They say that to get music noticed you must be interesting at the beginning, but this piece seems to take an infinity to get nowhere......alot of screeching and surely no rival to the Italian four seasons of Vivaldi. Though elsewhere Glass does captivate but not here in my view.
THank you for putting this up. I saw this live in Denver last night - pretty great. Does anyone have the 3rd movement of this concerto? I can only find the prologue, mvt 1, 2, 4.
@zranney2 thank you so much for posting this wonderful concerto. The more I listen to Philip Glass, the more I love his music. It has a flowing, wistful and timeless quality not often found in contemporary classical music.
I have heard this wonderful music live in Prague on Friday performed by Mr. McDuffie... There was everything in it, it was so beautiful, it was unbelievable, it.. was. I couldn't tell any longer sentence for about an hour after the performance, so spell-bound I was. Thank you..
I kept watching myself watch the seasons change rapidly in my mind while I stood staring into the sky, watching myself get older, snow settling and melting just as quickly. Flowers bursting from the ground, and dying just as fast. I watched myself lay down beneath the ground and disappear and the seasons flow on, the flowers sprouting and wilting, the snow piling and melting.
@The1Modern1Machine that is beautiful what you write, indeed, the eternal cycle of birth and death for all living things. This music by Philip Glass expresses it exactly. Fabulous.
McDuffie amazed and astounded Savannah earlier this week with an incredible performance of PG's American 4 Seasons at a preview event for the upcoming Savannah Music Festival in mid-March.
THANK YOU for posting this! Going to hear it in TWO DAYS at The Strathmore near DC - a VERY intimate venue, one of my favorites, and I can hardly wait!!
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS UP! Last time I heard this was at its London premier in April. The atmosphere was electric! Felt so lucky to be there and the memories are flooding back...
Increible. Grande Glass.
