  • I went 2 rosie's girls.... it's pretty cool!!

  • I'm Wanda the welder...girl power!

  • It is great to see any kids, girls or boys, using their hands to make things. I didn't see one pair of clear safety glasses or a leather welding jacket on the girls. Long sleeve cotton shirts are good for protecting the skin from burns associated with the ultra violet arc light, but not from molten metal or sparks.

I think the class is great, but a little more safety....especially if you're going to broadcast this.

  • wow---- that's awesome,,

  • They are all adorable. Kat Clear rocks!

  • sounds like a feminist video, haha.

  • and why is this a boys vs girls thing anyhow?

  • "girls could do things boys could do"

whooptie do dah...who says they can't? Girls always want to do what boys do, but who wants to do what girls do?

  • Listen: This is empowering for girls, it isn't a female vs male thing. How you can spin this into something negative is beyond me.

  • then why the quote?

  • williston and st george VT FTW!!!

  • Nice job, good to see the kids learning. Don't forget to use safety glasses :)

  • Damon Dark wishes to give you a moment or two of alien-zapping fun to take your mind off all that hard work. Damon Dark knows that strong, independent ladies totally rock! :)

  • Get back in the kitchen!

  • lol @ get back in kitchen

  • i'd love to see them all build skyscrapers for the big bucks

  • neverlet a girl do a mans job

  • Pwned lol!

  • wow that's great!

  • Hey girls, that was AWESOME! Very cool art! I've always wanted to try welding...can't cause I have a pacemaker, I envy you.

  • I wanna learn how to weld!

  • wow---- that's awesome,,

  • wouldn't those bracelets chaff like a mofo? Im one of the guys that woulnt do that by the way... Getting hot and sweaty is over rated.. Shame on you girls, you should be better then that.

  • Social pressure at 9-13 made me the man who I am today. I shook those haters off thanks to my welding skillz.

  • this is pretty cool

  • yeah i was on

    MTV'S PARENTAL CONTROL..

    hahah i acted a fool..lmao

  • too white!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lets get an Affirmative Action program under way immediately!! !!

  • wow that is lame.

  • very good .. :) , Btw does anyone want to add me as a friend?? Im new and i feel like a sad, sad alone person. Also anyone wanna take my comment virginity?

  • I think that sentence already took it :)

  • I agree with "a bit trite." It should be called Trite In Vermont.

  • A bit trite.

  • I come from a family of welders and my grand-ma-ma could hold her own. what 'empowers' these girls is not the ease or difficulty of the activity, but the fact that it has been historically a male only field. we now have female surgeons and male nurses. things are getting equal. imagine that!

  • nicely put Le Duo!

  • How cool is this! It sure is! Way to go! — Girl power!!

    ~Hãns - in Stockholm, Sweden

  • Thanks Hans!

  • cute, now send em to work while the men do the fighting

  • Oh for God's sakes, how absurd. "Womyn" in Vermont (and I use the term loosely) have to do everything. Have you ever seen the men there? Total eunuchs. That is, those who aren't sleeping with their daughters (major inbreeding).

  • Wow, what a hater. What got you to be this way? I guess being close-minded and slinging insults is what all the cool kids do, though, so you keep right at it. Sure to make you way more popular than those Vermont freaks who support diversity and equality.

  • That's why there are so many lesbians there. Ever been to Burlington? lol!

  • arbit, yes I have. lol. The women are beasts and the "men" are nervous. Girl power? Sheesh.

  • You say "so many lesbians" like it's a problem. That's not a bug, honey, it's a feature. And Anne appears to be straight up lying through her teeth (no pun intended) or on her visit to Burlington she surely would have seen more than beastly women and nervous men.

  • I live in Vermont. And this is retarded. FYI welding is so damn easy. Not hard. Not impressed.

  • hahahaha, who cares what "women" can do

    these vermonters are pathethic

  • This is cool. Women can do almost anything a man can. There are few things women CANNOT do. There is only one thing I know WILL NEVER HAPPEN.....Beat the men's boxing IBF Heavyweight champion of the world. Imagine a woman beating George Forman in his prime. NO WAY NO HOW!

  • go girls

  • why why why have these babes been marred into thinking gurlz cant do this? what idiot culture has even created the mentality that babes only do certain stuff? its like my wifes mother said that she couldnt do some things because, & now get this, ""it will disturb her "female organs"". i almost fell over when i heard that! send the elitistt jacks into a real life, close Harvard, Yale, others and make them actually produce something other than blah blah blah.........

