I don't agree wth browbeating. But there is some truth in it. Ontario now IS a have not province. Maybe they didn't have foresight, maybe there wasn't enough innovation? who knows?
I have to believe that constant attacks on a provincial government, made up primarily of an opposition party, will do in the party that makes up the Harper government.
I give some dap to Rex Murphy, he's made some good points here.
Flaherty's flatulence is just another example of the same churlish stupidity that that is a common thread throughout the Harper government. these guys are idiots.
I think for the most part the average, politically uninformed Canadian doesn't give a damn about the way Steven Harper runs his government, and if they do, it's most likely only because they are bombarded by subtle, but evident, Liberal favoritism in the media, who, by default, lean towards the Liberals' point of view on most issues.
Those who allow the media to pull their opinion in any direction without giving serious thought to the issue are nothing more or less conformists, but them, people love being conformists, it makes them "normal."
Nobody said I don't look at other points of views, but nobody says I have to agree with them. The problem is that the media is CLEARLY for the Libs and they should be neutral, and they're clearly not. Why do you think countries like China suppress the media? Because they can control the opinion of the citizens to fit their own purpose, they don't encourage free thought, they encourage "We're the media, assume we're right and don't think and learn for yourself; we'll show you how to think."
Agreement. And I for one am thankful, in this political climate of inadequate or deficient leadership and talents, left, right, and centre, that there are certain media people speaking plainly, soberly, and even honestly from their perspective- not everyone's perspective, not even widely embraced, but there's no other real, constructive, HEARD opposition in this debauched political climate. Rex Murphy, a bit of a wild-card, can't be politically pigeon-holed, maybe as an eccentric curmudgeon.

I guess Ontario likes being bullied insulted or ignored. It worked for Brian Mulroney, and now it's working for Harper.

How long will our government last. Our Prime Minister states he is allowing the plug to be pulled if the Opposition want it to.

The big problem with Canadian politics. They spend all they're time bashing eachother to win votes, and hardly any time doing anything that matters.
