Gumersenda1972 (Adela)
Such a complex piece of music, the amount of emotion from both violin and musician is intense. love to watch his great pleasure as he makes the violin's spirit come alive again n again.
@strgaltdel Some day, when you grow up, IF you grow up, you'll be walking down the street and a train will hit you. THAT'S how angry Karma is at you for being so mean on David Garrett's video. It will bring a train OFF the tracks just for you!!! You should get help for your anger and immaturity.
There are not enough congratulatory adjectives to describe Garrett's talent. He is surely one of the world's best. Shows you what can happen when you start playing the violin at age four, and keep it up every day.
Today is my first time hearing David play, and I am completely blown away. He is AMAZING! One of the greats of this generation as well as those proceeding him!
Yes, I guess this version is the 'better' one compared with the one Rose put out...it is slower and more intense, but I can enjoy both...as long as David is playing it!!!
I've finally figured it out. Whereas with most musicians I have seen (even the most fabulous ones!), I think to myself, "Wow, look at how well they play that instrument. They really bring it to life!" With David, it seems less like he is simply playing the violin and more like he is merely using it as a medium- the music is coming directly from him; the instrument is nearly irrelevant. Too beautiful!
- Well done ! Sarah Chang also hat quite something, but I believe he plays clearer, even though the medium sound quality of the video does not allow a good comparison. - Only BTW - was it allowed to film at that occasion anyway ?

its not a violinist. its money machine. He cannot play the easiest works in tune an with sound and musical feeling. Good luck that we will not here from this guy in the next time any more.
It has been a very long time since I last heard this musical piece. His rendition is just too beautiful. So expressive of the emotions one feels while listening to this kind of musical piece.
I disagree that he's better at playing "crossover" music. Comparing 2 great violinists is quite hard to do, particularly, when one's a man and one's a woman. Their interpretation WILL BE quite different, I'm sure. But to see David's technical proficiency with the emotion he brings to the piece is quite heart rendering. He is charismatic, not only for his handsome looks, but for the vulnerability whicht he exudes. This is a rare quality in a man and this is the main reason I disagree.
He's the only young violinist today who plays like the greats of fifty years ago. He has that sound, he has that big line and the agogic. Although they are completely different, somehow he reminds me of Michael Rabin (in live concerts) it's somehow the same charisma. Not even to mention the staggering technical facility.
@assindiastignani I'm not going to try and convince you that "profound artistry" exists today. But remember this before you make similar statements: perception can be heavily influenced by media.
@kehwa If you had bothered to read what I wrote, you'd have seen I never said that no other profound artistry exists today, simply that Garrett has a quality that reminds me of the greats of the past - virtually all of whom I heard live, as I am quite sure you did not. Re. media manipulation of the public: I've work in this business for 40 years,so please spare me your precocious pearls of wisdom. These are things about which I know a great deal more than you(if you're lucky) are ever likely to.
@assindiastignani "@kehwa No, but great individualism and profound artistry flourished then, in a way that they do not nowadays. Your point being....??" cough cough...... YOU FAIL! C'mon now. If you've worked in "this business" for 40 years I'd think you'd at least know you're talking to a musician.
I dont know what is more funny, that you consider him to be at the same level of Heifetz, Oistrach, rabin etc. or that you think he is the only young violinist that plays like that.
I am not saying that he is bad, but he is a fucking joke compared to the greats of 50 years ago, he is a joke compared to many many young violinists of today.
You want examples? Repin, Vengerov, Philippe Quint and many many others are much better than him.
@Underheifetz Charmingly put;but before you go getting your panties all in a bunch, try actually reading what I wrote.By the way,If I may ask, did you ever hear any of these people (Heifetz, Stern, Rabin, Milstein, Oistrakh, Francescatti, Kogan,) live? Because I did, which means I know, as you cannot possibly know, what it was like to sit in the hall and experience the presence and charisma of these artists. So please, don't lecture me, and do try to learn a few other adverbs besides f**k.
LOL I dont care at all if you have listened to all those people live, I dont care how old are you. All I care about is that if you seriously think that this clown is as good as them then you dont have any idea of what are you talking about.
I may have not heard them live but I have heard tons of recordings of them, in CD and DVD and now you are going to tell me that Garrett plays like them? hahahahaha
BTW, search Quint playing meditation and compare the sound.
@Underheifetz Good grief, all I said is that his playing reminds me of the violinists I used to hear as a little kid. It's not so much a comparison of quality,as of an emotional response to this performance, a response I don't have to many of the younger generation.I don't mean to be patronizing, but if you had heard Rabin or Oistrakh live, you'd know exactly what I mean. Why do you think Ida Haendel,Isaac Stern,Yehudi Menuhin were all so fascinated by Garrett? But,it's all subjective, right?
@MMMMMiaMMMMM Thanks. I love Hahn also. As you see, a got a lot of grief for simply saying I liked Garrett Mlles. Underheifetz (what would Freud make of that name??) and Kehwa really went ballistic. However, evn though their vituperation crossed the border of good manners and decency, still, it is good to see that people can get emotional abt. music.
@assindiastignani@assindiastignani see also Hahn Bin- an amazing young performance artist who also happens to play the violin like an angel............
