  • j'adore cette music

  • loving the bass line in this song

  • oh I love them. very raw and plain and honest music

  • Yes true daimenkainffxi- tell me once heard that motorcade of generosity isnt so amazing that good things dont happen each time that it is heard-Mr mastodon farm, aint no good. oh my. so freakin awesome.

  • Actually, Cake is not rap. It's a sort of borderline funk/rock.

  • Not sure I like the vibraslap in this song. But this isn't one of my favorite songs anyway.

  • I simply don't think CAKE is anything close to rap. Love this song, and as always with CAKE this is a pretty accurate rendition.

  • does anyone think CAKE is rap? they're nothing like rap

  • What a tasty song.

  • the only time rap and cake go together is when you take cake over to a friends house, and of course you dont want it to get cold or dried out , so you rap it , yes i intentionally spelled it wrong

  • My comment is really old, so it's a bit outdated with my opinion of now, but The Distance is still rap. It has to do with musical sound; comparing it to fall out boy headbanging is completely irrelevant in terms of music as that has to do with someone's stage presence. If John was smackin' booty and wavin motionin' wit' his pimp hand, I wouldn't call it rap.

  • he looks like grissom from CSI Las Vegas hehehe

  • Just remember man, The Distance is pretty much a rap. You hate mainstream rap I'm sure.

  • Mainstream "rap" is generally not a band full of talented, but sarcastic musicians; it's generally a producer with some sort of sequencer that you can plug any old "artist" over top of indiscriminately. The level of interplay is different, and the levels of listening are different.

  • Very true, and that's why I do enjoy the linguistic qualities of the Beastie Boys as a rap band. As with CAKE, Beck and the Barenaked Ladies's rap songs.

  • dude, it's called spoken word, or speak singing. that's like calling fall out boy metal because they head bang while they play.

  • how is the keyboardist doing that arpeggio thing? with only holding down a couple keys

  • Preset I assume.

  • its an arpeggiating function built into the keyboard that sequences the notes being held down, those nobs ontop of the keyboard determine the tempo, number of octaves etc

  • Being a freshman at a medium-sized university, I must say that Cake just fucking ownes.

  • This song is just amazing live. Reading the conversation below, I've got to agree with everything there. The music industry sucks, that's one reason I support indie music so much, like my favorite band Interpol. Interpol is extremely popular in Europe, not so much in the states, which just proves that Americans listen to crap. As a Senior at a big university going to parties all you here is that crap Ying Yang Twins and all that puffed up no talent acts. Stop blasting Soulja Boy in your tahoes

  • after loving cake's first four album's with a passion some might consider unhealthy, i was sorely disappointed when i listened to this one, but i gotta say, after hearing the live version of this song, it's quickly climbed to one of my top favorite cake songs, thank you so much for posting stuff from this concert, especially this song, truly fine work from every single band member. seriously man, by posting this video, you've enriched my life a great deal, so thanks again, keep up the good work.

  • Love this song. Cake rocks.

  • freaking sweet! Cake rocks ass!

  • Cake isn't as popular as the Ying Yang twins because they have their own style. The ying yang twins were created by people who know everything about business so they know what to create that will make the most money. I like to call it, and basically the entire pop scene "shiny music"

  • good lord the bass player is hot...wish he would take off the hat...hahaha...

  • I never thought this song was too exciting but it's grown on me. Infectious beat.

  • This song has such an awesome beat... and John McCrea's voice is love. *hearts in eyes*

  • Cake has some of the best lyrics around.

  • this song is awesome live. awesome on cd. awesome when watching/listening to a live recording. Always awesome. Anything John McCrea touches tends to be gold.

  • older p bass

  • I love this song. Should be played faster in a concert though!

  • THEY are great my fav. band.

  • man this rocks

  • cake live = awesome when ur there, not when u listen to a recording

  • I've seen Cake live - he is an amazing front man and Pressure Chief is fantastic. One of my fave bands!

  • I don´t agree. This song is great and this live version too.

    Cake´s live performance is GREAT

  • i wanna know what knid of bass he has

  • gretsch.or he loves the packers

  • it seems to be a Fender P(recision)Bass. custom painted of course.

oh and this song friggin' rules!

  • Not the best song to be played live... kind of slow, not that much music. Kind of the problem with Pressure Chief. Not a bad song, just not one of Cake's best.
