a couple years ago i was bit by a pitbull that was not properly trained by the owner. regardless, i still love pitbulls. they are loving and caring dogs and can be very obedient and loyal when raised properly. people fail to realize that any dog can attack and become vicious when raised to be that way. regardless of the feelings about them, it is NOT RIGHT and will NEVER be justified that these animals are being euthanized. might as well kill every human because some commit murder right?

My pit is from pulling stock in Florida, he's 95 pounds of meat n cheese. Seriously, the strongest dog I've ever owned. Anyway, we live in Oregon where he acts as a guard dog, nanny, garbage disposal, and substitute cuddler for my gf when I'm not home. U shd see him with my sisters toddlers. @mdslick1 ok i could only find one question out of all the comments. why did my dog get attacked? um idk. my dog was running around with the others, and then the owner came in and instead of keeping it on a leash and carefully introducing it to all the dogs to make sure it will get along with all of them, he let it off the leash and the pitbull went straight for my dog. it tried biting him but i kicked it so hard it made a backflip in the air and then the owner tried fighting with me.

I think Amercan Pit Bull Terriers should be banned everywhere. First of all, they are known to be aggessive and some have bitten or even attacked people. Second, not very many people are mentally and physically fit to own one. Most people who do own Pit Bulls are low lifes that are trying to boost their appearence with a "tough" looking dog. And third, a Pit Bull killed my beloved 11 year old cat two months ago. I will never forgive this awful breed, and the humans who created it.

For one thing breed bans are ineffective. Even though the laws are tight on the ownership of Pit Bulls, people still continue to get them. Believe it or not, more people are getting Pits in Denver since the ban had started.
I used to think that Pit Bulls were bad dogs a few years ago. Then I met my girlfriend who had a 1 year old Pit. We have been together for almost 2 years now and I have to say that my view on them has turned completely 180 degrees. He is the best dog I have ever known and would never hurt anybody. @bella50008 yeah actually my Pit IS as sweet as I am.I have taken him to elderly facilities and he is an ambassador for the breed. I have been attacked on several occasions by LABS and on one occasion I was almost killed, but my pit mix came to my rescue and chased him off WITHOUT harming him. Pitbulls are some of the best dogs out there!!! I have had them all of my life, and NOT one was ever aggressive!!! My pitbull that I have now is around my bestfriends 3 year old daughter all of the time, and all she does is wag her tail and give her kisses!
Every dog has the tendency to attack, and every dog will if it is treated wrong!
You can tell me all you want about pitbull's being bad dogs and dangerous dogs...but I dont really care what you have to say!
Thank you for including the stats about the increase of Pits & decline in dog bites-Very interesting! While I know it's not a solution by any means (BSL needs to be overturned) why are these dogs not being sent to AZ? We often rescue pits from Kansas City, so why not Denver? If not already in place relationships between Denver & AZ shelters/rescues needs to be set up.
Another big problem is the "bully breed".It seems the abda , for some reason, is promoting the practice of crossing pits with larger dogs that typically have different traits.These 100 pound freaks are also generally called pitbulls.
@MrSafetymeeting The American Pitbull Terrier is not recognized by AKC. I was listing the AKC breeds in the video. APBT is a breed recognized by the United Kennel Club in Europe.

I specifically mentioned that I was listing the AKC breed names. I also specified that there are other names used by other organizations... making the whole thing more confusing.
I agree with you that APBTs are AmStaffs. AKC says that is not so. But there are dogs with dual registry as APBT with UKC and AmStaff with AKC.
@mikefry A friend of mine has one of those dual registered dogs.Great dog.Denver seems to have some of the worst dog related laws.I've seen HORRIBLE pictures of ths dead dogs.I'm lucky to live in the SF bay area where pitbulls are common and generally accepted.I have heard the mayor comparing pitbulls to bears ,so that could change.

