@stevesilvia, I ask you this. If I have never been baptised and about to die and surrender my life to Jesus, will I still go to hell because I missed BAPTISM?
@nobolistic like I said before, salvation belongs to God alone, who is the only one who knows our hearts.... It's not up to what I think, decide, understand or how I judge others if they lived according to the bible. We also believe in the baptism of desire, in which some may at the last moment of life, ask as the theif on the cross said, "remember me..."
@nobolistic how do you know he wasn't baptised? The early Christians wrote in the Nicene Creed (A.D. 381), "We believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sins." John 3:5 says "Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit." We believe you can also be baptised by "baptism of desire", that is, an explicit or even implicit desire for baptism.
@bradleesargent, Acts 16:4 didn't tell me anything about Rosary citation! Either the verses u gave me! Romans1:20 does not tell us Mary reveals God invisible qualities to us, so what's your point? A verse from the Bible to say Mary reveals Jesus to us will make me a Catholic right now!
3) The Lateran Council addressing Pope Julius II in an oration delivered by Marcellus said: "Take care that we lose not that salvation, that life and breath which thou hast given us, for thou art our shepherd, thou art our physician, thou art our governor, thou art our husbandman, thou art finally another God on earth." (Council Edition. Colm. Agrip. 1618)
@nobolistic We all know the Pope is not divine, not God, not the Holy Spirit. He is a man like you and I physically, he eats and he sleeps,...what else are you going to copy and paste from anti catholic web sites? you must think those anti catholic sites are "infallible".I understand why "they" make you so upset...
@stevesilvia, u can call me poorest little boy, it won't change anything. Jesus is God, no debate. Now if u believe salvation comes from Jesus, why do u need 7 sacrements? Why do u need Mary to be CO REDRIMTRIX? Why do u need venerating Mary? U Cathoics think Jesus did not do enough work so u implore the help of saints, priest n unbiblical doctrines to buy your way into heaven!
@stevesilvia, do you want me to stay on the subject? That's good! Where is your source of the rosary? Why don't you preach to people about Jesus? Why don't you tell people to surrender to Jesus instead of telling them the rosary can change their lives? Who changes life: Jesus or Rosary?
@nobolistic poor little one, you really can't stay one one subject, can you...the rosary is the life of Jesus in prayer. but lets go back to the subject we were talking about. We believe salvation comes from God, but do you believe Jesus is God? I await your answer to this question.
@stevesilvia, I appreciate you want to share your faith as a Christian but do you know a person can be sued for misquoting and giving you the source? For example read about Dignity of the priest. Y will someone misquote n give u page, chapter, date n everything for fun? I ask u, whom do u trust your salvation to? Jesus or Mary?
@nobolistic your question shows that you don't understand the Catholic Faith. The Catholic Church teaches, from the bible, "Salvation is from the LORD" (Jonah 2:9). (try to stay on the subject) . Again, as to the quote you copied from an anti catholic site, you should have investigated it better. Catholic is biblical....Why does that upset you?
@nobolistic Do you know the greek word παράδοσις, if not, go look it up in Matthew 15:2 and then in 1 Corinthians 11:2 and in 2 Thessalonians 2:15 and please tell me your understanding of the word.
@stevesilvia, how do you verify your source and how confident are you to attest it is legitimate? Are you here to defend the pope n men's traditions other than God's?
@stevesilvia Protestants are taught not to listen...Mary reveals Jesus to us as described in Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
@nobolistic to verify a source, never go to anti anything sources. Next, go to more than one source. You don't know me that is why you said what you said. How sad, that you attack Christians here. We are sharing our faith.

