This is good advice, but "Stop! Look! Listen!" makes a terrible mantra for running. When you're into a good run you do not want to be telling yourself "Stop!" -- no matter what the description behind it :p
Marathon dates back to the ancient Greece when a Greek man runs for miles only to inform the Greeks that the Persian invasion were repulsed in a battle known as the Battle of Marathon. unfortunately,i don't know the exact date it happened but i can recommend marathon athletes viewing this video complete marathon and half marathon training guides. plz contact me through ksatriakmal@yahoo.com if u r interested in marathon training.tq
Yeah, a lot of this doesn't really work very well unless you have the prototypical runners body. For us that are Mesomorph and carry a lot of muscle naturally, it is simply not possible to incorporate a lot of this into your run. At 230 lbs, Ive tried for years to lighten my impact through various techniques and I haven't made any significant gains. That said, my natural style hasn't led to any issues that keep me from distance running. But I like the overall idea of paying more attention.
The Army made us all run. Didnt do anything methodical on how to do it. Mpst people would get Shinsplints and even some cases of stress fractures. I had NEVER heard of any of this. EVER! A combat medic told me about ChiRUnning and from there I am finding all of this instruction on basically the same style of running. Is this the orthodox way of running for runners? Or is this a small school within the running world? It does all make sense and I intend to do this. Thanks for the video
You don't necessarily want to SHORTEN your stride. It's probably a little better to just go with the natural flow. When you run barefoot, you don't over stride and your stride is natural. That's the best way to run.
@isaacalinghi Overstriding is where your front leg goes out too far when running and you land on your heel. The idea is to keep your stride shorter and quicker instead of longer, at least on the front leg.
v]After dealing with ITBS for almost 4 months and worrying my running days were over because I was 40 and the knee pain was constant. I thought my Meniscus was shot. I changed to this running form and I'm back out there. I just received my first pair of Newtons.
Great video! I started running with this new form few days back and I feel that I'm doing a lot less effort. i used to have shin splints, but now they are gone. I think my shoes forced me to run heel strike. Using shoes with less cushioning at the heel (and lower heels) helps with the form.
i am a high school cross country runner and my coach is always telling us the same thing!! i really like the tip about coming down lighter on ur feet i have a tendancy to do that while im running and exspecally (cant spell) coming down hills!! very helpful thank you!!!

Yeah, I really need to work on my form... I was brought up as a heel striker, now I really can't break the habit

@isaacalinghi Over stride. over is the key word. over means too much. "going over the limit".
So to over stride you are going past your stride limit.. Or to long of a stride in front of you.
I know some one defined it but i like to over explain words to people who want to know our language better.
