  • cool!

  • nice work :)

  • Hey this looks not too bad..

Why don't you use after effects?.. That would speed things up.. You can use bezier masks to get your shading cells and interpolate inbetween them. I found a good way is to use the cutout filter and then use this as a guide for animating...

  • wicked!

  • nice job. What was the song??

  • "A Million Ways", by OkGo

  • thank you much!

  • They actually hand-traced every frame of the film.

  • good job, that looks pretty involved

  • she is nice

  • Can you do better?

  • Actually it looks like the first pass of animation before all the shading and highlight passes. Do you know how long it takes to make a 5 second clip? At 24 frames per second thats 120 drawings. Lets see you do 120 drawings PLUS shading layers- since apparently a line pass isn't sufficient -thats 480 drawings (120 drawings each for the line layer, base layer, shadow layer, and highlight layer). Come on, do it. Oh that's right you can't. Youre a lonely man who wants to tear others down. Fuck off.

  • I like it when she smiles. It's like, *WHAM*

  • What program did you use?

  • the smile is creepy

  • and i thought it was done by some fancy CGI or something

  • It took them a few years if I am not mistaken to draw every fucking frame of the movie. A Scanner Darkly was not made using some sort of filter or anything.

  • yeah it was done with a team of guys in a room full of PCs and tablets for drawing and it took them all year

  • I think it took them about 5 years, if i remember correctly.

  • 5 years wow i didnt really know exactly how long but i did watch the making of

  • I think I had heard that, I'm not 100% sure.

  • me either man

  • hey ... really nice try.

  • An easy way to do this would be to posterize the video, and then use find edge, set blend to screen and add a fill to black. I should actually try it first tho :)

  • whats the song?

sounds like queens of the stone age

  • a million ways - ok go

  • cool thanks

  • that looks really cool. not to be a pig or anything, but the girl in this video is actually really pretty

  • turned out so much better than ours

  • you can create quite a nice "a scanner darkly" effect using Illustrator seeing as it is vector but thats just for a single image, it would take alot of work to create a moving image

  • That's what they did, but in a non-professional low budget method, lol.

  • that's great work! i wouldn't be able to do that >__>'

  • I don't think they used Photoshop...it was too nicely done...

  • sure they did...

they used After Effects and Illustrator CS2 from the Photoshop Creative Suite 2 bundle...

but they didn't do it, like in this video, of course...

  • actually it was a completely different program :) it's called Rotoshop. the whole film took 15 months to animate, and according to Wikipedia, "Each minute of animation required 500 hours of work with 30 people working full-time every day."

    so nope, not photoshop.

  • looks good, but i think it needs a blink

  • They used Rotoscope Animation. Douche.

  • that looked really bad. they didnt use photoshop anyways.

  • stfu u can do better

  • or you could not be an idiot and stop wasting my time with useless chain messaGES

  • Thanks for the video response add!

  • nope thats not what they did.

  • that is not how they animated it. you are kinda close though. they did not use any filters to create that effect. it was done by hand. hand drawn all the way. well, keyframes were drawn, and then i'm sure you can guess the rest.

  • It was rotoscoped using computers and then hand painted. Yes, labor intensive, but not 100% hand drawn / animated.

  • In the commentary they said they used a specially created program called "BOB" or something like that.

  • mmmmm, it doesn't convence me.

  • yeah, its hebrew. Why would you call it moon language? What is moon language anyway?

  • I'm thinking that theonlybigboss douche's thinking of Arabic, not hebrew.

  • no moon language: hebrew

  • Oh, my god. Frame by frame schtuff? I am extremely envious. I don't have the patience to do frame-by frame compositing, let alone redrawing each frame's contents!

  • rotoscoping

  • her eyes look to creepy

  • The song is "million ways" by "ok go".

I think it have the funniest music video ever!

check it out on 'you tube'

  • What song!?

  • what song is that?

  • how did you make that?

  • זה מוזר .... exactly !

  • זה מוזר

  • get the fucking moon language OUT of here

  • Nice, nice way to go. That'll certainly make Americans and all English speakers look intellingent and accepting.