this is what he actually did say:" The Pope REPRESENTS Jesus Christ Himself, and therefore is a loving father. The life of the Pope is a holocaust of love for the human family. His word is love; love, his weapon; love, the answer he gives to all who hate him; love, his flag, that is, the Cross, which signed the greatest triumph on Earth and in Heaven."
In 1895 an article from the Catholic National said this: The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but he is Jesus Christ, Himself, hidden under the veil of flesh.
@rocky60191, if you reject and give your life to Jesus, you will be saved. As to committing my life to Mary, I will never. Catholics have way too many additions to the Bible and God says we should not add anything! Do u understand the meaning of not adding anything?
It also took me many, many, MANY years to attend Catholic Mass again.
My brother hosted mock Masses in which he used defecation for "hosts", as well as urine for "wine," and elevated the waste products as a real priest elevates real gifts of bread and wine at a real Catholic Mass.
He made me eat the defecation and drink the urine. I hate him so very much, and this is why there is a hell: for my brother, and he can rot.
I am not mad at Mary.........I am sure she is FURIOUS (as well as hates) at my brother for mocking one of her.........things.
I hate my brother with intense passion, and I vow never to use a rosary again. Not after what happened to me. I hate him so very much, and I hope he rots away in blazes for what he had inflicted on me.
I was hurt horribly - and my childhood was stolen from me. He can rot. Piece of shit. Cannot abide the monster.
When I was a child, my brother whipped me with rosaries. He would whip me until my skin was hot, pink, and raw. He also mocked the Catholic Mass, and made me eat defecation and drink urine.
To this day, I absolutely hate rosaries. I hate my brother, too.
He also gagged my mouth tight so I could not shout out in pain, yes. He also whipped me with rosaries repeatedly. Keep them away from me please.
Beautiful melody. I am not actually a Catholic but have been using the rosary every day for many months now. It has already banished (not suppressed) some of my darker proclivities. No conscious effort was needed there. I hope I can go further with this form of prayer.
The problem I have is the way you celebrate the mass. you re crucify Jesus every time. anyway, what about the Holy Father, Purgatory, Co-Redemtrix, Medaitrix, Rosary, Last rites and all your other practices? any Bible verse to support it?
@nobolistic The Mass is from the words of Jesus at the last supper....As commanded by Jesus, "Do this in memory of me..." The first Christians also worshiped at Mass as recorded in history and in the bible.
@nobolistic I have rejected sola scriptural (Bible alone) and justification by Faith of the Protestants because anything not in the Bible should be rejected. Martin Luther, John Calvin etc. are not in the Bible so I have rejected them. Anglican, Methodist Southern Baptist etc. are not in the Bible and I have rejected them. Protestantism is not in the Bible and I have rejected it too.
@nobolistic this is what he actually did say:" The Pope REPRESENTS Jesus Christ Himself, and therefore is a loving father. The life of the Pope is a holocaust of love for the human family. His word is love; love, his weapon; love, the answer he gives to all who hate him; love, his flag, that is, the Cross, which signed the greatest triumph on Earth and in Heaven." if you are going to present gossip, at least verify that it is the truth....
TRADITIONS UPON TRADITIONS! Rosary is not in the Bible so ignore it. Co- Redemtrix, Mediatrix is not in the Bible. Flee from idolatary, paganism stop making Mary a goddess with crescent moon!
None of u can give me a Bible verse. All you keep saying is catechism and tradition. Is Catechism better than the Bible? Y read mystical city of God when the Bible is there? All Catholics say are things written by men/ saints/ pope but can't defend with the Bible!
@bornagainsaint1. God created Mary to be without the original sin of Adam and Eve with plan for her to conceive Jesus. If you think Mary is no different from other women, you're so wrong!
@28804ecorrell. be careful who you pray to, the bible doesnt encourage you to pray to Mary. praying to anyone else other than to the heavenly Father in Jesus' name is idolatry.
@Bornaqainsaint1. Mary is God's special creation to bring His Word- becomes- flesh into the world. May God have mercy on you if you think Mary was just an ordinary woman. The woman crowned with 12 stars in Revelation is referring to Mary.
@Samaritanable. God will not hurt me in any way shape or form, bcuz He saved me when He went to the cross. I dont need to pray to Mary, Jesus is my Savior and my Intercessor, not Mary. He pours out His mercy on me everyday. The woman with 12 stars in Rev is not Mary, it is about the 12 tribes of Israel. Israel suffered much while waiting for the Savior to come and free them from their sins and the sins of the whole world. Mary was no different than us, read Matt 12:47-50; Luke 11:27-28.
@Bornaqainsaint1. RCC never said angel greeted Mary fifty times. Where did you hear it from? From your pastor? How many times must Catholics stress that they are not idolising Mary? (Sigh!) Pls do more research on Catholic faith to find or attend a Catholic mass on Sunday to find out the truth. Don't just listen to your pastor. Anyway, RCC has complete books in the Bible whereas Martin Luther extracted some books from it. Jesus warned us about deduction to His Word.
@VeraO1806. I was raised catholic. I dont need to pray to Mary, this is idolatry. i am no longer catholic, i am bornagainsaint. It is rediculous and useless to pray the same prayer 50 times over and over. Catholics do worship Mary everytime they pray in her name and call on her. A pastor didnt tell me about the false doctrines of the RCC, it was the Holy Spirit that opened up my eyes and heart. The truth is the RCC is saturated with idolatry.
@bornagainsaint1 and what do you think is too many? Can we pray the Lords prayer twice a day? or is that too many? Even in the bible the angels repeat over and over "Holy holy Holy,,," Your gossip is unbiblical, and yet you pass it off as biblical truth.... and each time I prove you wrong.... we are not required to pray asking Mary for prayers, and our main worship service is totally about and centered on Jesus.
@stevesilvia. Catholics pray to Mary in her name 50 times in the rosary, this is idolatry. praying to anyone else other than the heavenly Father in Jesus name is idolatry. The angels in the bible do not pray to Mary. You are required by your church to pray to Mary asking her to pray for you at the hour of your death and to take your prayers to the Lord; this is craziness!!! What would happen if all catholics stopped praying the rosary?
@bornagainsaint1 you didn't answer my question....another form of deception. Just answer the question, The rosary is the life of Jesus in prayer. Your first clue about your lying and deception, is that the Catholic Church never requires us to pray to Mary asking for her prayers. Don't you think that as a Christian, you should be telling the truth? The Catholic Church, was started and is centered with, and worships only Jesus.
