  • Ummm....how do we know what pedal was what?? The base sound through the Super is already fantastic though...that helps!

  • i like analogman more fat tone

  • 1:34 = OMG

  • Sick tone and playing and just goes to show that talent makes good tone.

  • can't tell anything through that crappy camera mic. oh well I'm glad you own all three of those and the pre cbs fender amp

  • which is your favorite?

  • Hey! Great tone!!! Can You tell please, what gauge are You using?

  • Which pickups are in that strat?

  • Nice playing

  • sooo, which is ur favorite?

  • This is killer man. Nice all around.

  • Amazing, soulful playing.

What volume are you on the super, EQ settings?

  • great axe! but why is there a fender logo if its a warmoth?

    great demo!

  • That is easily the closest I've ever heard someone to Jimi's tone and feel. Congrats.

  • great groove going on

  • iGreat playing! love the riff. is your guitar tuned down? What key are you in?

  • @beldridge57

    Key if E, I might have been tuned down a half-step, I can't recall.

  • Nice Jimi tones and playing.

  • GREAT vid, what trannys does your particular '70 pedal have?

  • @noah1i8

    i don't know

  • Nice playing!

  • sounds great man...

  • Thanks Man! BTW great playing, I love it. Crazy your tone sounds just like Jimi's Marshalls with celestions.

  • What kind of speakers are in the Super Reverb?

  • @Slappinda5

    original Jensen C-10R's

  • omg its jimi hendrix!

  • Superreverbking:

Do you still have the Semour Duncan Antiquities in this strat, or should I say actually, is that what's in it on this video?

  • @yjmsrv

Check my comments from 4 months ago. I think they were Fralins in this vid. The guitar you see is long gone now.

  • Not even close. Analogman far superior

  • hear my fuzz comin'!

  • bluesy ,,nice playing

what's the point of a reverse headstock, jw isnt it more of a hassle to reach the tuners?

  • Which fuzz (doesn't have to be one of these) would be the best at replicating his tone at monterey in 67?

  • any decent fuzzface clone really. fulltone 69, london fuzz, sunface, or u could go with a roger mayer pedal...he actually helped build and modify alot of hendrix's fuzzes and makes replicants of those today.

  • oxfuzz too. no wait!

  • They sound so good that I couldn't pick up one!!!

'69 seems to have a BIG voice..

    Nice playing, bravo!

  • I hear that train a running. Nice playing!

  • Really Fuzzfaces Sound so beautiful on a clean fender blackfacve????

  • well, this is a super reverb. supers CAN be a bit marshall-y but not all. depends a lot on how it was set-up. mods, speakers, how loud it's cranked, etc.

  • Nice playing ;o)

  • very nice, wich is your favourite and why?

  • What pickups , , they are not mexican ?

  • Hmmm. good question. I can't remember. However, I have a video of the same fuzzes UTube I recorded on 03/09/08 (two days prior to this) with the same guitar. On that vid I stated this guitar was loaded with either Fralin VH's or Real 54's. Probably VH's.

These are probably the pickups in this vid.

  • which amp were you using??? Fender super reverb???

  • man that was awesome! and to be honest they all sounded great! but really cant go wrong with anything fulltone/analogman

  • Dude this video is badass. It helped me decide on the NKT. I really love mine, and this video does it great justice.

Props for good playing and good taste in gear.

  • I recently tested a Fulltone '70 and that was not for me, however, I found that your demo was very spot on, the '70 does really sound like that, a bit more nasal and a bit short on high mids. Too bad the 69 has gotten more expensive since he quit making them. All in all, great demo!

  • try the JH Dunlop fuzz face reissue

  • I've tried that one also, but it didn't have the nice clean-up I was after.

  • really? i tried it yesterday with a humbucker equipped guitar. the clean up was pretty good.

  • It's not the fact that it cleans up, it's the character of the clean-up :)

I mainly use SC-equipped guitars and it sounded too muddy.

  • to each his own, i guess. i was just using the store guitar and was impressed by its clarity actually. you would usually get the mud from a germanium unit. :^)

  • I ordered a Fulltone Deja vibe and a Fulltone '70. Are there any tips you can share as far as pedal/amp settings for getting the most out of the pedals?

  • run your fuzz with the fuzz knob maxed and volume to taste. the mid knob should be turned fully counter-clockwise to duplicate an original Fuzz Face. Oh yeah, crank your amp.

  • sweet tone, loved the demo on the pedals, whats the specs on your warmoth neck, including fret size and radius??.I wonna purchase one for my strat.

  • large frets, 7 1/4" radius, dual truss rods.

