  • Notice how the demonstrator is unable to maintain spinal neutral. She loses the ability to keep the TA contracted thereby hyperexteningd the lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spine. This shows that even a fit individual lacks the ability to protect the lumbar spine if pathology is present with B LE extension without support. Leaving the opposite lower extremity in contact with the surface, or extending the mobile lower extremity in a modified range, will allow a smoother transition between stages.