@stevesilvia. I did answer your question. the angels dont pray to Mary they give glory to the Almighty. Praying to Mary is idolatry. the RCC encourages and requires catholics to pray to Mary asking her to take your prayers to the Lord and asking her to pray for you at the hour of your death. None of this concerning Mary's intercession is biblical. i was raised catholic, but no more. I go to the heavenly Father in Jesus name, I dont go to Mary. If all catholics stopped praying to Mary, what then?
@stevesilvia. read Col 3:32, give all unto the Lord and not unto men. 50 prayers to Mary spoken everyday by millions of catholics is really far fetched and is idolatry.
@stevesilvia. where in the bible does it say that praying to Mary is biblical, if anyone is lying it is your pope. the bible guides us into truth and Jesus said to ask in His name. the rosary is not about the life of Jesus, the bible is the final and true account of His life death and resurrection and His everlasting peaceful life that we live with Him. i dont want to nor do i need to pray to Mary or anyone else other than to the heavenly Father in Jesus name.
@stevesilvia. if catholics are not required to pray to Mary, then why do you pray to her? what would happen if all catholics stopped praying to her? the bible does not encourage pray to her, then why do you pray to her. who has been telling you to pray to her?
@bornagainsaint1 my question is, how many prayers are too many? And what about your lies? Explain that? Or is it ok for you to lie to everyone here?
@stevesilvia. your pope is the liar, he is telling all catholics that they must pray to Mary, bcuz she can bring you closer to the Lord. the Holy Spirit brings us closer to the Lord, the bible forbids praying to those who have passed on. my responses make you uncomfortable, i felt that way too when christians told me that there is only one name in which we are to pray in. the Holy Spirit brought me to the truth, i pray in His name i dont need to pray to Mary or pray in her name.
The Catholic Church, was started and is centered with, and worships only Jesus.
when the angel greeted Mary he didn't say Hail Mary fifty times, he greeted her once. the first part of the hail Mary is in the bible but the second part was added by the RCC. Jesus warned us about adding to His word. Jesus said that repetitive praying was in vain and useless. Praying to Mary is idolatry plain and simple.
@stevesilvia How in the world could you say the Rosary is the life of Jesus in prayer? I mean, how could you brazenly drag the name of the Son of the living God into your idolatory? Where did Jesus or any of His disciples say people should pray the rosary? The doctrine of Rome is obviously more important to you than the inherent word of the living God.
@jinu03. the rosary is man's way of thinking. I used to pray the rosary, but no more, I go to Jesus and Him only. i agree with you, I don't need the rosary, I don't need to pray to Mary. the rosary causes confusion and idolatry. first the rosary prays to the Father, then it turns away from Him and it prays to Mary, this is wrong.
@bornagainsaint1 Very True Amen brother. Im glad & i know its hard to leave those hardcore traditions made up by men ! Thank You for accepting the TRUTH ! God Bless You ! Shallom !
@stevesilvia. Since the rosary is suppose to be about the life of Jesus, then why are you praying to Mary? Don't you think there is something wrong here? I am born again, I don't babble.
@bornagainsaint1 the rosary is the recitation of the words of Scripture. The rosary is the life of Jesus in prayer, from His birth, to his passion on the cross, to His death, and resurrection. Each part of the life of Jesus comes from Scripture, and through the rosary, we ask Mary to pray for us. There is nothing wrong with praying Scripture. When was the last time you prayed Scripture?
@stevesilvia. The rosary has nothing to do with the life of Jesus. The bible is all about Jesus. No where in the bible does it record the rosary. When I pray it is to the heavenly Father in Jesus name, I dont need to pray to Mary. I am fulfilled in Jesus' name, and in Him only. He lifts me up and helps me to walk without fainting, I dont need to pray to Mary. He is my all, and nothing more. Mary does not fulfill my need for salvation. Jesus does, He prays for me always.
@bornagainsaint1 (1 Tim. 2:1-4), Paul instructs Christians to pray for each other, meaning it cannot interfere with Christ’s mediatorship: "I urge that prayers, supplications, petitions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone. . . . This is good, and pleasing to God our Savior."
@stevesilvia. Paul instructs Christians who are alive to pray for one another. You are using 1 Tim 2:1-4 to twist Paul's words trying to convince me that he is saying we should pray to others in their name whether they are alive or have passed on. Jesus prays for us, read John chp 17, and we pray in His name.
@bornagainsaint1 in the rosary, we ask to be prayed for, and we pray for others. As Scripture says, inspired by the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth refers to Mary as "the mother of my Lord": We too call upon "the mother of my Lord" to pray for us.
@stevesilvia. Elizabeth addressed Mary when Mary was alive, but Mary is dead, she has passed on. The bible says that we are not to call upon anyone who has passed on. You should know this since you claim to be a bible scholar or should I say a tradition scholar chasing after the pope. Jesus prays for us and when christians pray they pray in Jesus' name bcuz they know who He is, and they are fulfilled through His blood sacrifice.
Awesome song, Awesome Message, and AWESOME timing in my life! I recently erased my previous post because it was too long. lol. So, I think all I can say from the depths of my heart is thank you and God bless you in a special way for not just being Catholic but by sharing the faith. I follow your videos and I am always inspired. Oh yea, what is the song called?
Awesome song, Awesome Message, and AWESOME timing in my life! I recently erased my previous post because it was too long. lol. In conclusion, let us, as members of Christ’s one, true Church, fulfill the prophecy made by the Blessed Virgin Mary during her visit to St. Elizabeth — “Behold henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.”
The constant tradition of the Church of Christ from the earliest ages of Christianity has always upheld this prerogative of Mary. This is amply proven by the writings of the early Popes, early Councils of the Church, and early Fathers and Doctors of the Church.
There are no Scriptural references which refer to Mary, the Mother of Jesus, as having other children. Why did Jesus, when dying on the Cross, give the care of His Mother to His Apostle St. John? This would not have been necessary if there were brothers in the strict sense.
The Hebrew words ahh, which is the word for “the brethren,” is applicable not only to a brother in the strictest sense, but also to a nephew (see Genesis 14:16); a cousin (see Numbers 16:10); a husband (see Canticles 4:9; Esther 16:12); members of the same race (see Numbers 20:14); an ally (see Amos 1:9); and a friend (see Job 6:15).
Protestants also make reference to various passages in the Gospels which refer to “the brethren of the Lord,” and from this, they infer that Mary had other children. Once again they falsely interpret the Scriptures.
So when St. Matthew records, “He knew her not till she brought forth her first-born Son,” his principal aim was to tell his readers that Christ’s birth was miraculous and that St. Joseph had not part in the conception of Mary’s Child. As for the term, “first-born,” this was a legal term and did not imply that Mary had other children. The child is called first-born from the fact of its opening the womb and not to contra-distinguish it from subsequent issue.
