Did anyone else feel surprisingly numb at this scene? I wanted so hard to be like sobbing at this scene because it "felt" so powerful, but I felt like it was just too much. I can't understand it, because I love Wainwright's rendition of the song, and the scene is very well put together. It's hard for me to understand the numb feeling I had.

I can't believe people are actually spending time contemplating whether or not this character went "to hell" because she chose to strip this man of his power. Hell is on earth. Are you missing the point? If there were a hell, HE would end up there. The scene where he kneels down before the cross praying is about the most disgusting display of hypocrisy there is. I have to say, I was THRILLED at the end of the film when Jorge beats the shit out of him with the tire iron.

This movie scene was really meant to question your religious belief over humanity. So ask yourself Did Veronica goto hell? If you believe that she went to hell because she killed herself and kidnapper still has a chance to goto heaven. I mean if thats what you would really like to believe then you could be a person with very little humanity not much different than the kidnapper.

I don't think she went to hell even though suicide is sinful. Even objective sin has its subjective component, such that the culpability will be reduced, perhaps nullified in certain circumstances. I think you could also interpret it as she will make sure God punishes him for his sins.

She killed herself so she can goto hell. I do remember her seeing the kidnapper preying infront of statue of mary. He was a mexican cathiolic and it was her last act of defiance against that kidnapper and his belief. And it pierced through his concience and shook his soul. She was talking to him human to human directly with him without his god. She said fuck your heaven fuck your god I would rather goto hell not to be around people like you.

Why did she jump after finding out that they had her son? Why would she abandon him with them, rather than waiting, to see if an opportunity came up?
