Making a game like minecraft requires amazing talent in the field of game development. I may not be a fan of all the things he makes, but that does not mean in any way he's bad at what he does.

Nevertheless, I have to admit: After all, Notch seems that he is sometimes a bit... um... messy with the code. That's the reason for many bugs and others. Besides his flaws, he has some pretty decent coding skills, though.

it has over 20 milllion people playing,and over 4 million people have brought the game.C++ may increase performance by a bit,but the gameplay would be the same.Java can do what c++ can+ in better/easier ways.Learn Java before you make false statements about it.

@chrisall76 The game is fun no matter which language is written. But java is choppy laggy in most computers, and more in non-windows os. C++ minecraft clones tested on my macbook i get like 70 fps dynamic lighting open gl 2.0 (java does not support 3D moving lights and uses opengl 1.X) smooth all high. Minecraft normal settings 20 fps (35 fps optifine) 1.0 gig of memory. I mean how is that only 1 person can code C++ full compatible game and notch whit a full team and resources cant

@chrisall76 minecraft EAT 1.0 gyg of ram, and the clone is almost complete. Real programmers learn more languages. If 1 person can why cant a team of 10 whit the money, the java language and c++ are alike a lot in terms of OOP and their ways of doing things. Java without JVM is not java, so if it does not perform well is beacuase of java(java is suppose to work well in lots of systems).

fuuuuuuuckkkkkkk is because the server is written on java too. In Minetest a minecraft clone, the developer says (My development server has never got more than 10, but I have heard that someone has hosted 100 players on an Atom notebook...) .

@orange451 Actually, if you every read notch's blog, he admits to how much he actually knows about the languages he programs in, he even says that hes barely touched the surface of java. And minecraft is actually poorly coded, i decompiled it and there are more inefficiencies then there are efficiencies. Although, minecraft has a very big source and more than 5 billion lines of code - that takes some effort right there, so i give credit to notch for trying so hard!

Minecraft is not a clone of Infiniminer, it is based on its concept, and Infiniminer is, as I've stated a few times already, open source.
