Also, I've seen many, many commercial egghouses. All are cruel enough, but none I've ever seen are anywhere near this dirty and neglected. The lack of management shows and just how fresh are those eggs, anyway?

OK, this is terrible, it would be why I do not buy anything but the FREERANGE EGGS from trader joes... I think it would be great if trader joes would stop buying from these guys, but many people will not pay the high price for eggs from chickens that are treated better, I am not supporting this in anyway, just saying that I don't believe that this is all trader joes offers, I pay about $4.50 for a dozen to get FREERANGE (not cagefree!) so that they are treated better. HORRIBLE. THose poor hens...I've never trusted Trader Joe! Wish I could boycott them but sometimes I have no choice but to shop there for their reasonable "Organic" frozen vegetables.
