  • RHYTHM! RHYTHM! metronome practice.......

  • No pinky use.

  • She needs to train her pinky.

  • she plays very good and has a great future

  • someone noticed that she playsaa lot better when turns jamming than following the song exactly?

  • alla faccia del....brava adesso vado in camera taglio la chitarra e mi rompo le dita delle mani

  • nice girl and she's playing very good

  • nice girl and she's playing very good

  • exelent ,

  • 16? At 16, I was freaking still playing Eruption. Wrongly.

    ....Great work by Jess!!!

  • @15viceandvirtues Many people plays Eruption wrong even into his 40ies or 50ies

  • @KingTabor Well, eventually we all learn that it's not a song to be replicated exactly. It's all about the attitude! But songs like these require that certain finesse and technical ability all in one to pull off! This fine young lady does a great job!

  • @15viceandvirtues I agree 100% to me it is not a problem the way she 'hides' his face. To me Music comes 1st and this girl has gifts for sure

  • She is a Guy...

  • cooool collllllllll

  • she is 16? first thing after work im breaking my guitar.

  • nice tone

  • long stand!

  • screws up the part starting at 0:19 but great job overall.

  • @nomnom112 Don't hear any screw up at 0:19, unless you're talking about a departure from the original, in which case ... I dunno, maybe that's not a screw up?!

  • @lgarvey1979 my bad, i meant 0:29 . 'departure from the original', obviously, but i'm not sure if it was intended. great rendition as a whole though.

  • Wow...this is talent of the purest form. Nice accents, tasty phrasing and amazing technique. I love the sound as well. Keep up the good work ! You are truely a master on guitar, now become a god !

  • This girl can certainly play. But who the hell wants to listen Jazz Fusion keyboard demo's and guitar noodling. Please do something remotely original. There are loads of talented youngsters who can play, but they all sound the same, where is the spark, the soul, the inovation? Its not all about stellar technique, well it shouldn't be, but it is these days really.

  • @TheDarrenfleming STFU. I'm watching her fingers.

  • @fukkingfokker Music's about sound moron. Funnily enough if you turn the sound off and just watch her fingers you get a real feel for how dull this really is.

  • @TheDarrenfleming Huh? And what's a "sense of humor" about then angry man? And no... it's not about sound. If it were you wouldn't be able to explain Beethoven. He was deaf.

No one really knows what music really is about. If one were to ask me I'd say it's about symmetry. And sometimes you can surprise the listener by going out of symmetry, but there has to be a meta symmetry to that too. And that's how there's music all around you all the time. Were you too angry to notice? :P

  • @fukkingfokker typed a long reply then deleted it, can't be bothered with you.

  • @isoldecld lol! Good call.

  • @TheDarrenfleming Oh and besides, how presumptuous of you. I never mentioned anything about music. I said STFU, I'm watching her fingers.

  • It may not affect her at that age but in time constantly looking down at the neck will adversely affect her neck muscles and possibly arms and hands. It will also cause strain to her eye muscles from being fixed at an angle downwards for long periods. Her eyes will eventually sting and water a for long periods and she probably won't realise why. Some of you guys at jamtrackcentral should maybe consider advising her on her posture when playing for her long term benefit. Just a suggestion.

  • WHY DIDN"T ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS! She is amazing in every way, every song has a great feel to and the tone oh god, she is incredible.

  • Amazing tone! Well done :)

  • Outstanding. It would be nice to see you in a live session, playing with other players.

  • love how she has her own style and way of bending...love this...can't wait to hear more compositions from her that her own. Cuz she has her own tone shining through.

  • does she even have a face?

  • I've watched a number of her videos now and I've yet to see her face. Good playing though.

  • unbelievable, where is that young girl? where she come from?

  • good but why listen to her when i can listen to guthrie.

  • wow you are great you deserve more credit than that jaqueline who plays terrible music...

  • @100saprissa How in the hell did zero talent Jaqueline ever become so popular? She's an awful player and all you ever see are comments gloating over her. Oh wait, they're all pre-approved comments.

  • Someone please shoot me.WOW!