Again in the Book of Psalms, God the Father said to His Divine Son: “Sit Thou at My Right Hand, until I make Thy enemies Thy footstool” (Ps. 109). Will the Messias, once His enemies are subdued, relinquish His place of honor? Of course not!
It is falsely argued on two points — “knew her not till” and “her first-born.” In Scriptural usage, until expresses what has occurred up to a certain point and leaves the future aside. Thus for example, God says in the book of Isaias, “I am till you grow old” (Is. 46:4). From this are we to infer that God would then cease to be? Of course not!
Note well that the virgin is the subject of the verbs conceive and bear.
As for after the birth of Jesus, Protestants reject that Mary remained a virgin by their false interpretation of Holy Scripture. To summarize briefly their arguments, they claim that in the Gospel of St. Matthew, we read: “He (St. Joseph) knew her not till she brought forth her first-born son” (Matthew 1:25).
@jimsjta. Matt 1:25 says "He knew her not till she brought forth her first-born son". It doesn't say "He knew her not till she brought forth her only son". He knew her not till - what happened after till? Matt 1:25 means Joseph and Mary had sex after Jesus was born. consummating their marriage wasn't disrespectful toward the Father nor the Holy Spirit. Joseph and Mary did what the Almighty commands in a marriage between man and woman.
Lastly, Catholics firmly believe that Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, was “ever Virgin.” That Mary was a virgin before and after the miraculous birth of Jesus can be demonstrated from the passage of the Prophet Isaias: “The Lord Himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and His Name shall be called Emmanuel.”
Our Divine Lord wanted to clearly indicate that His Mother was the Woman spoken of in the Book of Genesis: “I will put enmities between thee (Satan) and the Woman, between thy seed and her seed, and she shall crush thy head.”
In both accounts, Jesus addressed Mary by the term woman. In Hebrew the word used by Jesus was a term which would be addressed to a queen or a woman of high rank. It was a term of great respect.
But why did Jesus Christ address His Mother by the term woman at these two significant moments in His life — at His first public miracle, and at His Crucifixion on the Cross?
just as Eve cooperated with Adam in the Fall of mankind, the Blessed Virgin Mary cooperated with Jesus Christ in our redemption. She “stood by the Cross of Jesus.” What anguish, what sorrow did the Mother of Jesus experience at the foot of the Cross as she witnessed the sufferings and death of her Divine Son!
In the second account, also take from the Gospel of St. John, we read: “There stood by the Cross of Jesus His Mother... When Jesus therefore had seen His Mother and the disciple standing whom He loved, He saith to His Mother: ‘Woman, behold thy son...’” (John 19:25-27).
Jesus Christ then proceeded to work His first public miracle at His Mother’s request. Everything related in the Gospels is inspired by God, and there is a reason for it. Does not this narrative of the wedding feast manifest the intercessory power of Mary with Jesus Christ, her Divine Son?
The Gospel of St. John relates two significant accounts which relate to Mary — the wedding feast of Cana and the Crucifixion. Of the first account we read: . And the wine failing, the Mother of Jesus said to Him, ‘They have no wine.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, what is it to Me and to thee? My hour is not yet come.’ His Mother said to the waiters, ‘Whatsoever He shall say to you, do ye’” (John 2:1-5)
When he ceased his prayers, the Israelites began to lose. Because of this, it was necessary for two men to hold up Moses’ arms in prayer until the battle was won. Also, we read in the Old Testament how Josue prayed to God to have the day prolonged in order to win another crucial battle. If Moses and Josue could have such intercession before God, how much more powerful are the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary!
how much more powerful are the prayers and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary! In the Old Testament, we read how Moses prayed with arms outstretched and interceded with God to procure the victory of the Israelites over their enemies in a crucial battle. As long as he prayed, they were victorious.
@jimsjta. the reason why the Almighty honored Moses' prayers is bcuz Moses was praying to the Almighty. Praying to Mary or to anyone else is idolatry, and He does not honor that, even if you think He does.
Catholics do not, as Protestants falsely believe, worship the Blessed Virgin Mary. We honor her who was so intimately connected with Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity. Yes, there is only one Mediator with the Father — Jesus Christ. Only the God-Man Jesus Christ could have redeemed mankind. Nevertheless, we pray to Mary that she may intercede for us with her Divine Son. How often we request the assistance of prayers from our fellow men —
As Catholics, members of the one, true Church of Christ, we honor the Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. We call her the Mother of God, because she indeed is the Mother of the one Divine Person, Jesus Christ, Who has both the nature of God and the nature of Man. By this title of “Mother of God,” we simply refer to the Virgin Mary as St. Elizabeth did when “filled with the Holy Ghost she cried out... Whence is this to me that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?”
“My soul doth magnify the Lord... because He hath regarded the humility of His handmaid; for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For He that is mighty hath done great things to me.”
@jimsjta. Finish what Mary said "my soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior". even Mary needed a Savior. Just as we all do. and as for the pope he really needs to stop calling himself "most holy father".
“was filled with the Holy Ghost, and she cried out with a loud voice and said: ‘Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?’”
Who can deny the dignity of the Virgin Mary — chosen to be the Mother of Jesus Christ? The Angel Gabriel, who was sent by God Himself, honored and praised her.
Furthermore, when the Virgin Mary visited her cousin, St. Elizabeth
“Fear not, Mary, for thou has found grace with God. Behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His Name, Jesus... The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy One which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
In the Gospel of St. Luke, we read: “The Angel Gabriel was sent to a Virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the House of David; and the Virgin’s name was Mary” (Luke 1:27).
How did the Angel Gabriel then address her? The Gospel of St. Luke continues: “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women!”
In the Old Testament, Adam brought about the Fall of Mankind with the cooperation of Eve. In the New Testament, Jesus Christ, the God-Man, brought about our Redemption with the cooperation of the Virgin Mary. Eve, our first parent, was tempted by a fallen angel to disobey the command of God, and she subsequently led Adam into sin. In the New Testament, another angel, the Angel Gabriel, announced the will of God to the Virgin Mary and she, unlike Eve, humbly submitted.
