Hey music fans! if you like Bob Dylan check out my new album review channel Lava Lamp Review. On my channel I do album reviews of bands and album that people have forgotten about or just don't know about these days. Music today just isnt cutting it for me, so I'm here to talk about the great music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. So check out Lava Lamp Review! Your vintage music fix
When I checked in there was 178 Likes and 1 dislike. i'll make it 179 Likes. Hmm, I wonder who insisted on being the one dislike? Probably the same guy who has to open his old car door and bang your new car so he can feel better about himself at your hard earned expense.
i downloaded the bootleg version on torrent.. and there's a song that he plays directly after this one. he describes it as "this is a song about seeing someone that swears they've never saw you..." someone please tell me what that song is. it's beautiful
Music has never been bad... it's only popular music that has had it's ups and downs. You have to search much harder now than you have had to in the past because the market is so deluded and they are going to spoon feed you the same shit over and over and over if you keep eating. Spit that shit out and make an effort to find the great music that is FOR SURE out there right now and forever!

What happened to REAL music, Like Bob Dylan, The Beatles, etc? I'm 14, i wish I couldve been a part of the pre 70's era. Seems like music was so much better back then. I'm so sick of the lil wayne, eminem, ke$ha, B/S people are listening to. Bring back the artistry and the poetry!!!!!!!!!!!
i love the other live version that used to be on you tube. thats the song that got me addicted to bob, but cant find it anymore :( i think thats the version couple of other guys are commenting about
can someone please post another video of dylan covering this number.... it goes a little faster than this one.... been searchin for it... doesnot seem to be here.
@chaitanyasharma you mean the version from Bringing It All Back Home? I'll see what I can do. You won't find many Dylan songs or videos on youtube as they tend to get removed fairly quickly by Sony or whoever it is.
@7ali7 thanks a lot for ur efforts and ur reply... appreciate it... but i've searched whole of youtube... its not there... had the whole album... sold my car and it all went away with it... damn me
@chaitanyasharma MY PERSONAL FABORITE CUT OF THIS SONG IS ON THE "BOB DYLAN, LIVE AT BUDOKAN". I USED TO HAVE THE LP. WORE THE BASTARD OUT! AS I WEAR OUT EVERYTHING I BUY OF DYLAN!! I'LL TRY TO FIND IT TO POST.
I heard the original studio version of this in 1988 for the first time at work as a night doorman at the Art Alliance in Philly on my little portable radio. I just had to sit down and listen. "Sorry Mame, get your own damn door, I'm communing with eternity. Back in 10 minutes." Went out the next day and bought the CD which turns out has 10 other amazing songs on it, some of which I already knew well. But damn, how had I gone 26 years without ever before having heard this amazing song? Amazing...
Not a musical genius, my ass! I challenge anybody to write tunes as simply elegant as Bob Dylan's. This song notwithstanding. It just reeks of bitterness and cynicism in the guitar and vocal melody, and these perfectly complement the lyrics, and if you listen to other Dylan songs, you'll find this is a theme. The music is perhaps not as complex as some of the lyrics, but that's just to keep our heads from exploding.
@IGotARight It is an amazing recording. If you have Transmission or Bittorrent it's one of dozens of bootleg recordings available through various torrent sites. I don't think Bob would mind us not paying for the pleasure of his music, would he now?
This has to be the best written song in recent history. And I'm not just talking lyrics, Dylan gets his dues as a lyricist, but nobody realizes what a musical genius he is. The guitar part is extremely poetic in that it says just what it needs to make the message perfectly clear without adding any "fluff".
@UndergroundMan1984 that's because he isn't a musical genius... there's a reason even Dylan himself said he was a poet first and a musician second. It's because musically, he's not very good. His songs are 100% about the lyrics and the way they are sung. That's why he's good. His music is so plain.
@umbroog fair enough... I didn't really mean it as a criticism, just a statement of fact. He'd never win any awards for song writing in terms of musicianship was really my point. His music is amazing because of his lyrics, not because of the melodies he writes. But "simplicity at its finest" is a good way of putting it.
Great cover my fav bob song! If you love Bob, I’m sure you’re gonna love me too. I made an apocalyptic song called "A Winter Evening's Tale" which I dedicate to him. This is for all of us folks facing 2011. Do check it out in my channel or check it out in the video response of my fav. video. The song references Pilgrim's Progress, bible, Alice in the wonderland, peter pan, Shakespeare, Revelations, crusades etc. It also depicts eerie classical paintings. Have a creepy and folky new year!
@chicagopizza76 very close contest with like a rolling stone i think. but i'd have to give it to its alright, just for the sheer cynicism in the lyrics
This is probably the most personal and RAW / REAL Dylan you will ever hear.
Would love to knwo the history of this clip and the guy who made it in some rehearsal hall or stage .

I thought this was the All Hallow's Eve version!
I gotta get this, I don't have this in such quality
(if that ain't proof that posting Dylan -- or anybody -- works TO sell and not against, I don't know what is...)
fantastic version; love before this when after he introduces it, someone laughs and he says "yes, it's a very funny song"!