  • I realise my comment has turned the faces of many people here, i didn't mean any offence by it, i am a guitar teacher, and i am giving her the same lecture i give each and every one of my students, your little finger is one of the most crucial parts of playing guitar, neglecting it at an early stage is very very bad habbit, as is curling it into your palm, all i'm trying to say here is using more pinky will aid her more so for later years

  • @TobiLeggend I hear what your saying and I think your reply is correct , however, I would seem that she whips that little digit out just fine when she wants to. Maybe it is just her ace in the hole.

  • @TobiLeggend Yeah - cos Django Reinhardt's playing was really lacking something

  • @TobyBallMusic OMG .... you sir are an ass! point 1 :- before django reinheardt lost his little finger and half of his third, he used all 4 of his fingers to play his music, point number 2 :- obviously since he had lost his fingers he had no choice but to use 2 and half, point number 3 :- what has this got to do with anything? this song and lets say minor swing or caravan ...... two completely different genres, this song needs all 4 fingers to NOT sound sloppy

  • @TobiLeggend On the contrary it is you Sir who has missed the point. In your comment, you suggested that using your annular finger was a crucial part of playing guitar. I was merely attempting to point out using an obvious example that many players have found success only using the fourth finger when they need to, Bonamassa, for instance only uses it for certain runs and chord work. I myself like to bend with my middle and ring fingers only. PS hope you don't talk to your students like that

  • God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TobiLeggend agreed. no pinky is used, and the playing lacks a lot of flow. looks very uptight.

  • @brockerhoff atleast someone agrees with me >_<

  • This is the most accurate, amazingly improvised, and cool cover of this incredible song. And plus, you got the strato. My greetings girl, good luck ;)

  • Only bad thing in this cover is that she hides her face, i like to she the person playing, it showes personality, and gives more to the wholeness of the performance:)

  • @Bjirthable she´s just watching the neck...

  • @100saprissa Yes, ill correct my previous statement, instead of saying she hides her face, the correct would be - her face is hidden/covered by her hair.

maybe on purpose, but then my first comment would be correct:)

  • @Bjirthable She's from the Jeff Beck/Eric Johnson hiding face school

  • Excellent.

  • this song is about cooters

  • 1:26 How to play this? I learned whole song except this part

  • @TobiLeggend...you can't be serious..not a bad cover!! this is easily the best cover version of this track I've seen on Youtube period, in fact IMO better then the original! .As far as Jess being a bit shaky in places where exactly in this performance does shaky come into it.I suggest you watch again but with your eyes open!!.CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR VERSION !!.

  • @mrmurphy00 Here, here.

  • Don't be so shy...you are FANTASTIC !! Well done

  • not a bad cover, i'm in the process of learning this song myself, you were a bit shaky in some places, nothing bad, only thing i will criticise is :- USE MORE LITTLE FINGER! and don't come in to the habbit of curling it up into your palm when it's not being used!

  • @TobiLeggend Show us how it should be played.

  • @TobiLeggend hahahaha, im gonna check if you have any videos. However its not gonna get better than a haha

  • I'm your son...

  • is it just me or the fender guitar's sound is stingy? jus asking not a fan of it.. bleeeeeeeeeh

  • Le tout est très bien ! Juste le time au début, il est beaucoup trop poussé, à comparé le groove qui quand même très assis !

  • Damn. The best girl guitarist I have seen on youtube hands down.

  • love rains down on meeeeeeeeeee.........oh so beautiful

  • Her technique looks totally off, but her playing is totally on. Kinda strange, but very good nonetheless!

  • @Nevermorian Her technique is "totally off". Where, when and how exactly? You simply cannot play like this without technique. I'm looking forward to seeing your version posted in the near future.

  • @gusset08 You got me wrong, mate. Her technique is flawless, but if you'd judge JUST by the looks of it, it kinda looks off. She mainly uses two or three fingers of her left hand, and her picking hand has some weird look to it too (most players tend to remain an open hand) . Maybe I didn't make myself clear, english is not my mother tonque. That being said, I cannot play this tune so I'm afraid that I have to disappoint you when it comes to me uploading my version of this tune.

  • @Nevermorian there is no right or wrong, there is good way, bad way, and your own way:)

im not saying you said something wrong, but im replying to your reply because my reply is a reply to what you replyed to, so what i write is somewhat in context... personaly i use whatever "techniques" that feels best for the notes im working on. and i suck, but she dont, and she has a none "text" book arpoatch, praise here for her talent, not her "flawes".

