I personally dont like the idea of the cells or "betta condo". Do you let the out into the yard and fight? not a good idea either. love the tank though super clean setup.
i really think the condos are not very ideal if you plan to keep your bettas in it until they die... it's sort of a cruelty because it's way too small... i think you better get a less powerful air pump or maybe why not just settle with a plain filter -_- hope you'd get other tanks for the other bettas... because it would be so sad if you're bettas die especially in my case... i've been dreaming of plakats, and crowntails... -_- all we've got here in my place r red and blue veil bettas....
You should get an african dwarf frog! PS I love watching your videos and I catch crawfish and of course its release and by a net and where did you get the dividers?
Hey I have a question. How do you take your bettas out of the condo to rotate them? Do you have a net that can fit into the individual condos? I have a problem taking out my bettas sometimes and they tend to freak out and hurt themselves from being scared
@Ismaelcruz1 rotating / cycling the bettas in the tank is not a very good idea as it would just tend to stress them.. why not throw that fish condo and go for another tank at least 3 gallons
betta master, how to keep your water so clean and crystal?? what substance you use? and what kind of sand is that???
i have the same betta condo too! to bad is only 4 slots... im looking for full 20inch betta condo that fills the whole length of my 10gal. currently i put females sorority outside condo and 4 different kind of males (crowntail, halfmoon, double tail, and veil)
Hey there, I love your betta set up and I want to make a similar one for myself... I went and found a craw fish and everytihng. I was wondering where you got that betta condo from? Ive been looking everywhere and cant seem to find one.
@marrader21 please never get a betta condo... it's so much better to have one betta in a tank... it's so sad to see bettas in such a cramped space. -_- please never get a betta condo i'm begging you! and please never settle for air pumps... a heater, filter, and thermometer should be enough... thanks in advance if you do this... if you don't, please say sorry for me to your betta (i tried my best to convince you)
I hate the idea of a betta condo. thats such a small space to keep them in. would you enjoy living in a little 3 by 3 clear box? and they are probabaly really stressed to be able to see each other
wow u really are the betta master i'm getting a new tank set up soon and my very first betta pairs, do you have any tips on someone new to breeding? i'm just woried i wont feed the babies the right food or the male might kill the female. =(
@TheBettaMaster what do you have to do when getting bettas i have a 35 gallon tank w/ 3 tetra red tail shark gold algae eater dalmation molly and 3 Gouramis should i just put the betta w/ them or should i get i 5 gallon bowl or thing you can put on the wall and do you need a filter and heater also what do they eat really im new to fish i have no clue when it comes to betta please help they are neat fish and i want one
@TheBettaMaster nice dragon u have in there, check out mine, urs scalling is better than mine, but my color differ from urs,urs is at the darker side and is very nice in my opinion
so how do you switch them out??? do you use a net? i feel like thats moving the fish too much...... do you give them each a day in the tank at a time?
WOW THIS IS AMAZING. im soo gonna do this once my fish in my 10 gallon die. this is great now i dont need to have little tanks everywhere and my fish get more room and i can have more bettas and save more lives!!!!!!!!
How do you reccomend to keep your water temperature? The room temp. here is about 75-76 degrees and it may just be that the water feels cold but accualy is 75-76. I dont see a heater in your tank so im just wondering...
I use the marineland stealth heater. It blends into the black background well and is hard to see. I keep the temperature in the mid 70s to low 80s in my betta tanks.
@ TheBettaMaster..i saw a previous comment...There are many species of crayfish, and some may be more aggressive than others. There are many species of crayfish, and some may be more aggressive than others. It's almost always risky to keep fish and crayfish together, but there are ways you can minimize the danger.
It's probably not a good idea to keep both a free roaming betta and a crayfish together. This setup you see here is still risky, but a smaller 3-5 gallon tank would be even riskier.
k i really need help, i have 2 females, and 1 male, one of my younger females is in the 2.65 gallon, and i put in a divider in the 10 gallon, one for male and female on each side, the male flares and does a "dance" but why won't my male make the bubble nest? i read tons of articles, and i've checked that the female has several virtical stripes, and shes large enough, and she has a roundish belly, but the male is old enough also, i did the 2 week conditioning but he won't make thebubblenest!help
o and i should add, UsedUpDope247 is my brothers account (its still me tho) and i have one more thing, when you first place the filter, how long does it take till the filter does its job (until its starts clearing up the water) cuz the water started of a bit murky cuz of my betta's, will it just take a day? cuz i'm thinking its not working anymore
