  • this is an awesome video..

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this video. My toddler son is autistic and hasn't had his hair cut in months due to not being able to handle sitting in a strange hair salon. I had been thinking that it would be so easy to do it at home if I only knew how-as he lets me play with his hair at home no problem. I'm going to give it a try after watching this. Thanks!

  • Great Tips! Thank You Very much!

  • You've helped me in every single way I needed, Thank you

  • Hey tips lady! I found your video today and used it for my almost 2 yr old son while he was in the tub. I did the basics while he was in and fixed it up after towel drying his hair and the cut actually looks darling! Thanks so much for he video! P.s cute boy you got! He looks like you!

  • Hi, thanks so much for the terrific feedback! I'm so glad my video helped you. What a great idea, cutting his hair in the tub; great distraction :o)

  • Thanks so much for the pointers, my family is always on a tight budget where sometimes I have to wait until next payday to take my son for a haircut and with them charging adult prices for anyone over age 10 it'd be nice to be able to cut his hair myself espically with how fast it grows and the hair dresser not listening to you about not using the electic clippers because it freaks him out (my son has autism). so beneficial.

  • Hi, I'm so glad my video helped! I know what you mean about the electric clippers. When my son was small, the hairdresser cut his neck with them; he would not go back. I was not happy as well considering all the people that they use those buzzers on.

  • This is the best site I found for cutting hair!!

    Soooo good!!! Great!

  • Thanks so much!! I really appreciate your great feedback :o)

  • If i get a 3 on the top and back and 2 on the sides will it look bad

  • My neighbour just called and woke me up. She wanted me to come over and cut her kids' hair. The girls - no problem. The boy - never cut short hair before. Doing some last minute research. This was just what I needed, thank you! :)

  • Hi, I'm so glad my video helped!

  • your really gooddd!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this. I found it really helpful and I managed to cut my three year old son's hair with no drama!!

    Thanks again :-)

  • thats nice. a lil eminem look there.

  • Your son is cute

  • The layering technique was the easiest & clearest explanation I've seen. yet this boy's hair is fine and wavy. I wonder how it works on heavier, coarse hair.

    Love the New Jersey accent.

  • Hi, it works great. Actually, his hair is coarse and wavy. It may be hard for you to see that in the video, but if he grows his hair out it's thick, coarse and very wavy. Hope that helps!

  • @YouTips4U

WHERE COULD I GET SOME SCISSORS AT?

  • You can buy a very good pair that will suit your needs at drugstores, like CVS.

  • THANK YOU! thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm a "hairdresser in the making", I go to a hairdressing school and i have a bit of experience with cutting hair, so people always ask me to cut their hair. I use youtube to learn cutting tecniques, and this tutorial was a great help! I'm cutting my best friends hair this saturday, and i wanted to browse some tecniques to improve my results. Again, thank you, you're really talented! :)

  • Hi, you're very welcome! I'm so glad my video helped :o)

  • Hi! Tina from Denmark here :)

I created an account on youtube just to tell you that your guide was a huge help when I cut my sons hair. He's a year and a half and it was so nice to have him sit in front of the TV watching cartoons while getting a good summer hairdo :) I've cut his hair before, but only using very(!) simple techniques - and after finishing half an hour ago, I think he looks much better and bigger too :D

    Thank you so much.

  • Hi Tina, thanks so much for your terrific feedback. I'm so glad my video helped. I'm so glad you joined YouTube!

  • That's a nice haircut. I'm speechless.

  • I love it! I would cut my dads hair but he wont let me lol so I just cut my ken dolls hair instead and it looks great now:) haha

  • Thanks for the video. I've been trying to cut my boys' hair lately. I have a hard time with the straight hair and doing the bangs. I don't want it to look like a bowl cut! My boys that have a little body or curl are easier to do (doesn't show my mistakes as much). Any tips on bangs. A hairdresser showed me to do little angle cuts on the bangs, but something still isn't right.

  • Hi, please see part 1 of this video for help with the forehead area and bangs.

  • i think this is helpful.thanks alot and God bless you

  • I'm goina try this on my lil bro's hair. he has a mullet at the moment

  • BETTER THAN EXPERT VILLAGE!!

  • my dad and i saw this video, thanks so much for your lessons

  • Yes thank you!

  • Hi Youtips, I love your hair cutting tips. I've been watching stylists for awhile but then my kids started giving me fits so I had to buzz their hair. Now that they are getting older I would love to give them really nice haircuts. You've been a really great help with that, so thank you! Also, I wanted to know if you ever thought to make your own lotions and conditioners, lip balm, etc. I'm starting to get into that and find it really satisfying learning all of these new and wonderful things.

