Growing up outside of Gee's Bend I didn't know how big this was to others until college when friends told me that a documentary was shown about my family and the quilts in class. I have dozens of them at home and never thought twice about them. Just goes to show you how much times have changed. Finally there's a focus on the Black family and its struggles and triumphs.

I was shamefully ignorant of the history of Gees Bend (can only sincerely blame my education (schooled in the 60's and 70's for I know this was not even in current events topics). (til a few weeks ago) I stopped to watch a documentary because of "the quilters of gees bend" documentary. I am hoping to have the opportunity to see this play. Congrats!
