people's heart, the Falklands are still Argentinean, and it goes the same to the UK!, so there is no need to remember that over and over.

  • Greetings from Hungary. !!!!

  • Long live the united kingdom and England came to be there hopefully one day: ') Sluder from Spain

  • /watch?v=YSVnu0W2Wjk

  • This song is from the french song "Grand Dieu sauve le Roi" composed in 1686 for King Louis XIV sick who escape to the death and sung by Ursuline sisters of St Cyr, adopted by Stewart's partisans and finally taken as national anthem by the victorious Hanover on the Stewart. The song's sound is later taken by Germans and Russians for their own versions.

God save the Queen and God bless United Kingdom!!!

    Sorry for my English.

  • @ CutyBecky Salut.

    Greetings from the USA.

  • Long live the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

    Greating form Canada.

  • from all european anthems "God Save the Queen" is the best...

  • DID U KNOW THIS SONG IS FROM GERMAN/ PRUSSIA AND AUSTRIA

  • @stue083

    I got told the Russians used it as well;

Then again the King of England/Emperor of India - German Kaiser and Russian Tzar were all cousins so...

  • the british nationalathem is from the german song "heil dir dem siegerkranz"

  • @hubbapop1 So, the American national anthem is from the English drinking song "The Anacreontic Song"

  • @hubbapop1 It's the other way round...

  • No, no. We made it in 1583. They took our anthem and used it.

  • @hubbapop1 That because King George I was from Hanover in Germany and our royal family is descendants of the Hanoverian monarch. That's why the song was written in German.

Queen Victoria's husband was from Germany too. When we went to war against Germany in the first world war, the royal family felt there was huge anti-German feelings among the subjects so had to change name to Windsor which it still used though the house is called Mountbatten-Windsor nowadays.

  • Comment removed

  • @DavBlc7

    that's not correct.

the royal family isn't german but a mix of 1000 different nationalities like dutch, danish, scottish, irish, russian, german, etc...

  • @DavBlc7 i know but thank you for your answer ^ _ ^

  • @hubbapop1 umm...even if im a fan of germany in must tell u that...u are completely wrong, the british national anthem was composed on 1745, and heil dir dem siegerkranz in 1871...so i think it´s the other way around n_n sorry...

  • @hubbapop1 however if im wrong and im missing any important information please let me know, cheers mate

  • @hubbapop1 other way round.... the composer of heil dir im siegerkranz heard this and made a German version.

  • @jakeshortj

    wrong...

heil dir im siegerkranz is older...

  • @hubbapop1 It's the other way around. Get your facts straight, Germany boy.

  • @hubbapop1 thats fitting, since the English royals are German anyway.

  • @hubbapop1 Actually, "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" was written after "God Save the King/Queen".

  • @LeDernierquiaparle Bullshit xD

  • @hubbapop1 Actually it originated in the French 'Grand Dieu Sauve le Roi.' I think it spelled that correctly...

  • @hubbapop1 Well not really they just share the same Melody.

  • it makes me sad that i am only 1/9 british

  • @platinumpikachu13 thats not alot lol

  • @plym0uth2 ikr, i dont have an accent either...:(

  • @platinumpikachu13 and thats a kick in the teeth lol

  • @plym0uth2 u know whats a kick in the balls? ive never been to england, we dont study england at all, and IM 8/9 NOT BRITISH! i wish i were at least half british...

  • The United Kingdom is in danger of dissolved itself if Scots voted for independence which may unlikely to happen.

But if it does then the United Kingdom would lose Scotland while England, Wales and N. Ireland would remain in the UK but not for long. That is for the future.

Hopefully the majority of the Scots will reject independence. God save the Queen!

  • "Loved by americans, but hated by the french" (citat.)

  • @Antralian Thats ironic during American revolution UK hated by US while French loved by US now today however.......The other way around! lol I like the US/UK relations nowadays Im american but I love the UK.

  • I'm an Englishman and this isn't my anthem. Fuck the royal family.

  • @Gallers you misserable buggar...why do you listen to it then

  • @the99kasper For shits and giggles.

