  • Last year I did 14 x 2,5m mural. Acrylics. Took me quite some time.

  • I loved your painting, I love the chaos and I bet if i was standing right in front of your painting I would feel the rush and chaos you often see in marketplaces. I dont know if it was your purpose but I can really see the desperateness in the people and the need for their "daily bread" I tried to message you but I couldnt find the message button on your page. Send me a message I would like to know more about your paintings and also ask some questions.

  • Do you ever get the feeling that some people just like to complain about other people's work? This is amazing. So much emotion in the faces of people, and the detail.....WOW! You're a great artist. Keep up the good work, and ignore the negative responses.

  • @VeriCheriLee Thank you for the comment and proving to me that not all people on youtube like to complain, argue, and be jerks. :) Thanks for the comments on my work. I do have another painting i'm close to finishing that I'm going to put on youtube. I hope you will check it out when its complete.

  • strange that I ended up at this page, but really this is a good piece. I don't see the problem. Focal points are not always created with xy position on the canvas. I prefer more vibrant colors in a painting, but that would not cause me to speak against this. Too often ppl have a personal preference that makes them biased, and then they create some reasoning that follows the "rules of criticism" to justifiably say they don't like the artwork. Contrived criticism... ironic

  • i wish i had as much patience as you have. i always give so much props for people who make murals and street art because they can't take it home with them at the end of the day...that is something i deeply respect. and fuck anyone who disliked this, they're probably ignorant retards anyway

  • @nihilistichotmagic Thank you

  • I like it, vey nice, even if i'd like more landscapes than work like these :D

  • This is piece conveyed so much emotion! I don't understand how or why someone would comment negatively about the time it took an artist to create a piece. Especially one as detailed as yours. Working with oil is an exercise in patience in itself. The drying time between colors can be lengthy. I do not have that patience and have created works that end up looking like mud pies. That is the reason I prefer acrylic. However, I REALLY enjoy viewing oil and appreciate the time it can take. Yours i

  • @Carehood1 Thank you, I'm sure you will love the next painting im putting on youtube. I have been working on it for a while and its almost two times larger then this one, but it's done in a different style. Much more personal for me. This painting in the video was actually just practice for the painting i'm finishing right now. :)

  • Interesting piece... lots of movement. However, I agree it feels a little unfinished and chaotic. There seems to be a lack of emphasis or focal point. Also, 5 months on one painting is much to long to be working. I talk with artists that create one large oil every 10 days, which is what I do.

  • @Putablutarus looking back i can see things i would add to it. but chaotic is what I was going for with it. I disagree with you on the 5 months part. If you go with the main stream way of doing things then yeah 5 months on one piece is too long, but the cool thing about art is its theory and there is no wrong answer. how long on a piece an artist works is just personal preference. i know artist who spend years working on one piece or look at the old masters who spent years working on one piece.

  • @Putablutarus also for an artist to work as large as i am and only work for 10 days on it they must scale up or do little detail. My style is doing the small details and I do not scale up as much. sure I could scale up or simplify everything but to get noticed in the art world you have to do something to stand out. I go against whats popular and spend a large amount of time on my pieces in that sense I try to create masterpieces. it works for me because I win a lot of money with my pieces.

  • @Putablutarus also lol, the focal point is all the emotional faces in the piece. All the faces in the center create a elliptical eye movement and the bread on the bottom moves the eye up through the piece with a curved movement. Also there are many implied shapes created from arms, faces and bread, all which move the eye around the piece. I figured this to obvious, but its all good. happy to explain.

  • Very nice work!

  • I would have to say good job on the size. But if feels oddly unfinished to me. To each there own I suppose.

  • O.O "speechless"

  • Watching this while eating my supper makes me think we, those who have enough food, drinking water, medical care, are very priviledged on the earth. Just want to say let`s be thankful for what we got. Makes me think of people who are not that lucky. Great picture - one can see the despair in the facial expression. I know the music from a movie i've seen - but I don`t remember which.

  • wow really nice painting...

