@starchaser28 The compressed air of the torus isn't a solid thing, like a circular drumhead shape, but a ring. Imagine a smoke ring, right? If the torus did hit a cloud, it wouldn't make much of a show. The torus is spinning in such a way that it would fold the clouds back around itself as it went through, closing off the ring behind it as it entered the cloud, leaving no hole.

The description is far off, not by how its used but by what it does. The explosive gas expands and goes of the neck into the cone and once it exits it forms a vortex ring that move maybe close but not nearly at the speed of sound. If the airspeed inside the vortex is fast enough it will make this sound. To back up my claim the same sound can be heard from a passing commercial aircraft while landing. The vortexes created by the flaps create this exact sound. Look up Audible wake turbulence.