  • @TheEvilGamePlayers No,we won, we stopped the Japanese getting into India, we survived for nearly 3 years without American help, we stopped Rommel in North Africa, we were the ones that got the Enigma codebreaker, we had the Blitz and Rationing, Personally I think America was more of the side player, as they only REALLY got involved after 1941 / 42 (near enough 42, Pearl Harbour was in December)

  • can you send me the name of this program please RESPOND

  • I have the greatest esteem, respect, and admiration for the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland - for its global contribution, its glorious history, its wonderful people and its gracious monarch!

  • heil dir im Siegerkranz....

    hail the victory wreath...

  • @TheEvilGamePlayers now now americans dont have to get everything. so stfu and suck it up. history outsmarts you

  • If there a version of this song i like more, it is "My country tis of thee".

  • God bless the Queen the Great Britain...fuck all the Scots who want to break from the UK ...you stupid fucks.

  • @TigerIPanzer Not yet break away cos there's to be a referendum first but First minister said it could take about 2 and a half years for it to take place - said support for independence grow, I doubt if he is telling the truth?

  • Im part british and really i think Rule Britannia! should be the anthem. not that i don`t like this one. i just think Rule Britannia! would fit it better.

  • @MultiLusitania Especially in times in which Britannia has nothing more to rule over ;)

  • I like that National Anthem :D

    Greetings from Germany :3

  • love england. loyalty to england still as an american. i like how we fought to be free yet we get 24 hour coverage of what our father country (england) is having as weddings. bless william and kate as well.

  • @blackhawksred19 Over 200 years America broke away from Britain thanks to our taxes imposed on the colonies who were angry with us.

Thankfully we fought each others twice and ended up as allies during both world wars against the terrible Huns and then the nippers!

  • Heil dir im sieger kranz

  • In honor for the Empirial flag :from germany

  • @TheEvilGamePlayers mate, America never helped the Soviet Union during WW2 either, the allies had no possible way of aiding them, so Stalin decided to go in alone against germany. Then there was a RACE to Berlin between the allies and the Soviet Union. of course, as history goes, ivan got there first.

  • @bsrap That's not true. Britain and the USA shipped enormous quantities of aid to the USSR via Murmansk, Arkangel and Vladivostok. We provided them with trucks, boots, clothing, ammunition, medicine, rubber and many other essential commodities.

  • @redxenos Very true mate. The Soviet war needed Britain and America.

  • @redxenos the Soviets did help Britain from a possible second Nazi invasion by stubbornly defended the country by bring in more troops where they should have been ready to invade the British isles!

The Battle of Britain did not stop the threat of invasion until the Soviets starts attacking the German front that Hitler ordered more troops from France to stop them attacking.

  • @DavBlc7 After the Battle of Britain, the Royal Air Force gained air superiority over North-West Europe which rendered a German invasion very unlikely. Britain was fighting alone then with no help from the Soviets who had shamelessly cooperated with Hitler in invading Poland. The Soviets didn't even start pushing the Germans back until 1943, by which time the Allies had already invaded Italy. So we have no reason to be grateful to the Soviets at all. They were just as bad as the Nazis!

  • @redxenos

The USSR did the majority of the fighting during the Second World War. Take a look at the casualties chart. Soviets suffered roughly 7 million deaths on the battlefield, Germany and her allies 4.5 million on the eastern front. Germany had like 80% of her armed forces on the Eastern Front, yet the western Allies had TROUBLE slugging through Italy and France. You should damn be grateful for the Soviets.

  • @Neoarkt There were so many Germans in the eastern front because there were 181 soviet divisions there. If they had put most of their army on the western front, the war would have been quick and painless for everyone but Germany.

  • Comment removed

  • @mrtangerine999 I have no idea what your point is, but the Eastern Front dwarfed all other fronts. The sheer scale of battles there were titanic. At the Batle of the Bulge, the Western Allies suffered 90000 casualties. At Stalingrad, the USSR suffered a MILLION casualties, while inflicting 850,000 casualties on Germany and her allies. There were so many German troops on the Eastern Front because it was vastly more important than the Western one.

  • i just LOVE the UK but its weird i just couldn't live there! i wouldn't feel at home. I can only really feel right in the Republic of Portugal.

