i never beat this game. Very challenging, but also annoying in the sections of the game that require you to literally draw a map, and having your high level party get wiped out lol.
You might be able to find an apple 2 emulation version. As I recall, to get a Bishop you needed 14 in Intelligence and 14 in Piety. I miss having alignment in my RPGs nowadays!
There is an Apple 2 version of this. Doesn't have the music or the colorful walls of the dungeons. There are a lot of puzzle/npcs that are interactive with keywords. Typing some choice cursewords gives the funniest responses, and the NPCs will become hostile if you curse at them too much! Though they won't save their grudge and will forget to be mad at you if you load the game again.
i used game genie to cheat stats and it autosaved my broken party. I never got it to work since. Only game ive ever thrown across the room and smashed up. Damn you game genie!!! Loved that stupid game.
my favorite weapon for fighters is the Soulstealer. invoke its cursed power and you do a shit load of damage. right now, my main fighter can hit over 1k dmg
Ha I just remembered this game and had to search for it in youtube!!! Awww so many memories! I loved this game and I managed to finish it with no walkthroughs or tips... I remember drawing my own maps and taking notes of everything! It really made me mad at times at how hard it was! :P But still good memories! Loved the graphics (some of the monsters looked awesome!) and the music!!! Die Sorn die!!!!!! :P:P:P
I loved this game. It's hard as hell in the beginning when your characters suck, but when your strong enough to kill the laughing kettle for XP, things are fine on from there. Well, teleporting into walls is a danger too.
started playin it on an emulator again. trying to finish without the option of a reset button/save and just dealing with deaths n shit. pretty hard but interesting
i was wondering if someone could help me with a problem in this game. some thief in the game stole the blue candle from my mage and now i can't access the second part of level floor can i find it again or do i have to restart the game?
extremely difficult by SNES standards. I bought this last year at a yard sale, played through the entire game, drew maps by hand on graph paper as in days of yore. consulted FAQs only infrequently for bits of information that were hindering my enjoyment of the game, like the relative power of different items. it seemed like the greatest adventure of my life.
Ahh yes, I remember doing that with these types of games. Graph paper, notebooks and antsy thumbs trying to unveil the secret of reaching the next tier of dungeon...epic times!
I love how people can get enjoyment from these old games. Sometimes I play really old games and I think "I bet I'm the only person on the planet playing this right now!"
One thing I ran into by accident was after you beat the game (was when I was able to do it), you could press start or some other button right when the sir-tech logo was coming up and you could get to a screen where you could scroll through all the monsters. I was only able to do it twice then never again. I've seen this mentioned on the web on how to do it but I couldn't get the instructions to work for me. Anyone know a sure way of doing this?
Do you know any sites or anyone at all who has an english translation of "WIZARDRY GAIDEN 4: THROB OF THE DEMON'S HEART (snes)"???? please send me message if anyone knows where to get english translation for this game.
I am aware of that... I figure anyone looking at this page, is a Wizardry fan and therefore may know of an available translation of the Japanese Wizardry games. I have googled for it and found nothing. There were a few translations made, but not for the "Gaiden" series.
In closing, I would slap you in real life just for being wise.
Numerous times and still do/try whenever i fire up a new game. You just have to keep trying over and over until someone gets lucky. Use the Priest's summoning spell (not the mage's) and hope for an air elemental. Air Elemental's will typically kill the Kettle in a single blow and then it rains down exp points on you (80 something K each if you have six char with you).
And yea, the Greater Demon, Nether Demon and Dark Lord are all very difficult. The nether demon kills outright sometimes. :(
i loved the music on this one... to bad ( no internet then ) i got stuck some where wayyyy below answering a question.... after 2 weeks of trying i gave up :/

I'll be honest...I had no idea they released it in Japan...it must've been some translation.
Sir Tech wasn't...financially stable as far as I figured, so they probably didn't have the cash for that...

The music is nice. I have a new copy for the Super Nintendo that was published by Capcom but I haven't opened it to play yet...!!

中盤までは攻略本なしでいけたのですが後半は本のお世話になりましたw
でも面白かったです
SFC版は訳がわからなくて放棄して、PS版でのリベンジでした
一時は起きてる間中謎をどうやって解くか考えてましたw

Love this game. I haven't played in years though. I saved my old manual for it so I can remember the spells and crap. All those silly weird names:P
I must confess to using the save/load feature to rob the laughing kettle blind!!;) I am loaded!!