  • very simply explained thank you so much

  • This was very helpful..

  • I wish my hairstylist could cut like you..

  • 1) very practical.

    2) exactly what I was looking for

    3) it is not just matter of saving money, my 4 year old son doesn't like to go barber shop who is nice but strainger to him, he says " dady you do my haircut"

    4) Good camera showing the subject, but could seperate the camera cap, the sound of the hanging cap is disctracting.

    5) it is much better than some barber shops for men.

    thanks a lot

  • Hi, thanks so much for your terrific feedback. I'm so glad you liked my video!

  • Thanks a lot for this valuable knowledge with your impressive delivery it seems that anybody can do this hair cut t home thanks once again

  • i like that haircut I wish my mom could do it like that

  • Your son is sooo cute! I can definitely see the resemblance. Beautiful mother and cutiepie son! xx

  • You are so sweet! We both thank you. xxoo

  • I have watched so many videos on giving men haircuts because the stylist can never seem to get my son (who is 2) to sit still long enough. Today, he actually ended up with a mullet!! Your videos are the best I have seen. They are sooo easy to understand, and I love the end product. Thank you so much!

  • Hi, you are so very welcome! Sorry to hear what happened to your little boy. I've been there too. I used to have to place my son on my lap so he would stop crying long enough for her to cut anything. It was so traumatic for him. I'm so glad my video helped :o)

  • Great Job!!. You are not professional but looks professional. Thanks for sharing it with us =).

    God Bless!

  • Hi, thanks so much for your terrific feedback :o)

  • Today i have to cut hair for 2 friends of mine...it will be the first time i do this, they first laugh when i told them that i will first watch a video on youtube, but i like your videos :) it's easy to understand. Wish me luck...i'll come back with the result in a while :)

  • Hi, good luck! I think you are going to do a terrific job :o) Stop back and let me know how it goes.

  • @YouTips4U It went well, it was so easy :) thank you

  • Excellent! Thanks for stopping back to share with me :o)

  • You're so sweet and I'm sure this video is really helpful to a lot of people. Can I give you a couple of tips as a professional? If you hold your scissors between thumb and third finger instead of second finger you will have a lot more control (and maybe not cut yourself so often!) It will feel funny at first but you'll get used to it and it's so much better. Also, when using the scissors over comb technique if you hold your comb at the very left hand edge you will have more control. Good luck!

  • Hi, thanks so much for sharing you tips :o)

  • i can't wait to cut my fiance's hair! he LOVES the SUPER SHORT HAIR, BUT, i dont like it, so we said that im gonna be on charge of his hair, so, i can cut it as long as i want! :) i can't wait! thanks SO much for sharing!

  • This is great! I just cut my husband's hair for the first time, and it looks AMAZING! Thanks for the tips!

  • Woa

  • This is THE BEST tutorial I've found for cutting men's hair, thank you so much for being so helpful and thorough!

  • How do you cut bangs when the left and right side of your hairline is receive higher?

18 year old with a receding hair line >.<

  • What a great video! I looked and looked for tips on men's cuts with scissors and am so glad I finally found yours. My husband's new cut looks fab thanks to you :)

  • Thanks so much, most informative video and easy to follow.

Has given me some tips to improve my son's haircuts. Worked really well.

  • you did a great job, and thank you for shearing your techniques!

  • coool

  • u did a great job

  • Loved your videos, it worked perfectly on my 11 year old boy. Thanks so much!!!!

  • i tried using a cone and scissor technique on a friend of mine, based on the knowledge ive gained while watching my hair beind cut in the saloons but ive had problems aligning the hair and keeping an even cut... thanks for your video this was really informative i hope next time i will do better :)

    thanks again

  • That hairstyle makes that boy looks like a grown man.

  • I just tried following your instructions and cut my husband's hair -- brilliant results! No more expensive haircuts because mine looked just as good as any I've seen him get from the professionals. Thanks very much!

  • EXCELLENT VIDEO this was very helpful to me. Am thinking about cuting my husbands hair being that he works long hours and never makes it to the barber shop. Thank U cant wait to try your techniques

  • You are a great teacher. I appreciate the details and explanations so much! My boyfriend has wavy hair and I have had a tough time finding a technique I feel comfortable using to trim his hair. Thank you so much, this made my day!

