@antimorons1945 not a fixed a2, but your newer ones, the a4 style, is detachable., you were close about the mk11 being an m4, its the mk12 though thats mostly a m4., mk12 mod 0 and mk12 mod 1 , one has pri rail, the other has kac rail
@antimorons1945 ehh its like this.., m4's are judged by the lower., m4 is 3 shot burst, m4a1 is full auto., all m4 issued have a flattop with detachable sight., m16 has both variations, m16a1 full auto fixed sight, m16a2 3 shot burst fixed sight, m16a4 3 shot burst flattop upper. that square ya away?? there are some older m4a1 with fixed carry handle like the xm177 i believe, but very rare., most of your big army however have m16a2., that would be a fixed carry handle.., usually with a 203., :D
@MultiSr16 the flattop is formed of both sights, right? uh and i didn't know the xm177 has no detachable sights... thought it was a regular m4. however i was surprised to find out that the newer versions of the colt commando have got detachable sights... so since which year do the m4's have got detachable front sights? the vietnam commando had none of them removable... remember? and when they wanted to add an ACOG they were hanging it on the rear sight.
@antimorons1945 in my reply i never addressed front sights as ALL military m4's and m16's have a delta front sight post/gasblock., i was only addressing your question on carry handle configurations., no, flattop m4 uppers still have the delta front sight post. now your mk18 mod1 doesnt, but thats just recently, the mk18 mod 0 has a flattop and a fixed front sight, the army loves fixed front sights., an the acog wasnt hangin on there haha, acogs were originally designed for carry handles only :D
@antimorons1945 the vietnam commando?? thats the xm177 :) and yes., i remember., i remember all of it apparently hahah any more questions?? i cant be stumped
@MultiSr16 one more thing. there are those STAG rifles which have got detachable front sights but do the Colt versions have detachable front sights? i am interested in the Colt versions :D
@antimorons1945 i hate rifles with picatinny railed gas blocks., the gas block is a horrible spot to mount anything.., look into the new colts with the folding front sight, theyre great., or if the gas block is covered up by the rail system and your mounting the sight on the rail itself is also great., like the DD RIS2 from the mod1., stuff like that is where you want to go., do not buy a rifle with a picatinny railed gas block., you'll regret it later, trust me.., i think the colt is the 6940 !
@MultiSr16 i simply wanted a version similar to the army versions like the M4 carbine. for example can the front sight of a M4 Carbine be taken off it? and what i wanted to know, simply for my knwoledge is if the A2 front sight be taken off an army M4A1 not any civilian model. i do know the 6940 and to be honest with you i was planning to buy one but for now i want to know more about the M4A1and what can be taken off it. what kind of rails are they using and stuff like that :D
The front sight/gas block assembly cannot be removed on military or civilian AR/M16/M4 designs without proper gunsmithing or depot-level knowledge and tools/gages. The front sight on military weapons is typically not removed since backup iron sights are seen as an advantage. Some civilian weapons come with a low profile gas block without the front sight assembly, but I have not heard of many military AR platforms besides the MK 11/SR-25 that are that way.
@swordmaster2k1 yeah the front sights on the millitary versions are fixed using some small screws and if you want to remove it you can use that red tool having an A2 shape, right? :D
put if you use an eo2 or an ACOG i find the A2 quite distubing...
and there is a new M4 model designed for military use which was presented at shot show 2011 by colt but i can't remember it's name. look it up on you tube. you'll find it, it's a really cool model.
For rail systems. The rails used on almost all military guns will be the Knight's Armament Company RIS (Rail Interface System). KAC makes several varieties of these for civilians as well for the variety of forearms, barrel lengths, and gas blocks manufactured these days. Surefire also makes a good rail system in similar configurations to the KAC designs.

hmm it supressed but sound of shoot is still loud
NarrowKilla 2 months ago
@NarrowKilla Suppressors merely "reduce" the sound of the gunshot, not cancel it out completely.
You've been watching too many James Bond movies and playing too many video games.

the mk 11 is a M4 right?
antimorons1945 5 months ago
@antimorons1945 No, the Mk11 is 7.62. But it's based on the M16 family, so it functions the same and works the same.
