  • I have a big coon problem and just bought traps. Thanks for the tips and advice

  • will paint work as dye or will it scare the animals

  • did you catch a coon in that set?

  • @justkyle136

This set was only used for the video as a demonstration.

  • do you own the lND YOU TRAP?

  • @Coonhunting321

I am assuming you meant: Do you own the land you trap?

I do own land and I do trap on it, but most of my trapping happens on other people’s private land. I recommend going around and start knocking on doors. Show them the dog proof traps you are going to be using, and make sure you actually use them if you say you are. There is also state and federal land you can trap, but be careful, you cannot use conibear traps on it. Be smart about trapping on other peoples land.

  • i bought me some and im havin a huge problem with my bait being stole and the trap not settin. what can i do to fix that?

  • @bluetickstyle95 This is typically caused by field mice, FYI.

try to get some bait at the bottom of the trap.

  • what causes the trap to set off?

  • @4986hunterofsouth

If you are using large marshmallows under the trigger, the marshmallows will actually expand causing the trigger to be set off. Otherwise mice might be getting by without being caught.

  • could u demonstrate on how to catch a bobcat or fox.... you know your stuff and i was wondering if you could im 13 and really want to show my dad how its done iv caught more coons and coyotes then he has in over 12 years of trappen and this is only my 2nd year.. i love it and he has only caught 1 bobcat and that was in a snare iv caught 4 coyotes two in a snare 1 in a foothold and my dad has never caught 1 ina foothold so i wanna be the 1st to catch a bobcat in a foothold. please and thank you.

  • Great video !!

  • hearing the price of the trap i about shit myself then i looked at the comments to find out it was for a set of 12

  • do you dye the dog proofs the same as others?

  • @micmoable it is not cruel at all. the worst thing that happens to the animals while your away is boredom.

  • it dont take strong hands to set one of these traps just technique. nice video. thanks for posting!

  • love all your videos

  • @superchillme1

    Thanks!

  • I saw this guy at the National Trapper's Association Convention doing a demo on beaver snaring. Very informative, Tom!

  • @IllinoisOutdoorsman

    Thank you!

  • wow dude. you know your stuff. the price that you gave, is that for a dozen??

  • @bluetickstyle95 Thanks for your comment.

Yes, the price is for a set of 12 traps.

  • @bluetickstyle95 I have some thats for a dozen great trap

  • @bluetickstyle95

Yes that price is for 1 dozen!

  • plz put pictures up on your web site

  • @Mrcrittergetter7, I know I have been very busy. I will be putting pictures up on the site very soon. Please keep checking back on the site!

  • great vid

  • run 3 trap lines one of witch is a set of 25 duke coon cuffs. i run the set of 25 on a small creek, but fast flowing. back in december i went out on the line for the first timethis year. i had 25 coons! i love the coon cuff and wuld recomend it to anyone.

  • Tom i really liked the video. I have just bought the duke dog proof traps and plan on using them next season. thanks for the tips on the baits and lures.

  • @BigTTrappin on the duke dp how big is the opening that the coon has to reach into? im thinking its too small for a big big coon

  • @MrSummersj about your average size coon id say they might be to small for some.

  • @TheKota76 hmm where i trapo catch preety big coon about 20-30 pounds.. will it hold them you think?

  • @MrSummersj yeah good stakes in the ground. id seah if there older and little wiser maybe they want mess with it.

  • @TheKota76 i dont know if they will or not. only 1 way to find out

  • @MrSummersj try them out man and good luck on the line this season.

  • @TheKota76 thanks. good luck to you too.

  • @MrSummersj anything you need help with let me no

  • @TheKota76 there is one thing. what do you like better the duke or the lil grizz and what is your favorite lure for coon?

  • @MrSummersj the lil griz because it has a stake that help to hold it up. my favorite bait would probably be jack mackeral good coon bait you can ketch any fox and coyotes with it as well if im targeting only for coons i like to add a little fish oil to the sides and throw some peaces of marshmellows to the side for eye appeal.

  • @TheKota76 how big is the opening on these traps that the coon have to reach into.. put in diamiter please

  • @MrSummersj probably about 3-4 inches wide going around if you have any other questions got to my webpage and ask.

  • @MrSummersj

If it is money, I get more product for my money on Duke. For lure my favorite is by far Anchovy Oil. It is the best out there! Look for it on my site soon!

  • @TheKota76

Yes the size will be just fine for a coon over 35lbs.

  • @MrSummersj

The size of the opening is big enough for even your large coon 35+ pounds.

  • It would be great to make a video with a coon caught. Trap looks good...pretty sure he can catch a coon....but always good to see the traped specimen.

  • anyone recommend the lil griz over the Duffer foot trap?

  • @79Testo

I would recommend the Little Griz style of dog proof traps because of the parts that can be lost with the duffer. The Duffer traps are a very good trap, but need some modifications such as attaching a chain to the pin so you do not lose it.
