I don't know how anyone could think Freitas was better than Corrales. Acelino didn't have enough firepower or skill to beat Corrales...EVER. They could fight ten times and Diego would knock him out every time. Freitas was quick, sure, but he was technically inferior and didn't have the chin to withstand Diego's power.

@Kedbuka You´re right about freitas´ skill and chin but you ´re wrong when ya talk about his power. Like the other guy said above Freitas was a knock out artist. However diego was a better (much) better fighter than Freitas.

No Poo poo was not a better fighter he was definately a better track star but not a better fighter. Freitas was not tired he was scared. He told me that. He said he thought Chico was going to kill him and all he could think about was his kids and that's why he quit. And that came straight out of Freitas's mouth.

i Really think he was better than Chico, and he was clearely winning the fight, his mistake was change his way to fight, he was always a Brawler, but his coaches, where triyng to do him a more tecnical fighter, with a classic style, and Popó didn`t adapted his game to that style, see the second Knockdown, was an unecessary attack of Popó,that was because,his way to fight,was telling him to go on, but he attacked in the wrong time,he would administrate the fight.

My guess would be he was concerned about the power of Corrales. Freitas probably wanted to get Corrales out of their early while he was fresh and had the pop in his punches, but ended up just making it Corrales's kind of fight. I think if Freitas would have came out boxing, and did not waste so much energy in the early rounds trying to take Corrales out he would have had a good chance of winning a decision or late stoppage. It was a good fight though, nice post!!
