Drove one of these, would've got it but the engine sounded terrible, the steering was unresponsive and the acceleration was dismal. I would recommend checking out the Chrysler 300 or Cadillac CTS. They are both much better cars than this Japanese diarrhea explosion.

You're right, it doesn't compare to this, it's in a different league.

I do not settle for mediocrity. You seem to enjoy the fact that this car is based on a legacy engine design which has not seen much in the way of upgrades for the new generation Maxima. They've coaxed another 30 or so HP out of it, but all the good upgrades went to the Infiniti HR version.

Couple the antiquated VQ35 to a CVT (garbage) transmission, and FWD and you've got shit.

I'm dead serious.

i love everything about the 2009 nissan maxima and I mean EVERYTHING, but its that CVT thats preety much annoying me.i mean, no gears to change? theres nothing sporty about that!also, how do they expect the maxima to sell when the altima is basically a four-door sports car with the SE trim, engine power is the basically the same in the 0-60 case where the altima does 6.6 and the 09 maxima does 6.5,and the finally the altima offers a six-speed manual.if you ask me, the altima may be the real 4DSC

My father just picked one of these up today. I was lucky and got to drive it off the lot ;). This thing JUMPS! 290 horse and it goes! Sounds great too. Very comfortable. Paddle shifters are a bit hard to get used to because there is no change in RPM when shifting. It sounds a little weird because it's just one constant rise in RPM even when your shifting. Also handles very well for such a large car. The bose sound system with the 2 subs are awesome too :D

First of all, I fucking love Nissan.

Second, this Maxima is sexy. It's the second Max I've fallen in love with other than my mom's blackout 97' SE. Bought it brand new, and we still have it. I love that car, and I love this new one.. probably because the design and curves of the front fascia reminds me of the 97-99 SE's. 1995-1999 = 4th Gen = best Max ever.

I miss the white-faced gauges.. Nissan should try to do that again