  • Hi! I just wanted to commend you on a good haircut! I'm actually a hairstylist and I must say...not bad! :-)

  • is that your husband

  • so, i did give it a try and... IT WORKED!!

ty so much!! my 5 y.o. boy looked even handsomer lol in his pre-k graduation and i really owe it to you ♥

  • Excellent! Thanks so much for sharing :o)

  • This is a great tutorial! Nice tips! My mom has a smock for this with the same material for windbreaks! I think that I learned a lot from this and will do the same for my family when I have one. THANK YOU! :)

  • You do a very good job of blending the hair...normally when I take my boys to the salon to get a cut, because their hair is so straight, you can see all the scissor marks and it is very difficult to blend. I am going to try to cut their hair myself using your tips. Thanks for sharing!

  • im sure i have seen him on t,v or something. lol

  • this was really helpful (all your videos are)! i think i'm going to start trimming my boyfriends hair because he doesn't find the time to keep his hair cut from the salon very often, and it'd be easier to just do it at home.. thanks so much, i feel like i could actually manage to do it now from watching your vids.

  • HI, I just watched the 2nd video and have question. When I use comb & scissor technique, there seem to be a horizontal line forming that I can't get rid of. Also my son's hair is long at top and short on the back and side, how can I cut his hair and make a guideline from the top like you did?

  • Hi, use this technique to get close to the scalp. Be sure you are going in the opposite direction that the hair is growing. Bring the hair to the end of the comb and snip off a small amount at the time. If you need to take off more bulk, do it using your fingers like I show in the beginning. You only want to use the comb and scissors towards the end to get close. It's hard for me to really know what might be happening without seeing it. I hope I've helped some.

  • Regarding your second question, did you want to keep with the same look for your son (long on the top and short on the sides and back). If so, use a longer guide for the top and a shorter one for the sides and back. I hope that helps :o)

  • I think you're great and so informative!! I love your videos especially the highlighting at home. You should use your talent and knowledge and get your beauty license.

  • Hi, thanks so much for your terrific compliment!

  • Beautiful cut and a very cool guy. Thanx to all of u including the camera man :D

  • This was a great video. I am 27 and I've been cutting my husband's and our 2 year old son's hair. It is fun! I got some great tips from you! I always use the trimmers with the different numbers. But now I want to get a nice pair of scissors and see if I can do it the way you do! Thank you so much for doing this video!

  • You're very welcome! Thanks so much for your wonderful feedback. Let me know how your first scissor haircut comes out. I'm sure it will be excellent. You can use a combination of scissors and trimmers too; that can really look nice. I'm so glad you found my video helpful:o)

  • Thanks a lot! Great tips! I just cut my son's hair and it turned out great. I usually cut my kids hair but take a long time trying to make it more even. Very helpful ideas!

  • OMGosh- how lucky your friends and family are!! His hair looks great!! I've been trying to learn how to do my son's hair and you answered every question I had!! Now if I can just get my little guy (6yrs old) to sit still that long... ;)

  • Hi, thanks so much for sharing your feedback! I'm so glad your first haircut came out great. Mine did too! You will only get better and better from here and faster at it. My husband was reluctant at first too, but my son volunteered immediately, so he decided to see how my son's hair came out first. Once my husband saw how good my son's hair came out, he stepped right up for one. You're husband is terrific!! Good luck with your new hobby :o)

  • Thank you so much! This was very useful and the best hair cutting video in the whole youtube! I am going to try to cut my husbands hair today :)

  • You are so very welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful for you. Congrats on your first attempt coming out great. I'm sure your little grandson will soon look forward to it. My family loves when I cut their hair because we chat and make jokes; it's a great way to spend some time together..

  • Glad you liked it! Maybe someday I we'll get good enough at cutting hair that we won't need the protection anymore :o)

  • Wow - what a great video!! I had spent HOURS on YouTube looking for a good instructional video on a boys hair cut & reviewed many even by professionally trained people ~ but they weren't as detailed & easy to follow; nothing as informative as this!! It is a fantastic resource ~ thank you for creating it! And you are very personable, so it's so nice to watch you. I cannot wait to check out all of your other videos & subscribe!!! Have a blessed day!

  • Hi, thank you so much for your wonderful feedback!! I'm so glad this video helped you and I really appreciate your kind compliments.

  • hey it was so useful, i did my sons haircut and he is luking cute thanks a lot .............