Who is the “woman” in the text of Holy Scripture of whom Almighty God set enmities against Satan? Who is “her seed”? What is meant by the words “and she shall crush thy head”?
When Adam and Eve had fallen, Almighty God not only punished them and their progeny for this original sin, but He also promised to send a Redeemer. “And the Lord God said to the serpent... I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel” (Genesis 3:13-15).
In the Book of Genesis, we read how our first parents, Adam and Eve, fell into original sin. Satan, in the form of a serpent, first tempted Eve. When Eve had eaten of the forbidden fruit, she then offered it to Adam, who also partook. Adam, as Head of the Human Race, brought about the Fall of Mankind; it was, however, through the cooperation of Eve.
Let us begin our defense of the Catholic Church and its devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary by the consideration of the similarities between the Fall of Man and the Redemption of Man.
How important it is for Catholics to know Sacred Scripture and to respond to these attacks on the Mother of Jesus Christ, especially in these times, when there has been such a surge of non-Catholic sects who zealously proselytize their heretical teachings.
This honor and devotion to Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, is one of the many things rejected by Protestants. Protestants claim that the Catholic Church’s devotion to Mary is not based on Sacred Scripture, that it is an offense to Christ, that no one should pray to Mary because “there is only one Mediator with the Father,” that Mary did not always remain a virgin, etc.
Among the various characteristics which prove the Catholic Church to be the one, true Church of Christ (the fours marks of the Church — one, holy, catholic, apostolic), there is also a particular characteristic which is manifestly based on Holy Scripture and which is unique to Catholicism — the honor and devotion of the Catholic Church to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. There is not a single month in the year without several feasts in her honor.
Our prayers for the dead express hope that God will free the person who has died from any burden of sin and prepare a place for him or her in heaven. Death remains a mystery for us – a great unknown. Yet Christian language evokes a hopeful imagination in the presence of death, an assurance that our love, linked to Christ’s love, can help bridge whatever barriers might keep those whom we love from fully enjoying the presence of a loving and life-giving God.
Praying for the dead has further origins in our belief in the communion of saints. Members of this community who are living, often assist each other in faith by prayers and other forms of spiritual support. Christians who have died continue to be members of the communion of saints. We believe that we can assist them by our prayers, and they can assist us by theirs.
The practice of praying for the dead is rooted first in the Christian belief in the everlasting life promised in Jesus’ teachings and fore-shadowed by his disciple’s experience that God had raised him from the dead. After death, even though separated from our earthly body, we yet continue a personal existence. It is as living persons that God invites us into a relationship whose life transcends death.
The cavelike tombs under the city of Rome, which we call catacombs, bear evidence that members of the Roman Christian community gathered there to pray for their fellow followers of Christ who lay buried there.
This is the first indication in the Bible that prayers offered by the living can help free the dead from any sin that would separate them from God in the life to come. It is echoed in the New Testament when Paul offers a prayer for a man named Onesiphorus who had died: “May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day” (2 Timothy 1:18).
The earliest Scriptural reference to prayers for the dead comes in the second book of Maccabees, the Jewish leader, led his troops into battle in 163 BC. When the battle ended, he directed that the bodies of those Jews who had died be buried, they discovered that each was wearing an amulet taken as a booty from a pagan Temple. This violated the law of Deuteronomy and so Judas and his soldiers prayed that God would forgive the sin these men had committed (2 Maccabees 12:39-45).
@jimsjta. 2 Macc 12:39-45 is based on idolatry, and the RCC teaches that this sin can never be forgiven, whether you pray for that person or not. this same chp doesnt follow up on whether or not those prayers really worked, it doesnt really mention if the Almighty honored those prayers and the sacrifice that was offered. Jesus' blood sacrifice saves all sin, believe in Him and you are saved.
It's sad. Even the majority of Protestant Reformers agreed on the perpetual virginity of the Blessed Mother. The Early Church Fathers even proved this in their writings.
And it came to pass, as HE spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice & said unto Him "Blessed" is the WOMB that BARE THEE & the Paps which THOU hast Sucked. But He Said "Yea rather, BLESSED are THEY that Hear the Word of GOD and KEEP IT"!
@1978dagreat. I agree Jesus did rebuke Mary worship!! He made it clear that she along with everyone else are sinners in need of a savior. the RCC is not comfortable with Matt 1:25, and also with the passage you quoted.
@Mcspace100 Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus Tecum; benedicta Tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris Tui, Jesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
@Mcspace100 Mary is the Theotokos: the God Bearer. She bore Our Lord into this world for our salvation. She was assumed into heaven at the end of our life and she reigns as Queen of Heaven.
Stop quoting Scripture and twisting it to fit your errors.
Oh wait: you're Protestant. You guys have been doing this for 500 years.
We Catholics have been around since A.D. 33, when Our Lord founded His church upon St. Peter.
Please pray on the special beads of the Rosary of the Unborn, given by Our Lady with a promise to save one life from death by abortion for each Hail Mary said with love on these beads. Please watch a short video-presentation on my channel, with the web address where you can get them from. Blessings of the United Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
The road to hell is paved with "good intentions" and heretics always have the most elaborate justifications.
Every group is tainted with heretics and blasphemous heresy but the Cult of the Queen of Heaven could be said to have the most in total. It is a testament as to how insane the mind of man is to so easily be able to so deeply deceive his own self away from the Bible and into such levels of heresy which are so beyond comprehensible it is unreal. The average person is truly a slave mind.
Thank you for your answer, but Christians also worship the same God, and I asked one of the Muslims and said that Muslims and Christians worship the same God, but they are different to them that the Prophet Muhammad and also said they believe in the existence of Christ and believe in thethe existence of of Mary , why are the Muslims ?
@latoOof100 Muslims worship God the Father which is the first divine person in the trinity. their book is written on false teachings but they worship the same God as Jews do not Christians because they do not accept the Trinity and they do not accept Jesus in that way .

