You peaked my interest over the pronunciation of "carbine", so I had a look at Wikipadia and you are correct. However there is also the second pronunciation there as well. So which is more correct? "A carbine ( /ˈkɑrbiːn/ or /ˈkɑrbaɪn/[1]), from French carabine,[2]". I spent 20 years in the Australian Army carrying an AusSteyr F88C (Carbine) and we always pronounced it the second way as in 'karbine'. I guess it all comes down to how you are taught as a kid to pronounce words. Great vids.