  • Your guitar neck back contour, was it the standard thin, fat or boat choice,Or did you use the new custom neck back contours.I have big hands and was thinkin' about goin with the Fat back contour.

  • Fantastic demo!!!

Problem is, I like them all, better start saving :p

  • thx - they are all great pedals

  • what was the hissing sound at the beginning? how was your amp set?

  • I am fascinated by how the pedal lowers your pitch a semitone!

  • They're all very good. Ge vs Si is a fallacy of an argument because they're both good at their own thing. Ge for early Hendrix tones and Si for later ones (Band of Gypsys and First Rays of the New Rising Sun). All of these pedals replicate Fuzz Face tones quite accurately.

  • Great playing and I love the sound of the '70!

  • yeah, the 70 pedal is nice

  • Awesome. Great playing makes a huge difference, though. Rock on.

  • thanks for viewing the vid

  • I have to agree, I have a Sunface and a '70, but the Germanium sunface is kinda creamier and not as harsh. Nice demo.

  • germanium

  • hear my train a coming...very nice

  • thanks

  • great tones and playing!

  • thank you

  • great tones. i am going to order a '70!

  • cool! it's a great fuzz

  • yeah, great vids man, I like the stuff you do. great tones too!

  • thanks for watching

  • Nice playing, you're good.

  • thanks

  • very nice sound .. and good rif. Keep going!

  • thanks for watching

  • good good sound man !!!!!!!

  • thanks!

  • love the guitar mate. i'm a sucker for a big headstock strat...i have three! awsome tone and playing!

  • thanks for watching

  • great demo!

    rock!

    gmd

  • thanks

  • another man who has heard the greatest piece of guitar in history , hear my train comin Rainbow bridge ..also the best album

  • I have a strat just like yours, (Mines yellow)

a MIM "Jimi" '68 strat. May I ask, did you change your p'ups? If so to what? Thanks!!

  • hmmmm - i think fralin vh. the guitar was sold 2 months ago.

  • why would you sell it? it is an awsome guitar!

  • Just curious which ger. transitors you have in your analogman ??The newer nkt 275 or the older nkt 275??....Nice playing Bro..

  • i don't know - it was bought new about 2 years ago

  • That demo was excellent, I was looking into each of those pedals and the 70 might be just right. It's either that or a Skreddy Lunar module as I love the Gilmour tones. Wish I could build one of these from a kit but I don't know if it turns out as nice as the pedals in the demo.

  • I don't believe the '69 is made any longer.

  • Yes, I know, I think they ran out of the germanium transistors or something, however, I like the 70 better :). Great playing!

  • nice playin' and sounds, but which pedal is which?

  • one of the best fuzz tones in youtube!!Great!!

Hey man, on the 70 pedal are you use adapter or battery?? Have a big difference?? Thanks

  • Thanks - all pedals were battery powered in this vid, IIRC.

  • Mmmm,

Sounds good but I didn't know which pedals were which. Wish you would have let us know when you demonstrated which of the pedals you were demoing.

  • Watch closely. You caqn hear me turn on eacj pedal (and turn off the prior one too).

  • Great tone and chops. What were your settings for the Fulltone 70 (approximately)? Thanks.

  • fuzz maxed - volume about 2:00 - mids off

  • Man....very nice phrasing and beaultiful tone.

  • thankyou

  • Great playing, you nailed the jimi sound and feel

  • thanks

  • Dig the left handed neck Jimi!

  • GREAT feel in your playing, and nice job on the eric clapton cream-era style bends

  • thanks!

  • would your prefer a Peavey Classic 30 or a Fender Blues Jnr.?

  • if i had to pick, i would say the peavey. i'm not a big fan of a stock blues Jr., having owned one. Neither amp is really where I'm at though.

  • Great job with the Jimi! I've had all the Fuzz pedals you are playing. right now I only have the '69 (my favourite). Nothing beats a good fuzz pedal.

  • they are cool pedals. slightly different, but all good.

  • fucking great tones!!

  • thanks!

  • Hello sir, I was wondering what sort of strings that you be playin yer blues with? They sound excellent...I just want to find some really good ones besides the Fender strings!

  • these would be a D'Addario set starting with a 10

  • hi i love your demo with both the fulltones and the analog man, i'm really aiming towards getting a 70 but i have a question. i bought a seymour duncan tweak fuzz and i love the sound...but for some reason the vol. at noon and gain at noon are quieter than my amp with bypass i have a blues jr with a '86 jap strat you think you can help me with this?