  • Friggin art. Wow.

  • Wonderful!! Thank you for sharing.

  • I think your painting is amazing. I disagree with some of the negative comments especially about the composition. I think it's a very powerful composition and puts the viewer right in the action. I can feel the subject's despair and frustration. You can feel those people reaching out to you for help. Great job!

  • did you paint it based on picture?

  • music = creepy O_o

    painting = 5stars :)

  • i aman artist and i can see you are talented i love your picture and i hope that oneday i will paint like that would love to seemore of your work fab fab fab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @AppleBee424 thank you. (^_^)

  • shrimp

  • the music freaks me out n gives me nightmares

  • @MrKezzabean to each his own.

  • nice job but i suggest do i little better job with the shading to give it that nice realistic feeling

  • Excellent Paininting...thank you for sharing I love it !!!

  • good effort young fella....now you've got to start thinking like a real artist, that is, 'originality'

skillful rendering is the best basis to take the next step into your art development...next step is to 'create' an original image from a normal image.

    all the best !

  • It's amazing !

    <3 it

  • Well painted but the composition could have been better. As it is now it feels too centered and you feel like you are seeing the event from a narrow lens. I'm torn on the palette they look a bit too electric as well, this gives it a cartoonish feel. If they were a notch darker it would look a lot more dramatic, which I feel like you were going after by the expressions I see. Keep working you will get better with every painting you do.

  • i dont mean to post a clever comment but why are there 13 dislikes?... This is a beautiful piece; well done. -jak1anorue

  • You're great! Great disciplin! And a lot of talent. Did you use a photo?

  • That painting was really amazing and in the future you should make more videos about you work because I would love to watch them

  • The facial expressions, body positions and hand gestures suggest desperation and disorder. I think your composition is very nice. It is an exciting painting.

  • Excellent! You are very gifted! I would love to see more of your art work.

  • @bajnd05 thank you! i'm working on a few different paintings right now. usually they all end up getting done around the same time. so in a little while i should be posting a few new videos. thank you for the comment!

  • @bajnd05 thank you! i'm working on a few different paintings right now. usually they all end up getting done around the same time. so in a little while i should be posting a few new videos. thank you for the comment!

  • @N8wood1 Why so long to finish?

  • @Seektruth1st oil painting process takes very much longer than a simple sketch...painting the main base lines, setting up proportions.. then u have drying time and u need to go back and repeat layers and more and more detail as u go along so u have many sets of drying times making it take very much longer than one would expect...especially seeing as its done fully on a very large 4 foot x 8 foot canvas

  • @ghdude22 Interesting though. I see many fine works and demonstrations being performed regularly and none of them take more than what would be a few hours before being sped up to make viewing an easier way to view.

Some works are as visually pleasing as this or any other work considered to be 'fine art'.

Some artists take 2 yrs per painting. The end result is nothing more spectacular that some 3 day jobs.

But yes, art critics shipping champers in the gallery marvel at lengthy creation times.

  • @Seektruth1st yes most works of fine art have been done from reference..which means they would take a lot less time to finish becuz u dot have to go thru multiple layers when u know exactly where ur shading and stuff like that...and for those that r done from memory or thought that take a short time the person has had much practice and planned out what they were creating before hand such as a rough of such...others like to take their time and insure everything is n perfect proportion

  • @ghdude22 Thats fair enough...I paint a little bit myself and can see how it would take such a long time to finish one picture, especially when you let it sit in between a busy schedule. I have just seen a few great results in a matter of hours.

Check out that savant or child prodigy Akiane kramarik. She does start to finish in the same sitting turns out looking quite impressive. The same sorts of works have also been achieved in months.