  • Excellent! Thanks for the terrific feedback :o)

  • yes i didnt realize before. thanks but i tryied blow drying it and it went like mad, im serious please help, if i leave it it goes all frizzy and curly and if i blow dry it it goes straight and realllllyyyyyy thick :S

  • Hi, sometimes life is a bit of trial and error. At least you know for the future. You hair sounds beautiful - like it's very healthy and full of body. It may lie down a day or two after washing. I wouldn't wash it everyday because that will add to fluffiness. Let your natural oils come down your hair shaft to help flatten and condition your hair. Be sure to blow dry your hair from the top down so you don't further fluff up the cuticle.

  • i just got a haircut it was like in the middle of my back and now its like my shoulders length and it went really puffy :S so u have any tips on how to calm it down a bit?

  • Hi, that can happen with hair that has a lot of body. Once you remove some of the weight, your hair really fluffs up. Probably the best way to calm it down is with the use of a blow dryer and perhaps a large round brush. Be sure to condition your hair well to protect against heat damage. Now that you know this happens, you may want to keep it a bit longer going forward.

  • You've got a wonderful son. I can see he loves you very much :) God bless you and your family.

  • Thank you for your blessings! My son is such a great boy and we are very close. I appreciate your lovely comment :o)

  • you did a great job and your camera man too. you are so nice. love you

  • Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words.

  • nice video, do you have any videos on cutting your own side banges? I cut my own but I don't fell like i did a very good jog at it. Any tips?

  • Hi, I don't have a video up on that, but you can easily achieve a nice look by cutting down the bang on an angle toward your ears or simply trim them straight across and brush to the side; keeping them long.

  • i love the job you did could you cut my long hair

  • great job on the cut could you cut long hair

  • I want to cut my own hairs at home, any tips how should I start and how to do it?

    Thanks

  • Hi, please check out my video on how to cut your own hair. I think you will find it helpful.

  • my son ans daughter both have that ting I don't know but therer is a name for it, when someone has lots of hairs at the crown ! any tip for that?

    thanks

  • Hi, do you mean a cowlick. Most people have one. It's best to comb the hair in the direction that suits the cowlick and then cut it.

  • Also, if your son has a cowlick at the back of the head, be careful not to cut it too short because his hair will stick up.

  • this video is very helpful, very well explained, thanks so much!

  • You're very welcome! I'm so glad you liked it.

  • I have a 3 year old daughter and I just have to trim her hairs and make them little short so I don't have to do Pony tail(which does not suits her), how can I cut her hairs? Can you explain or do a video on Gilrs hairs?

    Thanks

  • Hi, I think the nicest cut for little girls is cutting their hair straight across the bottom and cutting bangs across the forehead. I used to trim my daughter's hair while she sat in front of Barney on TV. She loved him and he was a great distraction to keep her still. Hope that helps :o)

  • Great haircut! This is what I used to do with my boys many, many years ago, but then I forgot how to do it. Now that I'm remarried, I needed to learn again. Thanks for an awesome reminder - this is such a GREAT haircut for boys/men. My oldest boy liked his a bit longer, so I did the same technique just SLIGHTLY longer.

You did an AWESOME job, your son looks sooo handsome like that. Good looking kid (& mom).. great job! I LOVE your videos! ;)

  • Hi, you are so very welcome! I'm so glad you liked my video and my haircut.

P.S. my son really appreciated your compliment :o)

  • Hi, you sound so much like me - a do it yourself kind of person! Thanks so much for sharing :o)

I'm so glad you liked my video.

  • Great work! It really compliments his face. :)

And your boy is sooo cute!

  • Oh, I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks for complimenting my son - you made his night!!!

  • Excellent! Nicely done!

I have been cutting my husband and kid's hair for years and years. I use your method as well because a woman I knew years ago who was a hairdresser taught me to cut hair that way. It was the best few afternoons I have spent as it has saved us hundreds and hundreds of dollars over the years.

Great video ~ and what a handsome young man!

  • I'm so glad you liked the video! Thanks so much for sharing your personal experience. You're very fortunate to have had a hairdresser teach you and she was very kind to lend her knowledge. I have been doing my family's hair for a few years now and the savings have really added up!

  • By the way, my son loved your compliment :o)

  • It saves a lot of money, like you said. Thanks for sharing and thanks to the young man for allowing you to do the demo.

  • Nice! I have been trimming my kids hair for years! I hated the way the barber cut it too short. One time I just paid special attention and did it myself ever since. Its easy.I cut my fiancees hair and even my own too!

  • Kudos to you! Thanks so much for sharing. I hope others will give it a try too.