  • Fuzzes are weird devices at times. Some have better volume and gain than others. For instance, the AM has to have its volume turned to 3:00 to sound really good and loud enough. The 70 and 69 need only be turned to 12:00. I have discarded the desire to stick with the "recommended" settings for these pedals and just set them according to what my ears tell me is the best.

For your Duncan fuzz, if 12:00 is too quiet, turn it louder. Thanks for watching!

  • your welcome...well i only asked becaue when i tested it out at my local shop i tested it on a 212 fender deluxe and on clean with vol. at 5 the vol on the pedal at noon was louder than clean so thats why i was wondering.

  • fwiw - i run all my fuzzes with the "fuzz" knob maxed.

  • lol same here i just got worried when i took it home if mine was defective lol keep jamin with the hendrix i love it!

  • i noticed, that the 69 with the volume cranked sounds better than with the volume on noon ;-)

  • seriously some great hendrix licks in there...you've listened to Hear My Train Comin more than once

  • thanks!

  • please help me with my problem with the 69

with my cheap peavy rage 158 it sounds great.

with my fender HRD there's no crisp ...

  • hmmm... that's rather hard to address. All fuzzes need to "see" a relatively loud amp to sound their best. Perhaps you're not turning your HRD up loud enough. Also, play with the 69's bias and contour knobs to "dial it in" for your HRD.

You want to produce a stout sound with fuzz pedals. You need to play with your amp's tone controls. Use your ears.

  • i think i know the problem now: i used a strat with gold lace sensors ... which do not sound like real single coils!!! and i also used an american telecaster with very old strings.

my strat with texas special SCs sounds great with the 69

  • glad you got it worked out!

  • great playing! i like the 69 better ... for me it sounds sweeter than the AM :)

  • nice playing my friend!!

I was wondering what kind of strat is that?

  • Mexican body/Warmoth neck/Fralin pickups

  • are those the franlin vintage hot pickups??

    well thanks for your time...

  • They are either Vintage Hots or Real 54's. I can't remember which! Anyway, I took them out and loaded Fender CS '69s a week ago.

  • How are the CS 69s compared to the fralins?

  • more top end and bottom. a little glassier. a more traditonal strat sound.

  • Hi, Could you tell me the settings on the pedals? Were they set for unity with your bypassed signal? If not,how do these pedals rect when set for unity? I'm trying to get it soI can turn off my fuzz pedal and use the sound of the amp here and there. Have my cake and eat it too...

  • They were not set for unity gain with the straight signal. I always run the volume on my fuzzes at noon or more (the Analogman was more like 3:00).

My advice for your situation is to set your amp the way you like it to sound, sans effects. Then, set your fuzz to give you an increase in volume (meanining noon or higher) and gain (or fuzz).

  • I have a 69 and a soul-bender. I used to own the 70 but it was too bright for me. Is ther a big difference between the analog man and the 69; I want to buy an analog man but, by the sound on your video, the 60 sounded better. Also, go try the new turquoise Dunlop; it is a killer for the silicon type fuzz.

  • I don't detect too much of a difference between the AM Sunface and the 69 pedal. The 69 has a bit more control over it's parameters (more knobs that do things!). Both sound great. I kind of like the 70's best though.

  • i love your demos, post more please!

i need a fuzz and considered one of those you played here, but they all sound great in your demos. Do you have a favourite?

  • For pure "fuzzieness" I think the 70 pedal is best, particularly with the interbal trimmer is turned up to about 1:00. The 69 and AM Sunface are very similar in performance and have more of a "wooly" tone.

When it comes to fuzztone, I like a distinct, over-the-top tone, and the 70 pedal delivers that.

Thanks for watching. I'll be posting more videos shortly.

  • Those fuzz sounds are killer. and yes you need to do more demos. i need a fuzz for hendrixy type lead tones. what do you suggest? also, what volume is your super set at?

  • For later Jimi tones (say 1970), the 70 pedal. I gets pretty "spitty." The 69 and AM are kinda of big overdrives. Listen to Are You Experienced live (examples are posted on here on Utube). The 69 and AM do that.

Jimi's sound in 1970 was very distorted, in part because the Marshalls were evolving. Add a silicone fuzz and it gets really wild!!

My Super was set on 2-3 on tis video to prevent the camera mike from overloading. Also, that is the on-board reverb, not the Verbzilla.

  • what song are you playing in the beginning, i know i've herd it...wasn't a song Jimi played at the Fillmore East??

  • Hear My Train A'Comin.

  • cool man.

  • is that the reverse strat or the voodoo strat?

  • mexi strat body with a warmoth neck. parts-a-caster
