Basically, your only hope is to get good grades early on and take the advanced classes so that you don't waste time with all the degenerate students who take over the lower level classes. There are opportunities at DV but it is totally on you to find them, because the staff has enough problems to worry about.

I attended Antioch Jr. High when Donna Covey was principal back in '94. Then she transitioned over to Deer Valley High. I attended the first year opening at DV in 1996. I have a feeling I saw this video in one of my classes, lol. The amount of students was a lot smaller because it was only Fresh and Soph only, the first year.

I graduated from DV in '07 and I wish the school didn't gain such negative views, especially now. When I went there I was actually proud of most of the facilities and available technology. Graphic tablets were even offered to use in my web design class! I had a number of great and memorable teachers too. The old choir teacher made DV's choirs champions for years! I just wish the school wasn't so crowded and that my former teachers didn't leave. Glad to hear good news about the new choir teacher.

I graduated there in 2001, about that time the school became WAY overcrowded and such additions such as many portable classrooms and prison style gates were placed there. You can't eat off campus like AHS can, and it's my understanding that kids get wanded at the entrances as well as a maditory display of school IDs on their person at all times. The school has also been riddled with gang activty and petty crimes like theft. I wouldn't send my kids there now.

I loved that school. You have 4 houses that you report to. 4 vice principals, along with the main Principle. When i went (99-03) there was an average of 3000 kids in attendance and it was segregated... not by teachers but by students own associations. It was fun... but to walk from the gym to house 1 was damn near a mile! 10 minutes was not enough!!! But it was a cool place to go. Everyone was jealous!

DV was built to be a great school with an amazing environment for students, but the its a shame to see where it is now. My parents when deciding the high school I was going to go to asked the Antioch Police which school was better. They were told the Antioch high school was the better of the two because there are no where as many problems as Deer Valley. That was 6 years ago. It has progressively gotten much worse. The same with Antioch HS.. Both high schools are filled with hate and violence.