It starts working right away, but not in the way you may think. The activated carbon in the filter binds to harmful substances in the water that you can't see, and the sponge portion of the filter removes larger particles. It also grows beneficial bacteria that keep the ammonia levels low in the water. Your water could take a few days to look clear, but the filter is working right now.
thanks a lot TheBettaMaster, i just got my filter that seems to be working just fine, and i just got my thermonator, and my heater, it all works fine! i really like the discus, so i'm going to change plans:
i think ill just stick to having my 2 bettas, and get rid of the tiger barbs, and 4 tetras instead of 6, is it stil crowded? -i'm going to make a vid of my tank soon, and hopefully put it on youtube, and plz comment!
That tank would be too crowded for the discus, but everything else should be fine. I actually made a mistake in my video, It's not an Otto Cat... It's called a Flying Fox. Most of the fish you have listed will eat the same thing.
thanks, lol i'm sounding like a newbie, but i really like my fish, but i don't wan't it messed up. here is what i think i might have in my tank (i already have 2 betta's in my 10 gallon tank)
k:1 discus
2 angelfish
3 betta's (female ofcoarse cuz i guess i don't wan't them to breed)
1 auto cat (lol u got me interested in them)
3 tiger barbs,
and 6 tetras,
will it be too crowded, and how much work will i need to put into it, and what kind of food do they eat, or share the same food,
holy shit, in one of your vids, you said one of these guys will be lucky to be with the girl one, so ur ready for 200+ ? anyways, is there ways for making it less, cuz i wan't more, but i don't want schools of fish, and not to mention half will be boys and i'll have to seperate em all, any tips?
Even though there are a lot of fish fry, it's rare to have more then 10% survive. Only the strongest of the fish make it to adulthood. You don't have to separate fry for a long, long time. They get along well when they are young. Also, it's impossible to distinguish between males and females till later in life.
Both of your dragons have beautiful sharp caudals, though I hope your fry take after the mother with the anal fin! :) Have you bred this lovely pair yet?
I had the bettas for awhile before I started posting videos. I converted the betta tank, to a temporary home for my discus. As soon as my larger tank is ready, I'll move the discus in there... and the smaller tanks in these videos will likely be homes for bettas again.
Thanks. I don't currently have any bettas, but that will change in the future. I am currently focusing on aquascaping planted tanks and discus fish, but when I'm done... I'm sure I'll return to betta breeding for competition in the IBC.
what type of crayfish is logan =D cause im getting a marbled crayfish from aquabid on thursday =D caint wait till it comes im gonna put it in my 29 gal tank =D
It will go after pretty much anything. It has already caught and eaten a few neons, two corydoras, and a loach. Anything that is smaller and doesn't swim too fast is pretty much a goner in this tank.
I use to use a gravel vac, but now I just use a narrow rubber tube (allows for more maneuverability). When using sand, most of the debris will accumulate on top (unlike gravel where debris seeps thru into the cracks & spaces). You'll find that sand is cleaner than gravel in this regard, because the filth doesn't get trapped the way it does with gravel and allows for easy cleaning. Also, since less filth/debris is trapped, your water filter will be able to keep the water cleaner.
The Halfmoon Dragon Plakats were imported from Thailand through a specialty betta breeder. I will email you the information. The crayfish tries very hard to catch them, but my bettas are well conditioned and strong. If you watch my latest video 'More Footage of Halfmoon Dragon Plakats' you can see the crayfish try to catch the plakat at the very end. That was the closest it ever came to catching a betta. Other fishes I've had in this tank were not so lucky.

It will go after pretty much anything. It has already caught and eaten a few neons, two corydoras, and a loach. Anything that is smaller and doesn't swim too fast is pretty much a goner in this tank.

how do u clean the tank? standard gravel vaxc?
Rohan4basu 2 years ago
I use to use a gravel vac, but now I just use a narrow rubber tube (allows for more maneuverability). When using sand, most of the debris will accumulate on top (unlike gravel where debris seeps thru into the cracks & spaces). You'll find that sand is cleaner than gravel in this regard, because the filth doesn't get trapped the way it does with gravel and allows for easy cleaning. Also, since less filth/debris is trapped, your water filter will be able to keep the water cleaner.

thank you the information was very helpful. btw where did u buy thoses dragon fish from and does the cray fish bother them?

The Halfmoon Dragon Plakats were imported from Thailand through a specialty betta breeder. I will email you the information. The crayfish tries very hard to catch them, but my bettas are well conditioned and strong. If you watch my latest video 'More Footage of Halfmoon Dragon Plakats' you can see the crayfish try to catch the plakat at the very end. That was the closest it ever came to catching a betta. Other fishes I've had in this tank were not so lucky.