  • @Seektruth1st ill be sure to check that out...but the main thing i think tat made it take so long was that the artist was working on a VERY LARGE canvas

  • im extremely impressed, its obvious that you have alot of talent. Id jut like to know, is this drawn from a picture or did you create the scene yourself?

and i dont mean to sound like im criticising you, but the video would be better if you took photos more frequently, so we could see it coming together gradually, not in stages

  • @rockonuslagz yes, i understand it would have been better if i took photos more frequently. but for me its hard to do that because when i get in the "zone" i cant really stop. then time flys and if i do stop and take a photo every hour then it throws me off a little bit. although i am working on taking photos more often. i have a few paintings in the works. so they will all probably be done at the same time. a few months till i post more videos. but thank you for the comment! come back in awhile

  • very nice painting

  • wow, this is amazing. I love it

  • Looks like you learned a lot painting this. For being oil, it has a very acrylic feel.

  • @N8wood1 I undersand, I'm not interested, but my father saw it and was impressed. 25K, Maybe ;)

  • @bomann88 well how much is he thinking?

  • Hey! Nice painting! Are you thinking about to sell it? In that case, how much? :)

  • @bomann88 a lot. lol. i mean i doubt most people would pay over 25 grand for this piece. not because its not worth it, just because it might be out of most peoples price range.

  • Very impressive,.I'm used to watching painters create a work in half an hour. This is what I call real art.

  • i REALLY like it. i love your style. great craftsmanship. i always have trouble working on a piece for over a long time so good job on following through and finishing the entire thing. this is just a personal thing, but i always stay away from the major topics such as wars and world hunger. i love this one but i would like to see the next one be more "you". like having a theme through most of your pieces. just an idea dont take it too seriously do what you like :)

  • @MexicanKukyMonster thank you. and i understand what your saying. but you will be happy to know that i have been working on an even larger piece that is about myself. been working on for a few months now. when its done i will ba making a video about it. but the video will be much better then this one. i thought it was funny that you said that because thats what i have been doing. (^_^) but thanks for the comment. come back in a while and check out my next video!

  • wonderful work. I'm not a painter, only a sketch artist too bad my father stifled my other abilities in the other arts.

  • Awesome painting. :) Are the rest of your works based around the same themes as this one?

  • @1MoreL1E most my pieces have different themes. but there are a few that are similar to this theme.

  • Wow great work fanastic, really!! Although the music was a little hmmm....holy and sady and the nut crackerish...if u know what i mean lol. But really good work, it was worth the 5 months of work, the faces are fantasic! And grats on the show, looks really nice in the room =))

  • @voodoocharm96 thank you.

  • Great painting... as a student i wouldent be able to constantly afford the paints...

I think i might invest into buying a Graphics tablet.

  • Wow! really nice!

  • hi i liked the painting it gets your atention is very realistic and beutifull i don't know anything about painting but it haves a smoth (?) texture i really liked.

  • Your human facial expressions are so moving Nathan!

Excellent work ...what is the title of the music? It complements your theme perfectly. Thanks !

  • Incredible keep up the good work.

  • well no wonder that took 5 months:D that would take me 50 years

  • Wow nice. who can dislike that?

  • @N8wood1 he means like take a picture every few minutes of work and then run them at like 15- 25 fps or something

  • Awesome

  • Nice.

  • It's wonderful I canvdraw very good to just in anime form I do alot of drawings just never put them on YouTube so I'll do on soon and I'll let you know :)

  • nice job! I could never paint anything that good!

  • This is really good

  • Looks nice, I like your choice of colors in particular. Keep painting!

My friend and neighbor is a painter as well. You might like some of his work. You can view it at facebook.com/Mario.Lorentz.Art if you're interested. : )

  • IMPRESSIVE, you must be really passionate about painting, otherwise you wouldn't have had cared about those details, and I liked the tittle too, It kinda sounds like a good tittle for a song, but I guess it fits more perfectly on a painting, Can you make a drawing out of anything? or the idea just pops out in your head? how does it work for you?

  • wow, it turned out really nice, great job!

  • Brilliant.

  • wow nice job.

    (thumbs up)

  • Nice work!

  • nice work! it's not easy to paint large...keep up the good work!

  • lol at first i was like wow what a troll but this is pretty good man keep it up!

  • Awesome work, and the size of it really makes it stick out, especially in the show.