  • I love how she looks nervous at the end as though she played it wrong lol.

  • Elle a parfaitement compris ce qui pour moi constitue la faiblesse du titre : Le vide intersidéral du "refrain", qu'elle a l'intelligence de remplir avec des licks bien trouvés, qui ne cassent pas le rythme et le groove. Franchement chapeau !

  • You're the first girl i ever seen playing the guitar that impressed me...

  • She puts me to shame

  • I've watched so many of these videos...just speechless....please tell me she's not actually just figuring out these phrases by ear! I thought I was pretty good after learning Lukather's solos (middle & end) of "Rosanna"..Now after watching this, Happy as Larry & Giant Steps...I think I'm just gonna quit guitar...

  • @supertrippfan ".please tell me she's not actually just figuring out these phrases by ear!"

Any musician who can play like this can figure out stuff like this by ear. It's part of how they get that good. Guthrie spent years transcribing other people's music by ear. Almost ever jazz musician does.

  • she is able to brighten the day of any bitter

  • funky and jazzy together

  • you are good indeed !!!

  • She's not in the kitchen!

  • o_______O

  • Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You're a fucking amazing girl ;)

  • Can't help it, Like a Boss.

  • Pure skills here

  • Govan's daughter

  • MUYYYYYYYYYY BUENO

  • отлично!

  • nice, great, awesome, little fingers XD! ....nothing else to say :/

  • Made me shiver

  • absolutely incredible performance

  • i quit...

  • Holy crap thats impressive!

  • Very impressive.

  • totally stunning playing

  • I´m too old to fall in love with this guitargirl .... but I fell anyway.... Shite... Lucky me I´m not gay cuz if I was I would have fallen in love with lot´s of wierd guitarguys ... Eeeww

  • O_O oh shoot wow she can play , *tips hat* im impress

  • Good cover, but it sounds like the same song to much.

  • @Chrhannil That's an oxymoron

  • @cbappa2 I know, but my point was that its great played. Though it sounds a little to much like the original song.

  • @Chrhannil

yeah but kind of a thing is that to say haha. It's very obvious that this is impressive but it pisses you off because she's a 16 year old girl who kicks our asses :P Just admit it, she's better and she's mastered the song. "sounds a little to much like the original song", it's a cover, not a remix, the hell do you expect

  • @oliverandm No it doesn't get me pissed of honestly.

I'm really amazed that she can play that clean, got great technique and got a hell of a great sound.

Just when i hear a cover i do the stupid thing to expect two things.

    1. You recognize the song, but it doesn't sound all like the original

    2. The one doing the cover got their own thing, their own style of playing it.

In this case it sounds just to much like the original. That makes me go for Guthrie instead of Jess.

  • @Chrhannil There are a whole bunch of lines and tails to phrases that she has put her own spin on, not to mention her 'classic bluesy Strat' touch throughout - lots of dynamic and tonal differences to the original.

  • So where can I purchase your CD? Odds are I would listen to it every single day... yeah pretty good odds.

  • UMMMM I'm in love with you!!!!

  • Jess I think you are a great talent!

  • Se avessi sentito solo l'audio e alla fine del brano mi dicono:ha suonato una ragazzina di 16 anni-

Sarei scoppiato dalle risate!! Jess sei straordinaria!! music I love. Yves italy

  • @NathanMantle You're absolutely correct.I believe she started when she was

12 yrs old.Just go and watch that youtube clip of her playing Billy Idols White

wedding when she was just 12 yrs old and compare it to the latest vid of her

playing Larry Carlton's Room 335.It's incredible that she's got to this level in

only 5 1/2 yrs!..I can't quite get my head around it!

Here's the clip by the way "watch?v=WqVp1BEkzZo"

  • Lol, she's shy AND she played it waaaaay better then Guthrie. And she's a girl. Prodigy

  • pretty solid

  • cool

  • Wonderful!!

  • There's something awkward looking about her bends.... but meh, whatever gets the job done - she's bloody good anyway.

  • @inefficient i believe it's because her hands are really small.

  • wowww....