  • HAY EVERY BODY THIS STAINK

  • Yeah Vermont.. I think this sounds like an awesome program.

  • whoa I wish I had this when I was stuck in vermont.

  • You go girls.

    Woo Hoo............... GIRL POWER

  • looks interesting!

  • count brainless- remember that it was mostly women who welded and built the ships and planes in world war 2. Get a life, oops, that seems impossible cause you are a countless of brains.

  • "you are a countless of brains" yeah, that makes sense

  • thanks for making this video, it was wonderful and happy and certainly empowering for many, including my self who has 4 sisters and 1 bro.

    keep the good work

    david in san francisco

  • Thanks David!

  • Uhhh. .. ... crazy. .. ...!

  • Only an idiot would think welding makes a girl a dyke... grow up and get over your fear of empowered women. Every time I see a woman do "a man's vocation," and do it well, I actually start believing we might outlive the ignorance of the dark ages. Way to go.

  • I think its ignorant how you think doing some menial labor task "empowers" you, give me a break. Wow, you can change a tire, whoopdefucking do, let me go start a camp where we do laundry, knit clothes, and bake cookies. Maybe that'll "empower" little boys, pshh, please.

  • But... but... you'd be able to make cookies. And cookies are tasty. I've never been a fan of the word 'empowering' but this project is decidedly a good thing as it lets young girls learn about a new skill, express their creativity and give them thoughts about going into sculpture or welding in the future. And it's about creating and bonding with people their own age, in what can be a difficult time socially - I can't see anything wrong with that. Cheers for reading.

  • No doubt, cookies are good, very good but that doesn't empower anyone. I just find it rather disturbing that when women get into something guys like, like football, boxing or basketball, they all disturbingly curve towards becoming dikes. Unfounded, yes, but I see the trend never the less, not really worth putting any research into, just a speculation.

  • Rosie the Riveter started during WWII when the men went off to war and not during the 1950's. By the time the 1950's came around, women were back to their natural role of breeding. The men got their jobs back after the war ended in 1945. We had a better and more organized society until their children(baby boomer's) came to age and destroyed it all in the 1960's.

  • Ha ha, thanks for the great "history" lesson, sgraniknn! You wanna keep 'em barefoot and pregnant, don't you?

  • What I want does not change any of the facts.

  • girls are stupid.

  • you go girls im a welder for 40plus years and glad to know that there are girls that want to do this kind of work you are the type that do not shuck hard work keep the sparks flying God bless you all

  • Awsome job..very awsome. You all did a great job ladies. You all should be proud of yourselfs.how can I sign up ?my child thats not mine, her`mom is.. dead and her grammy lost her leg.I think a program like this could help

  • its not rosie o'donell silly!!!

"The camp is named after the 1950s fictional feminist icon Rosie the Riveter who commandeered the phrase, "We can do it!"

  • Thanks shansimp for the clarification! there is more about Rosie the Riveter at the youtube site: sevendaysvt

  • hey i got invited to go to that camp... because i live about 15 minutes away from williston... yeah... vermont is pretty much... nowhere.

  • im stuck in vermont... and it sucks..

    lol

  • Very butch.

  • I know the great state of Vermont will not appologize for its cheese, but this?

  • That's so cool! I wish I could've done that...

  • Very cool. I would have loved to do that when I was a kid! I'm an artist & love tools but have never welded. The girls look like they are having a blast.

  • The numbers of females in the welding industry today is increasing-- many people say its because women have a steadier touch.

  • I can see that being an asset for a welder.

  • Great work, what an excellent workshop, you offer more than welding skills to these girls. Keep up the good work... Jane. France

  • Thanks so much for your comment Jane! Merci!

  • Great work, what an excelent workshop, you offer more than welding skills to these girls. Keep up the good work... Jane. France

  • The sponsors of this program are on marijuana, I lived in vermont until I was 10. That's motivation right there! :-)

  • I got stuck in welding class in highschool, and I ended up loving it, and now recommend the class to everyone. This is wonderful!

  • We had welding class in my school as well. Boys and girls had to learn how to cook, sew, woodwork and weld! I don't think they do it anymore though.

  • I thought this had something to do with Rosie O'Donnell.

  • hey make some comments guys and please subscribe...it will give me some positive motivation!

  • awesome. the teachers are so hot. I wish I had the camp when I was younger.
