@misterwild100able Are you talking about the box that pops up and asks you for permission? If you are that is called UAC. Go into the control panel and set it to a lower setting if you don't want notifications every time you open a program. Be warned, if you do this it does lessen security a bit but so long as you have adequate antivirus software it shouldn't be a problem. I had it disabled when I had vista myself.
@yasirm18 If your computer is good enough the dreamscene won't really effect how fast it operates. Don't get me wrong, dreamscene still takes up resources but I can't see a difference with it on or off. Now on a low end pc you will notice only because you don't have the necessary resources available to run it.
awesome. But.. I'm sort of a noob who can't say which Service is important or not. And all the services got the same manufacturer which makes it just more freakin confusing.
Well, if you're not sure which service does what then you're probably just better off leaving them run. The big thing that effects startup is if you have a lot of startup programs.
That is weird. Have you installed any new drivers or software? What is your OS and how long has it been on your computer. If you wanted you could probably do a system restore to when it displayed four cores.
This will only work with a multicore processor. If your laptop doesn't have a multicore processor then you won't be able to do this trick. Since I have a quad core I can do this trick. You can, however, get rid of some startup programs you don't need like I did in the video.
Is yr computer Windows Vista Ultimate ?

Will this work in XP, I have a Q6600 Quad.
I found the advanced options under XP, and I set it to use 4 procs. I wonder if it will be faster under XP...:)
Andeeeeeeeeeeeee 2 years ago
Yes It will. I have the same processor btw. Its really nice.

thaman550 2 years ago
Yes it does work in XP. To do it go to the start menu and click cmd. Then from there type in msconfig and set the number of cores under the boot tab.

damn dude, does quad core really make a difference from dual?
fussface44 2 years ago
In certain things like video encoding yes it does. It also makes a difference if the program is optomized for a quad core cpu.