  • Greetings from KOSOVO

  • @TheEvilGamePlayers

Battle of Britain wasnt on land.

  • @TheEvilGamePlayers America wasn't even in WW2 during the Battle of Britain (1940) - there were 5 American pilots out of around 1900, that was it. We were alone against Germany and fought against insurmountable odds and won despite the fact you had more resources, pilots, etc.

  • @Jadcardie

still we should be thankful for the resources we gained through lend-lease. plus we cant forget the brave polish squadrons that fought for the RAF.

  • @TheEvilGamePlayers

Britain did win the Battle of Britain, with the help of some Polish pilots.

  • @TheEvilGamePlayers

Not really. Who won in Africa? Who also landed in Normandy? Who helped just as much as America in Europe? Who won the Battle of Britain? Who beat your navy and airforce? BRITAIN!

  • @TheEvilGamePlayers Britain was the only country to remain opposed to the Germans throughout the entire war - the British beat you in the Battle of Britain and secured air dominance over Europe (along with naval dominance) despite the fact you had more pilots and resources than we did and thus leaving the Soviets able to defeat you also. If we didn't win that battle, the USSR would've lost. We had the heavy burden of the outcome on our shoulders. Without Britain D-Day wouldn't have occurred. ^_^

  • @TheEvilGamePlayers

stfu nazi. Sad that we beat you in WW1 and WW2?????

  • BOOOOOOOOO!! Never forgot that this country still won't let North Ireland be free!

  • @dekdk11 Thats because a majority of people in Northern Ireland want to remain in the UK.

  • @Bwmz But I have to admit, this anthem is good

  • @Bwmz yes but that is Ireland, and The UK swallowed up Scotland too!

  • @dekdk11 But the majority of people in northern ireland and scotland WANT to be british

  • @Bwmz yeah, but its still bad. I wish England just stayed in its own land.

  • @dekdk11

In northern ireland many people are protestant, while ireland is catholic. sorry but that's the truth.

    freedom for wales.

  • @Oesterreich1156 freedom from what there not being oppressed

  • @whitewizard1990

    why not ?

  • @Oesterreich1156 if the welsh want to break away from the union then thats up to them but as i see it there is no political apitite for this to happen the nationalists are in a minority

  • @whitewizard1990

it's sad that those people don't want to live in an real independant nation.

  • @Oesterreich1156 well they are recognised as a nation and they do have a government unlike england who is barely recognized as a nation and has no government of its own we sit under the boot of the british government while wales scotland and northern ireland get what is essentially home rule

  • @Oesterreich1156 But together we our a great nation it was not the English, Irish, Scotish or the Welsh that built the british Empire the largest and strongest empire ever known second to none.

It was infact a combination of all four you see we work very well together where as for example you and the Hungarians could not work well thus one of the reasons why you fell.

And sure if we wanted to be another weak powerless pathetic nation that has had its hope amd drea,s grinded into dust ...

  • @Oesterreich1156 Crushed under the jackboot of the totalitarian European Union.

Then we will give Austria a call XD.

But some thing you mainlanders cant understand is that WE OUR BRITISH NOT EUROPEANS

  • This anthem was written in France to thank God for having cured King Louis XIV of a fistula. The English were so stupid that they copied out the music and make their hymn. GOD SAVE US FROM FISTULAS

  • we do appreciated with your support.

    from japan.

  • dic regi. concumbere cum simia

  • England,,,,,

  • Greetings from Hungary

  • FREE SCOTLAND! FREE IRELAND!

  • @Iron1871 Long live Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II! and most of Ireland is free! and Scotland Joined by choice, so did ireland, which decided to chicken out some time after 1805, and they say irish men love to fight *scoffs*

  • @Jack10000115 Yes, Long Live The United Kingdom of GREAT Britain and Northern Ireland. Don't forget the first King of the whole of Great Britain was Scottish. Ireland would be a German province now were it not for the British.

