  • time to sell my trumpet

  • Only this... WOW

  • Pure genius.

Jazz is great but this is where the good stuff is.

  • We're playing this in band...Sadly, our boss euphonium gets all the fun parts... >.<

  • the best version of carnival of venice

  • i'm 15. I wish I can play this before I die. :D

  • i can do it, with my butthole

  • OMG

    0:00 - 7:46

    Wowowowowow....

  • All you classical farts who claim jazz destroys technique and embouchure better listen to this guy play!

  • @AmundLauritzen DITTO! Great music is great music! Unfortunately (or unfartunately), the musicologists that control classical think a great performance is when all the notes are played correctly, perfectly. It's much more than that.

    Touche, Wynton!

  • @RafaelSatchmo Funny thing is, he didn't miss a note. Not a one.

  • @EvanTempleton Right on, Evan. Wynton is a great musician, not just a technician. This rendition is very musical. The great Mendez never recorded "Venice" but a condensed version was an encore in his concerts, and I have 3 recordings. He was fantastically technical, incredibly musical and NEVER missed a note. His ad lib in "I Know that You Know" is breathtaking. He didn't miss or crack a note, unlike Miles Davis.

  • @RafaelSatchmo Let me qualify the "recordings" of Mendez and Carnival of Venice. These were recorded by individuals at concerts. He took it to another level.

  • @RafaelSatchmo Ok, lets not be sideswiping Miles Davis. Ill admit that Wynton is definitely a better technical player, but Miles' influence on the world of jazz far outweighs his shortcomings in chops.

  • @hebrewhammershabbat Hey, no sideswipe to Miles. He was not only a pioneer, but super creative. His artistry in "Kind of Blue" -- which was pure improve ( the whole album was virtually one take, first time played, all ad lib and pure magic). He would come in full tilt out of nothing, which is difficult to do. It's just he cracked a lot of notes in the process. As do I...

  • @RafaelSatchmo True, I guess I just got the wrong impression from your initial comment.

  • @AmundLauritzen i'm pretty sure this recodring (which i think is with the eastman Wind Ensemble) was before he got SUPER interested in jazz and started doing gig/big band stuff. not saying jazz is horrible, because it's not; but just saying. hes still an amazing player either way haha

  • Magistral simplement...

  • My cousin played this in high school and had the main trumpet solo part. I'm a trumpet player also and the only difference is that he's in college now and a better player than me.

  • the finale is what take a long time to play accurately

  • Beautiful sound, I love Wynton. Amazing technique! You should hear Bob McChesney play Carnival of Venice on slide trombone. There is a youtube video of it. I've never heard anything like it on trombone.

  • Is this song in arbans?

  • @NDguy191 Yes. Used to play it alot when i was a kid.

  • @NDguy191 I believe it is in Arbans. I haven't played through that part in a while most working on Double and Triple tonguing for A Trumpeter's Lullaby

  • @NDguy191 yes. one of the last ones

  • @NDguy191 yes. one of the last ones

  • I cannot say that I love his playing, but it is very good... then again this is coming from a middle schooler that loves jazz over classical...

  • maravilhoso. grande wynton marsalis

  • Wynton marsalis , gjorde han kjent

  • niccole paganini var en mester!

  • ...oh my....

  • 3:50....holy crap

  • @SJCSmusic those happen to be 32nd notes played at an incredibly fast speed, but yes, "holy crap" are the right words for that part!!!

  • @SJCSmusic the whole thing...holy crap

  • I use to play cornett and trumpet in a brass band a a few years ago having just heard that i may just cut my fingers off and never do it again LOL.Truely awe inspiring

    .

  • e sem palavras gostaria de ter apenas uma aula com voce marsalis voce toca demais!!!

  • que hermosisima seleccion

  • What a player, wow.

  • My favorite piece of music played by arguably the best trumpet player in the world ever.

  • i learned earlier that my brother used to play this piece so i went and looked it up. i must say i respect him a lot more after hearing this lol great piece

  • When I listen to this im in Venice!!

  • Technically, he's playing this with great articulation. But it's his sensitivity that's melting my heart. Well done!

    Does he give lessons?

  • one person doesn't appreciate real music and probably think rap is real music. This is a really complicated peice and everyone who dislikes it should try it before disliking it.

  • I can always listen to the carnival of venice... no matter what mood i'm in!

  • @dbrown251 Totally agree.

It's great for both psyching myself for a run, or reminding me that my double tonguing ability sounds like a clumsy 5th grader compared to this =P

  • I love is trumpet !!

  • I'm playing this on euphonium next year, wish me luck?

  • @ClearBlackWater me too. Best of luck to you.

  • The Best Version I've heard so far, the difficulty is very High, compared to all of those who rendered this solo!

  • The video isn't titled Carnival compared to edna white. It's just for the enjoyment of music. so smile you'll probably live long.

  • Not bad, but Edna White did it just as well and much earlier. See a video on her life and career by searching: Edna White CD

  • @saf22art Haven't you heard? Nobody cares about women.

  • he is the best

  • perfect

  • his best version yet