@stevesilvia, so you mean to tell me when you die, you are not sure if you will go to heaven or not? What do you understand in John 3:16?
nobolistic 2 months ago
@stevesilvia, I ask you this. If I have never been baptised and about to die and surrender my life to Jesus, will I still go to hell because I missed BAPTISM?
nobolistic 2 months ago
@nobolistic like I said before, salvation belongs to God alone, who is the only one who knows our hearts.... It's not up to what I think, decide, understand or how I judge others if they lived according to the bible. We also believe in the baptism of desire, in which some may at the last moment of life, ask as the theif on the cross said, "remember me..."
stevesilvia 2 months ago
@stevesilvia, the thief at the right hand side of Jesus DID NOT need baptism but was SAVED. I hope it answers your question!
nobolistic 2 months ago
@nobolistic how do you know he wasn't baptised? The early Christians wrote in the Nicene Creed (A.D. 381), "We believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sins." John 3:5 says "Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit." We believe you can also be baptised by "baptism of desire", that is, an explicit or even implicit desire for baptism.

Colm. Agrip. 1618)

nobolistic 2 months ago
@nobolistic poor little one, you really can't stay one one subject, can you...the rosary is the life of Jesus in prayer. but lets go back to the subject we were talking about. We believe salvation comes from God, but do you believe Jesus is God? I await your answer to this question.