  • @britishfirstandlast

    lol hahahaha

ireland would be a german province if it weren't for the british lol hahaha

Ireland is irish and it always will be!! we'll stand our ground till the last deed is done, again any nation threatens our freedom

  • @papadoc711 I would like to believe what you wrote. BUT remember how the whole of Europe and Britain held it's breath as we waited to see if the Irish would defy their European masters and vote against the Lisbon Treaty for the second time? Sadly, like a frightened people, they capitulated.

  • @britishfirstandlast the lisbon treaty, lol

thats what happens when people don't know what there voting for, as most irish people didn't,

  • @britishfirstandlast The majority of the people in the continent europe dont want a state "EU". So is good that they stop the constitution. Europe shall be a Union of free Nations. Europe shall never be a higher authority than the nation. Europe shall never stand above the nation. Europe shall connect the nations, not more. The people want to be Germans, French, Italians and so on as if they had ever been.

  • @papadoc711 So its time for the irish unity. All english authority must leave irish ground. England threatens the irish freedom. I am German and i support the irish union and the scottish independence. I am waiting for the unity to stay i an irish pub with a great irish freedom party... Game over, England!

  • @Iron1871 Please study the facts:

1)The people of Northern Ireland are BRITISH, not English. 2)"English" Authority does not exist in Ireland. It is one part of The BRITISH Isles and England is a DIFFERENT part of The British Isles.

    3) Northern Ireland is part of The UNITED KINGDOM. It is not part of England.

    4) Most people in Northern Ireland and Scotland want to stay with England and Wales.

    5) The wars against the Germans strengthened the Unity of the British.

  • @Iron1871

lol when the day comes, the world will hear us Mo chara over 800 years we have fought, millions of our people have lost there live defending this country, so its a party for the world to join in on,

  • @papadoc711 I support the Irish unity. Its the irish right to do everything to send the english home. Belfast is in Ireland and not in "Great Britain" (better Great England).

  • @Iron1871 exactly!

  • @papadoc711 Its time to send the english home. It cant be that Ireland stop the unity in the constitution. North eastern ireland have to come home to the irish republic. Dont stop believing in the unity. It would be real one day.

  • @Iron1871 Just open your mind. When the English visit Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland we are at Home. It's just like moving into anotther room in the same house. Fascism is not British. Cowboys and Indians come from America; Facsists and Communists come from Europe, not Britain.

  • @britishfirstandlast Read about Oswald Mosley and British Union of Facsists (BUF). Scotland or Ireland is never the home of the english. Scotland belongs to the Scots, Ireland belongs to the Irish. Remember the song of Paul Mc Cartney: Give Ireland back to the Irish.

  • @Iron1871 I studied History at University and we dealt with Moseley then. Fascism was a non starter in The U.K. because of the moderate nature of the people. This in contrast to Europe where war, revolutions and extremism are perfectly normal.

  • @britishfirstandlast When you studied history then you learnd that the facism didnt start in Germany. The facism is an international problem not directly connected with the Germans. The NSDAP was found after the WW 1. Italy and Span had facism, too. Hitlers teacher was the italian Mussolini. Hitlers friend was Franco of Spain. The english facistic man was Oswald Mosley with the B.U.F.

Open you mind: Its raceistic when you declear Germans as facistic persons just because being German.

  • @Iron1871 NO. Fascism is NOT an international problem it is a EUROPEAN problem and thankfully I am British and not European.

Our history lecturer pointed out that fascism was very weak in Britain. It was surreal and riddiculous in a well-esatblished democracy like The U.K. Britain in the 1930's was very different to Europe, where bloodshed, chaos, extremism and revolution are the norm.

  • @britishfirstandlast The facism had and has support from all parts of the world - in England, too. I am not European, i am German. The EU is not a state although the politcians try to make a european state show. The EU is union of free nations. I dont want a super state EU. A new constitution can only come in Germany when the German people direclty vote for it. For sure we wouldnt vote for it.

  • @Iron1871 Union of free nations? Hmm, must be the German sense of humour. Our political elite are taking the pee out of us. Love Europe, hate the EU.

  • @DFCEngland Nation first, europe second, E.U. never. We dont need a E.U.. Its enough to have a legaue of Nation, a european version of the U.N.. There is nothing higher than the Nation.
