just bought a green laser pointer advertised at 1mw but on the laser what has been delivered it says max output 5mw wavelength 532nm+10 class III laser product am i right in thinking this is a 5mw and not a 1mw im confused lol

if you get this laser and want it to burn then take the button off and it will be hard caus it is glued in there so keep trying yull get it.after that there will be a screw inside turn it too the left a little then put the button back on and try to burn something if it doesn then go back in and turn the screw a little more until it starts to burn a match or more.

If you're pointing lasers in you'er eyes the least of your worries is infra red which is 168mm off of the 532mm green lasers so unless you have serious issues with you laser it shouldn't be emitting infra red.

@MadnessOfMarmots Most lasers that you buy on ebay rated over 5mw are in fact just 5mw lasers that they take the IR filter off of, so it puts out 5mw of green laser, and 45mw+ of IR light, which can easily harm your eyes from any direction, not just shined directly in your eyes. Caveat Emptor when buying from China. Stick to the 5mws unless you're ordering from a reputable laser retailer.

Ebay can't sell lasers over 5mw to US.  I don't think I've ever seen any listed higher, but you can buy diodes up to at least 200mw.

@SG3089 Its a laser from wicked lasers, they always put IR filters on them making them safer. An that is not a cheap laser. I paid $49 for that exact model. I owned it for 5 years and it still shines bright.

The beam is very dim at mid summer, because the weather is very dry, if you compare the beam at autumn & summer, the beam is a lot brighter at autumn.... Well I don't know exactly how it is in America ;D

I just bought one at Radio Shack with my employee discount and it's pretty sweet. This one looks brighter and claims to be 50x brighter where as the Radio Shack one says 11x. I'm going to be ordering the Wicked Lasers one and probably doing a video comparison.

Yeah I got a cool 5mw green laser at radio shack for $50, it's a really good laser and I point it around my dog and he tries to get it, it's fun :) so if your looking for a good 5mw laser, I suggest this one

Basicly, Having a 5+ mW in the USA is illegal but no1 is going to stop you not inless you are pointing at aircraft or cars or peoples eyes. But in the UK 1mW is the Max power, but people have 125mW in the country same rules apply caught with it mis-using it then ur in the wrong. + most will have the stick on them if you peel it off it will take longer for them to proove its illegal

If its a foggy day then the laser will look this bright if its BEING POINTED AT YOU.

On a regular night when your pointing it away from you , it kinda hard to look at the beam.

Compared to my 35mW laser this Core doesn't shine as much but its still a fun one to have.

Many new digital cameras let you choose the exposure time... basically its taking a picture for seconds at a time... mine has it for up to 30 seconds ... so u set the camera and just move the laser in the wall.... =D

The laser beam is very faintly visible during the day only if you almost look at it directly, but it is easily visible at night, but hard to see if you're standing somewhere on the side and looking at the laser beam. btw did you use fog? cause it looks brighter than my 5mw CORE from wicked