@stevesilvia, I appreciate you want to share your faith as a Christian but do you know a person can be sued for misquoting and giving you the source? For example read about Dignity of the priest. Y will someone misquote n give u page, chapter, date n everything for fun? I ask u, whom do u trust your salvation to? Jesus or Mary?
nobolistic 2 months ago
@nobolistic your question shows that you don't understand the Catholic Faith. The Catholic Church teaches, from the bible, "Salvation is from the LORD" (Jonah 2:9). (try to stay on the subject) . Again, as to the quote you copied from an anti catholic site, you should have investigated it better. Catholic is biblical....Why does that upset you?

It also took me many, many, MANY years to attend Catholic Mass again.
My brother hosted mock Masses in which he used defecation for "hosts", as well as urine for "wine," and elevated the waste products as a real priest elevates real gifts of bread and wine at a real Catholic Mass.
He made me eat the defecation and drink the urine. I hate him so very much, and this is why there is a hell: for my brother, and he can rot.
LAPSEDCATHOLIC1 2 months ago
I am not mad at Mary.........I am sure she is FURIOUS (as well as hates) at my brother for mocking one of her.........things.
I hate my brother with intense passion, and I vow never to use a rosary again. Not after what happened to me. I hate him so very much, and I hope he rots away in blazes for what he had inflicted on me.
I was hurt horribly - and my childhood was stolen from me. He can rot. Piece of shit. Cannot abide the monster.
LAPSEDCATHOLIC1 2 months ago
Oh, yes. I went through major childhood molestation: my brother stole my childhood from me.
I had no childhood. He was sneaky, and he never got caught - until I gathered up the courage, and said: "the hell with you, Joey. I'm gonna tell."
So, the abuse ended.......and I am healing.
But it will take my whole life to heal from this. And rosaries make me sick. I suffer from Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder,P.T.S.D. for short.
I am not mad at Mary - I'm mad at my brother. I hate him
LAPSEDCATHOLIC1 2 months ago
I cannot, and will not pray on a beaded rosary.

VeraO1806 4 months ago

@stevesilvia. Catholics pray to Mary in her name 50 times in the rosary, this is idolatry. praying to anyone else other than the heavenly Father in Jesus name is idolatry. The angels in the bible do not pray to Mary. @stevesilvia. Since the rosary is suppose to be about the life of Jesus, then why are you praying to Mary? Don't you think there is something wrong here? I am born again, I don't babble.
bornagainsaint1 4 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 the rosary is the recitation of the words of Scripture. The rosary is the life of Jesus in prayer, from His birth, to his passion on the cross, to His death, and resurrection. Each part of the life of Jesus comes from Scripture, and through the rosary, we ask Mary to pray for us. There is nothing wrong with praying Scripture. When was the last time you prayed Scripture?
stevesilvia 4 months ago
@stevesilvia. The rosary has nothing to do with the life of Jesus. The bible is all about Jesus. No where in the bible does it record the rosary. When I pray it is to the heavenly Father in Jesus name, I dont need to pray to Mary. I am fulfilled in Jesus' name, and in Him only. He lifts me up and helps me to walk without fainting, I dont need to pray to Mary. He is my all, and nothing more. Mary does not fulfill my need for salvation. Jesus does, He prays for me always.
bornagainsaint1 4 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 (1 Tim. 2:1-4), Paul instructs Christians to pray for each other, meaning it cannot interfere with Christ’s mediatorship: "I urge that prayers, supplications, petitions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone. . . . This is good, and pleasing to God our Savior."
stevesilvia 4 months ago
@stevesilvia. Paul instructs Christians who are alive to pray for one another. You are using 1 Tim 2:1-4 to twist Paul's words trying to convince me that he is saying we should pray to others in their name whether they are alive or have passed on. Jesus prays for us, read John chp 17, and we pray in His name.
bornagainsaint1 4 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 in the rosary, we ask to be prayed for, and we pray for others. As Scripture says, inspired by the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth refers to Mary as "the mother of my Lord": We too call upon "the mother of my Lord" to pray for us.
stevesilvia 4 months ago
@stevesilvia.

This is amply proven by the writings of the early Popes, early Councils of the Church, and early Fathers and Doctors of the Church.
jimsjta 6 months ago
There are no Scriptural references which refer to Mary, the Mother of Jesus, as having other children. Why did Jesus, when dying on the Cross, give the care of His Mother to His Apostle St. John? This would not have been necessary if there were brothers in the strict sense.

The Hebrew words ahh, which is the word for “the brethren,” is applicable not only to a brother in the strictest sense, but also to a nephew (see Genesis 14:16); a cousin (see Numbers 16:10); a husband (see Canticles 4:9; Esther 16:12); members of the same race (see Numbers 20:14); an ally (see Amos 1:9); and a friend (see Job 6:15).
jimsjta 6 months ago
Protestants also make reference to various passages in the Gospels which refer to “the brethren of the Lord,” and from this, they infer that Mary had other children. Once again they falsely interpret the Scriptures.
jimsjta 6 months ago

Of course not!
jimsjta 6 months ago

Joseph) knew her not till she brought forth her first-born son” (Matthew 1:25).
jimsjta 6 months ago

Our Divine Lord wanted to clearly indicate that His Mother was the Woman spoken of in the Book of Genesis: “I will put enmities between thee (Satan) and the Woman, between thy seed and her seed, and she shall crush thy head.”
jimsjta 6 months ago
In both accounts, Jesus addressed Mary by the term woman. In Hebrew the word used by Jesus was a term which would be addressed to a queen or a woman of high rank. It was a term of great respect.
But why did Jesus Christ address His Mother by the term woman at these two significant moments in His life — at His first public miracle, and at His Crucifixion on the Cross?
jimsjta 6 months ago
just as Eve cooperated with Adam in the Fall of mankind, the Blessed Virgin Mary cooperated with Jesus Christ in our redemption. She “stood by the Cross of Jesus.” What anguish, what sorrow did the Mother of Jesus experience at the foot of the Cross as she witnessed the sufferings and death of her Divine Son!
jimsjta 6 months ago
In the second account, also take from the Gospel of St. John, we read: “There stood by the Cross of Jesus His Mother... When Jesus therefore had seen His Mother and the disciple standing whom He loved, He saith to His Mother: ‘Woman, behold thy son...’” (John 19:25-27).

