I'm thinking that the only reason liberals get in is because everyone believes that NDP never will so they vote for the "next best thing" or at least everyone I've talked to thinks that way. I hope one day that will change. I mean, the man that created universal health care was NDP and was also voted the greatest Canadian. The conservatives and liberals have had enough chances and every single time they fuck up.

Actually, in Canada the Prime Minister is appointed by the Queen's representative, the Governor General. Jack Layton is wrong here when he says Canadians decide who is going to be Prime Minister. Just like all those people who voted 'for obama'. Canada and the USA are moving closer and closer to dictatorship

Canada weathered that disaster mainly due to Martin's handling of the economy in the Chretien govt. (balancing the budget, refusing to deregulate banks, etc)

@ermos Yes, Harper has earned it by running up the largest debt in Canadian history, and using nearly 50 billion dollars of our budget for jets without engines and mega-prison. Not to mention and republican style tax cut to large corporations. It doesn't take a radical leftist to know that these are not good economic strategies.

I don't care who's side your on. That is a terrible shot of Ignatieff with his hand on his hip. And then he basically says what everyone knows he's thinking! He's a Harvard professor. Is he stupid? "At least we get in government!" Thanks for the honesty, Iggy. I'm not a fan of Harper or Layton, but I found myself impressed with Harper's ability to take crap from the other parties and Layton's directness. Can't vote for either one though. At least the NDP has my respect, if not my vote.