  • Ok anyone that said that the tone and vibrato is better than Guthrie's should really be quiet. But then those saying that she shouldn't have attempted this as she can't play virtuoso should also keep their comments to themselves. She played this with immense control and adding her own flavor to an amazing tune by Guthrie. Not many people can add their own identiy, and studying Guthrie's books I know one thing. He emphases on having your own sound, and Jess certainly has that. Well done young lady.

  • Jah vi muita gente tocando essa musica no youtube ... Mas essa mina toca de um jeito mto foda, a pegada dela eh Fusion total, o timbre, a mao direita com dedo e palheta...

Congrats Jess... Like TheRealDavidGray93 says, the fusion is strong in this one...

  • the fusion is strong in this one.

  • i love the A part

  • What ?! ...and I complain about my short fingers, ehh.

  • Congratulations, very good rendition. I am expecially impressed by the feeling of the bendings, one of Guthrie's playing typical nuances, the hardest to mimic. Keep on rockin!

A big CIAO from Italy! M.

  • fuckin awesome ;o

  • I played Monkeyfest with Jess.... I hadn't seen this until today, brilliant!

  • Would LOVE to see Tal Wilkenfeld with this chick.

  • Break my fingers and kill me now. OMG.

  • omg

  • omg this girl kills it!

  • so sweet... mmm mmm ... tastiest blues jazz i've heard

  • She's tops in her school, Summa Cum Ladda dee da. When will she school us is the question? I look forward to hearing her first lesson and the many to come. You go girl!

  • wow

  • I love her expression at the end like, "Did I Make it Right?" :D

  • Hands small, chops huge. Outstanding!

  • that was abnormal..

  • What a strange Kitchen...

  • No te preocupes mi vida, yo me preparo mi sandwich otra vez, tu sigue tocando pa que me enseñes.

  • Heard this without noticing this wasn't Guthrie... UOU.. outstanding!!

  • Very impressive, you have all my respect !

  • her left hand its floating??, cant see her arm

  • wonderful slippery thing....sounds..like..

  • i love you

  • Seriously , who could dislike this???

  • Simply amazing.... Waiting for your first album!!

  • This is BAD

  • Wow Amazing improv...Somone PLEASE TELL ME...what scale is she using to play jazzy...??

  • @555King666King777 this is not an impro, is a cover of guthrie govan song :s she added some personal notes and licks but not an improvized solo

Wtf I'm studying this song to have access to college of music in barcelona :(

  • how come i am seeing comments saying that her vibrato and tone are better than guthrie's? (its not) by the way your comparing an album recorded in a studio with this(youtube quality!) how can you even say that? besides that, she plays amazingly well for her age but she shouldn't be playing things like guthrie with the twiches she has that will annoy her for the rest of her life because i can see she can play fast(but not well) and this shoould have been adress before starting to play virtuoso

  • isnt this more like jazz than blues?

  • @Depthsreflection this is definitely not jazz.

  • @bobbygoesbig I couldn't disagree more.

  • @wingsfan1981 ok, why not...how exactly is this jazz?

  • @bobbygoesbig This is definitely closer to jazz than blues. Guthrie is a fusion player, and fusion stems from jazz.

  • @baka6660 forget it

  • Soothing playing

  • I could listen to her for hours and never tire of it. I want to play like that when I grow up(I'm 55).

  • @kevinvn99 Me too, I'm only 49 LOL. She sure played me under the table!

  • SOYYYYYYYYY gayyyyy yuhuuu

  • ME LA AGOOO SIIII

  • Stupid damn ads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • she`s good but i thought she was 8 years old or somthin like that

  • Hallo from Germany. Can´t get enough, amazing.

  • FANTASTIC!!! SO TALENTED Xx

  • She definitely has the FEEL! That's why it sounds so damn good.

  • guthrie looks really strange with straight hair

  • Amazing, Jess!

LOVE your playing! You're awesome! :-)

  • 18 people sold their guitars.

  • 18 people are she - males !!!! lol

  • well done !!

  • thats sick.

kinda pisses me off. thats against social logic.16 year old girls shouldnt play like that.

thats some kind of new evolution evidence. its like being a better human.

this girl has a big future.....

    haha :D

  • Wow your an inspiration to us all. Get out there and start gigging with a band Jess. Forget the computer

  • Ok, the girl is magical! Well and good. But who the crazy played the bass line? D:
