I saw this movie years ago on a random free TV channel late at night with my dad. We were just up flicking the channels and stopped on this movie.

I think I missed the first 15-20 minutes, but the movie was otherwise sensational and I've never forgotten it since. I intend to find a version of the movie (with ENG subtitles) that works in Australia.

whenever i see this film i miss my hometown, Busan so much. the industrialized dirty scenery looks so beautiful to me ,and I almost cried in the ending sequence in the public libary lol. 'Joon-seok-a! ddo oh kke!

one thing i'm confused about at the ending, right after the "hawaii" scene and jangdonggun's character gets killed.. does anyone know if his friend set that up?

phantomwltz, Oh sunghun asked Jangdonggun to go to Hawaii until everything is cool. Jang did not take his offer. Oh had no choice but kill Jang and he did. Remember what Oh said before "We have to do whatever they order us to do" One more thing, this movie is based on true story. I heard that Jang's real character was murdered by an ax, not a knife.

It's entirely up to interpretation. There were no 'direct proof' showed in film that suggests sukjun set it up. Personally, I think Sukjun had vague idea on what was going to happen to jangdonggun so he offered jang to go hawaii.

great video. this was one of the first korean movies i saw. i remember towards the end of the movie, when one of the friends visits the guy in jail. that was a touching scene. also you have to love their pusan dialect.
