  • @darkman542 if without the government of communists, why not

panslavia je veľká myšlienka, no ľahko zneužiteľná

    slava!

  • great song! Hails and Horns from Canada!

  • i love russian folk............... i hope the soviet union will rise again!

  • @darkman542 Who are you then; the General Direktor of Melodiya? If not, you also have to hope that he loves Russian folk rock too.

  • @darkman542 Not Soviet Union, But Slavic Union, with the same rights to all slavic lands.

  • I can listen to this over and over

  • esto me exita!!!!!!!!!

  • Why did they chose this band name? sounds nothing like finnish folk for sure

  • @dominic508 because they are a russian band?

  • @maxx7maxx7 ..Well, yea, exactly.. That's my point o.o Kalevala is The National Epic of Finland (their most well known book)

  • @dominic508 Kalevala (Russian Калевала, Karelian and Finnish Kalevala) is an urban-type settlement in the Republic of Karelia in northwestern Russia. Until 1963, the city of Ukhta (Russian Ухта, was Karelian and Finnish Uhtua).

    ...

Ukhta was one of the villages where Elias Lonnrot in the 19 Century, the oral folk poetry recorded on the basis he created the Finnish national epic Kalevala. In line with this, Ukhta was renamed in 1963 in Kalevala. (wikipedia) ^^

  • Why did a Russian music group name them self after Kalevala? Does anybody know the story behind this?

  • @mattoverho

ummmm.... if that is really their name and they are really russian that is probably the stupidest thing i have ever seen. i'm no expert but the kalevala is decidedly finnish and considering the way russia has attacked finland in the not too distant past it seems rather insulting.

  • @mattoverho maybe because many Russians like Finland and Finns. Or because the frontwoman has Finnish roots. Or because she likes that epos. But the right answer is, I think, "why the hell not?!"

Don't get insulted, it's the sign of respect.

  • @LuxDefensor Actually I think many Russians have finno-ugric roots.

  • @satail well, Finno-Ugric peoples living in Russia certainly do ))) I'm Moksha (commonly, and wrongly, referred to in the Russian language as "The Mordva" or "Mordovian people", although what Russians call the Mordva are two different peoples Moksha and Erzia).

  • @satail everything is easier, in the north of Russia living Finno Ugric peoples

  • Whoa! Russian metal is sweet! I like how they incorporate different instruments into the mix, makes for a very unique sound, and all mixes very well. The guitarist is insane! I'm loving this stuff. Rated 5 stars!

  • You may then also like Korpiklaani, Finntroll, Eluveitie, Turisas and Arkona. All of those are Finnish bands except Arkona, which is Russian. Folk Metal forever!

  • good recomendations, although Eluveitie are swiss.

  • Swiss? Ah well. Thanks for the info!

  • geil :D

  • Cool song! Happy folk metal!:)

  • Ahh...Kalevala,bun bun!

Numai bine! 5*