  • omg you are very talented!!

  • man, some say im good at painting but seeing your work.... u really have it. plus, u sure do have patience.. and as we say in greek "the good thing delays"

  • Wow! That is quite impressive! Congratulations!

  • WOW....

  • great job!

  • thats amazing

  • You wanted feedback, here it is: Good choice of music. A very nice painting (liked it). About the video, shorten the intro text (or put the text next to the painting). Use a camera stand to get all the pictures from the same angle. Or use photoshop (and layers) to move them around so they will end up on the same spot. Other then that, it's a nice video. Good work! The painting is very good.

  • @datott thanks for the feedback! i will remember these thing for the next video i put up. wait till you see what I'm doing next. it will blow this one away.

  • Too much talent to be wasting your time on youtube! But goodluck you have some great talent. Def. should hit up an art place where you can display your work and have people who are really into this stuff have a look.

  • well done on this feat

  • simply beautiful! you're a very talented artist

  • ZOMFG

  • Really interesting! Great idea, too. Btw, what is the name of the music?

  • That is amazing! You are very talented! Btw, here from Alejandro Preview Vid :D

    x

  • Wow... Amazing!!

Did it seriously only take 5 months? It would take me about 5 YEARS to even get to the first pic!

  • @TalentSky99 thank you. yes, 5 months. i worked a whole lot to finish it within the time i had. I'm talking 10 hour days during the last month. before that i would work 6 hour days 4 days a week. along with it i finished 2 other paintings also.

  • wow you are extreemly tallented i enjoy a bit of drawing and painting but nothing as technical or detailed as this as im no where near this standard wish i was tho lol

  • wow nathan that is beautiful. it's so powerful and very touching. it turned out perfect.. i love it! not 5,10 stars for u my friend! i would love to see more of your paintings :)

  • @jmnhotgirl thank you.

  • amazing !!

  • Who ever gave you four thumbs down, need their asses handed to them. Epic Skillz Two Thumbs Up and a Fav!

  • very nice

  • good job, how much are you willing to sell it for? seriously

  • @buzwazfuz hah well I'm not really sure. a lot probably. someone at the show was talking 25 to 50 thousand. But i do have many more smaller pieces which would cost much less.

  • this is amazing! i'm so jealous lol. it looks almost like a photograph then a painting which in my book is awesome. keep up the good work

  • @SpencerSama thank you

  • @RANIKN thank you!

  • Beautiful. Great detail. You're very talented.

  • Beautiful beautiful creation. What an epic fine crescendo with the music to back it up!!! nice work!!

  • Hi, I too was working on an oil painting about as large as this one but it has much less detail. I've been working on it since I was 16 and now I'm 19 and still didn't finish it. Oil is the most difficult medium for me and I have absolutely no talent for it so I switched to water color. the point is, YOU ARE AMAZING !!!

  • @Alalalalala11 thank you. i agree. i work with many mediums and oil is the most difficult medium. but ever since i first started painting (about 5 years ago) i was hooked. to say i work a lot would be a huge understatement.

  • i like it a lot its very good

  • this thing SUCKS so bad. but dont get confused that is new street slang for something that is so sick that is sucks you in!

  • @crazyskater1614 i havnt heard that one before. i heard some people call it "SICK" though. thank you.

  • Very nice painting dude. Good luck with future projects and painting

  • Saw the comment on tiffanys video about bronzer!!! Nice job

  • i saw your comment on the "break-up WIN" video...and this painting sucks!!!! Just joking! :D but i really hate when people promote their own videos by spamming comments on other videos! (nice painting anyway) have a nice day!

  • @FastWar all i'm trying to do is get feedback. and if you call it "spaming" or whatever then thats what I'm doing and i don't think there is anything wrong with it. i think it's dumb that people would have a problem with it. why not support what other people are doing? but thanks for the comment anyway.

  • i saw your comment via "The guild season 3 episode 11" it was spam which i totally disagree with now that i see this.

  • @mlgrd hah i agree. thanks for the comment.
