  • By the 7th set I couldn't even grip my 55lbs kettlebell anymore (one more and it would have went through the wall). I had to switch to my old 30lbs. I was doing 100% and it's hard to type.

  • I love this workout! It's quick, effective, and like Stephen says at the conclusion, something I can do first thing before I go to work.

  • It is a very good routine, but she should work on her form and use a little more weight. To increase the intensity, her arms should not be robotically straight and she should not squat that deeply.

  • I got a 40lb Kettlebell home and I do Tabata workouts with it. They don't need to be all double handed swings if you're doin the workout longer, eg: 15-20 mins. of 1 handed swings, high pulls, snatches, clean/squat/press, and vertical swings (since you use 2 hands for vertical swings do 2 sets in the minute). Try to get through that rotation 3-4 times and you'll be half dead at the end. Even better, try to complete Kenneth Jays Viking Warrior Conditioning workout...thats fuckin hard.

  • I tried this workout yesterday and I have never been in as much pain in my life as I am today. I am going to keep doing it though because I really feel the results for a long time afterwards.

  • Hi Sarah, thank you for posting this video. I have been doing this workout for two weeks and really love it. I usually do it 2 to 3 times and found it really tone my body. Would love to see more tabata training in the future.

    However, she isn't using enough intensity. You need to put 100% effort into each round. This means going as hard and as fast as you can. It looks like she was only putting about 70-75% effort into it. If you look at someone after they do Tabata correctly, they are on the ground struggling to catch their breath. They aren't standing around smiling.

    Instead of repeatedly saying I am wrong, why don't you look up what Tabata training actually is. Tabata is eight 20/10 intervals where you are giving 100% effort on each 20 second burst. If you are putting everything you have into each 20 second burst, you should be on the ground gassed afterward. She obviously wasn't putting 100% effort into it. In the original Tabata study, participants were hitting 170% of their VO2 max. Like I said look it up if you don't believe me.

You keep making repeated posts that my comment was wrong. The reason why I said to look up Tabata and how you are supposed to do it, is because my post is correct.

Also she is squatting on her swings and she needs to be snapoping from the hip and locking the knees...it comes from the hips and YOU ARE in control of the bell, not the bell over you. Shite technique BUT cool routine. TABATA is about intensity. If she had a beard, she'd look like my cousin...

    You are still proving my point for me though. When doing Tabata, you are supposed to g as hard and as fast as you can. In the original study that Izumi Tabata did with speed skaters, they were reaching 150% of their Vo2 max. I think the term "Tabata" has become too commercialized nowadays. Barely anyone actually does it properly. It is more than just 8 rounds of 20/10 intervals. You have to go all out.

  • You can use a regular handweight/dumbell for this exercise. I do this exercise all the time in my routines with a dumbbell. The truth is you only need a few basic pieces of equipment for weight training :)

  • Kettlebell certification instruction would be a good idea.

  • DON'T do this in the direction of fish tanks, windows, TV sets, or the cat. Also, don't do squats after Taco Bell and cabbage night. Trust me on this one.

  • I looooove Tabata's. They work really well! Just keep in mind, the 20 second interval is to MAX intensity.

  • You shouldn't do Tabata with weights, Tabata only works with cardio.

  • That is not true, don't use a weight that will fatigue your muscles to failure by the end but you can definitely use weights to get a cardio workout!