Jesus Christ then proceeded to work His first public miracle at His Mother’s request. Everything related in the Gospels is inspired by God, and there is a reason for it. Does not this narrative of the wedding feast manifest the intercessory power of Mary with Jesus Christ, her Divine Son?
jimsjta 6 months ago

As long as he prayed, they were victorious.
jimsjta 6 months ago
@jimsjta. the reason why the Almighty honored Moses' prayers is bcuz Moses was praying to the Almighty.

How often we request the assistance of prayers from our fellow men —
jimsjta 6 months ago
As Catholics, members of the one, true Church of Christ, we honor the Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. We call her the Mother of God, because she indeed is the Mother of the one Divine Person, Jesus Christ, Who has both the nature of God and the nature of Man. By this title of “Mother of God,” we simply refer to the Virgin Mary as St. Elizabeth did when “filled with the Holy Ghost she cried out... Whence is this to me that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?”
jimsjta 6 months ago
“My soul doth magnify the Lord... because He hath regarded the humility of His handmaid; for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For He that is mighty hath done great things to me.”
jimsjta 6 months ago
@jimsjta. Finish what Mary said "my soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior". even Mary needed a Savior. Just as we all do. and as for the pope he really needs to stop calling himself "most holy father".

Once again, honor and praise is rendered to the Virgin Mary by St. Elizabeth, “who was filled with the Holy Ghost”
Then during this same visitation, the Virgin Mary responded to her cousin’s praise of her by the prayer so full of humility and of praise to God:

@jimsjta. Mary did not crush satan's head, JESUS DID.

When Adam and Eve had fallen, Almighty God not only punished them and their progeny for this original sin, but He also promised to send a Redeemer. “And the Lord God said to the serpent... I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel” (Genesis 3:13-15).
jimsjta 6 months ago
In the Book of Genesis, we read how our first parents, Adam and Eve, fell into original sin. Satan, in the form of a serpent, first tempted Eve. When Eve had eaten of the forbidden fruit, she then offered it to Adam, who also partook. Adam, as Head of the Human Race, brought about the Fall of Mankind; it was, however, through the cooperation of Eve.

Let us begin our defense of the Catholic Church and its devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary by the consideration of the similarities between the Fall of Man and the Redemption of Man.
jimsjta 6 months ago
How important it is for Catholics to know Sacred Scripture and to respond to these attacks on the Mother of Jesus Christ, especially in these times, when there has been such a surge of non-Catholic sects who zealously proselytize their heretical teachings.
jimsjta 6 months ago
This honor and devotion to Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, is one of the many things rejected by Protestants. Protestants claim that the Catholic Church’s devotion to Mary is not based on Sacred Scripture, that it is an offense to Christ, that no one should pray to Mary because “there is only one Mediator with the Father,” that Mary did not always remain a virgin, etc.
jimsjta 6 months ago

Yet Christian language evokes a hopeful imagination in the presence of death, an assurance that our love, linked to Christ’s love, can help bridge whatever barriers might keep those whom we love from fully enjoying the presence of a loving and life-giving God.
jimsjta 6 months ago
Praying for the dead has further origins in our belief in the communion of saints. Members of this community who are living, often assist each other in faith by prayers and other forms of spiritual support. Christians who have died continue to be members of the communion of saints. We believe that we can assist them by our prayers, and they can assist us by theirs.
jimsjta 6 months ago
The practice of praying for the dead is rooted first in the Christian belief in the everlasting life promised in Jesus’ teachings and fore-shadowed by his disciple’s experience that God had raised him from the dead. After death, even though separated from our earthly body, we yet continue a personal existence. It is as living persons that God invites us into a relationship whose life transcends death.
jimsjta 6 months ago
The cavelike tombs under the city of Rome, which we call catacombs, bear evidence that members of the Roman Christian community gathered there to pray for their fellow followers of Christ who lay buried there.
jimsjta 6 months ago
This is the first indication in the Bible that prayers offered by the living can help free the dead from any sin that would separate them from God in the life to come. It is echoed in the New Testament when Paul offers a prayer for a man named Onesiphorus who had died: “May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord on that day” (2 Timothy 1:18).
jimsjta 6 months ago
The earliest Scriptural reference to prayers for the dead comes in the second book of Maccabees, the Jewish leader, led his troops into battle in 163 BC. When the battle ended, he directed that the bodies of those Jews who had died be buried, they discovered that each was wearing an amulet taken as a booty from a pagan Temple. This violated the law of Deuteronomy and so Judas and his soldiers prayed that God would forgive the sin these men had committed (2 Maccabees 12:39-45).
jimsjta 6 months ago

JESUS rebukes mary worship

And it came to pass, as HE spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice & said unto Him "Blessed" is the WOMB that BARE THEE & the Paps which THOU hast Sucked. But He Said "Yea rather, BLESSED are THEY that Hear the Word of GOD and KEEP IT"!

Peter.