Amstaffs have some slightly different traits because of different standards.The first Amstaffs were Colby pits and were a sneaky way of registering with the AKC.Staffies or Staffordshire bull terriers are smaller and maybe from different lines. As a Denver resident, I think the ban is unfair. I hope that next year, we can replace the city council members with more open minded people and get rid of stupid cunts like Carol Boigon who doesn't know her ass from a hole in the ground. @krazye419 Thanks for your reply. I plan to really get involved in next year's election to replace these city council members. I'm not sure what the Mayor's position on this is, but something I plan to find out. I was at the Denver Animal Shelter this weekend and saw the most awesome pitbull. I would have adopted him in a heartbeat but was told he would be transferred to another shelter. But he was very sweet and I hope he will find a good home.
The only problem with the PB ban is that it affects PB's already in the city instead of "grandfathering" them in. The law should NOT be applied retroactivly like that, taking dogs away from their owners. They should have made it prohibit only to NEW PB's, then mandate all current PB's be registered and neutered/ speyed. This way, the PB problem goes away as the PB's grandfathered in die-off naturaly.
@YouToobWatcher3 All 3 of my pitbulls have been around children and never had one problem 2 of them have died now from old age. It's how you raise the dog and socialize them. It's just to many bad dog owners get there hands on "pitbulls" and mistreat them and they become violent. Buy a pitbull and raise it the way it's supposed to be raised then you'll see. STOP THE HATE

I own a pit bull and as someone whose been around dogs all my life, I've never owned nor met a more sweet loving and loyal animal. a couple years ago i was bit by a pitbull that was not properly trained by the owner. regardless, i still love pitbulls. they are loving and caring dogs and can be very obedient and loyal when raised properly. people fail to realize that any dog can attack and become vicious when raised to be that way. regardless of the feelings about them, it is NOT RIGHT and will NEVER be justified that these animals are being euthanized. might as well kill every human because some commit murder right?

My pit is from pulling stock in Florida, he's 95 pounds of meat n cheese. Seriously, the strongest dog I've ever owned. @mdslick1 ok i could only find one question out of all the comments. why did my dog get attacked? um idk. my dog was running around with the others, and then the owner came in and instead of keeping it on a leash and carefully introducing it to all the dogs to make sure it will get along with all of them, he let it off the leash and the pitbull went straight for my dog. it tried biting him but i kicked it so hard it made a backflip in the air and then the owner tried fighting with me.

I think Amercan Pit Bull Terriers should be banned everywhere. First of all, they are known to be aggessive and some have bitten or even attacked people. Second, not very many people are mentally and physically fit to own one. Most people who do own Pit Bulls are low lifes that are trying to boost their appearence with a "tough" looking dog. And third, a Pit Bull killed my beloved 11 year old cat two months ago. I will never forgive this awful breed, and the humans who created it.

We have been together for almost 2 years now and I have to say that my view on them has turned completely 180 degrees. He is the best dog I have ever known and would never hurt anybody. @bella50008 yeah actually my Pit IS as sweet as I am.I have taken him to elderly facilities and he is an ambassador for the breed. I have been attacked on several occasions by LABS and on one occasion I was almost killed, but my pit mix came to my rescue and chased him off WITHOUT harming him. I agree not everyone should own a Pit bull, but KILLING all of them is heartless to the extreme. That's what a ban does. They dont care if the dog never harmed anyone, they kill them anyway Hows that fair?

Pitbulls are some of the best dogs out there!!! I have had them all of my life, and NOT one was ever aggressive!!! My pitbull that I have now is around my bestfriends 3 year old daughter all of the time, and all she does is wag her tail and give her kisses!

Thank you for including the stats about the increase of Pits & decline in dog bites-Very interesting! While I know it's not a solution by any means (BSL needs to be overturned) why are these dogs not being sent to AZ? We often rescue pits from Kansas City, so why not Denver? If not already in place relationships between Denver & AZ shelters/rescues needs to be set up.

I specifically mentioned that I was listing the AKC breed names. I also specified that there are other names used by other organizations... making the whole thing more confusing.
I agree with you that APBTs are AmStaffs. AKC says that is not so. But there are dogs with dual registry as APBT with UKC and AmStaff with AKC.

Amstaffs have some slightly different traits because of different standards.The first Amstaffs were Colby pits and were a sneaky way of registering with the AKC.Staffies or Staffordshire bull terriers are smaller and maybe from different lines. Many APBT's are also registered as Amstaffs.How different could they be?Not trying to be a smart ass.Tell me what I got wrong or where I should look for better info.Always willing to learn.

As a Denver resident, I think the ban is unfair. I'm not sure what the Mayor's position on this is, but something I plan to find out. I was at the Denver Animal Shelter this weekend and saw the most awesome pitbull. I would have adopted him in a heartbeat but was told he would be transferred to another shelter. But he was very sweet and I hope he will find a good home.

The only problem with the PB ban is that it affects PB's already in the city instead of "grandfathering" them in. The law should NOT be applied retroactivly like that, taking dogs away from their owners. They should have made it prohibit only to NEW PB's, then mandate all current PB's be registered and neutered/ speyed. This way, the PB problem goes away as the PB's grandfathered in die-off naturaly.
