  • I like the part where it talks about What Part of the Gospel Is Optional

  • Not to say that as american christians we have it all together by any means, but this video makes it sound like God is an angry, vengeful God that says "be my slave or die". Where does it talk about his love and compassion, that he wants us to be so radically in love with HIM, that we say "Jesus, I will give up everything I have, not just because you tell me to, but because I'll do whatever it takes to have a better relationship with you"? He wants our heart in the right place, not our actions.

  • @ruhhshelle The salvation story is plain fantasy. No evidence whatsoever. Believe what you want.

  • @ndzoko As you do.

  • @ndzoko God's real and if you're not afraid you don't know the real God and you don't know yourself

  • @ndzoko silly you. that's why it's called faith. Being able to believe in something without seeing the manifestation of it at present. But rest assured, "Every knee will bow and tongue confess to God." (Romans 14:11)

  • Wish this could be applied to the UK too. Loved the last quote - 'Church, we are plan A, and there is no plan B' - I'm putting that on my desktop to remind me.

  • SHOUT HALLELUJAH !

  • Great!!!

  • "What Part of the Gospel Is Optional? "

I would say all of it. Jesus didn't have to come to earth. Jesus didn't have to live a sinless life. Jesus didn't have to die on the cross. And no, Jesus didn't have to rise from the grave.

    That IS the Gospel.

  • 4.5 BILLION UNSAVED? Sadly, I fear its so many more. If you study NOAH (only 8 people) and LOT (only 4 of the 50 required) we can draw a conclusion that roughly 560 million are truly saved. That leaves about 6.5 BILLION unsaved. Whatever the number is, the Church has failed miserably to do the work the Messiah tasked us with (just as Israel failed before it). No one deserves or has earned God's grace (Noah) or mercy (Lot) - but He gives it nonetheless. Praise be to loving God who seeks to save.

  • Moonmaisie. Preaching from the pulpit is not primarily for evangelism. It's for the sheep (congregation) . We aren't suppose to encourage people to embrace Christianity. That is God's job. We are to be faithful to preach the Gospel. Period. God will draw to Him who He draws. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. (John 6:44 ESV)

  • As a non-Christian, that video was, frankly, disturbing.

  • @Dorminay42 Good. It was supposed to be so.

  • Videos like this do not encourage people to embrace christianity.. Agressive preaching merely pushes people away and alienates them. As somebody who has spent much of my life on the outside of christianity I know I once had a (misfounded) view of christianity and the church as a cult-like institution. Although through my christian friends I now know that this is not necessarily the case, I would just like to share my views as a relative outsider looking in.

  • @MoonMaisie hi :) First I want you to know that I'm really not trying to start an argument with you! I have just read David Platt's books and wanted to let you know that he isn't directing this at people who aren't Christ followers..he is directing his books at the "church" and the fact that we have warped what Jesus says into what we think he should say and therefore have strayed from a Christ centered gospel because we don't want to sacrifice our own comforts. I hope that makes sense! :)

  • No. Plan. B.

  • So the plan is to give everything you have to the poor, at which point you are poor, so someone gives everything they have to you, and so on until everyone is poor and has nothing to give to anyone. Got it.

  • @Phantoboy Matthew 6:33 Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you.

But if you dont have the faith in the Living God that He will come through if you follow what He has commanded (i.e care for the poor) then this is not for you to do. The only reason why people will do this is because they love Jesus above all and the treasure hidden in Christ is what they are waiting for and not treasure in this world. God is not forcing you to be a part of it.

  • This is very dramatic, and possibly even justifiable by the principles of the New Testament, but I can't tell exactly what this person is advocating. He's against consumerism, and that's refreshing, but what is he for?

  • the sad thing is... all of us who are typing on our laptops and in our warm homes are lukewarm. It has to do with selling EVERYTHING and trusting God to provide. That's radical. But it actually is not that radical. If we love God with all our hearts, mind and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5). So the source of the problem is not lack of action, but the lack of love in our hearts. Dig in His Word. Seek His face in prayer. Love Him and the fruits of action will be produced.

  • it's conclusive, but it's wrong too, im sry, but to explain this would take too long here, i just want you to know, that jesus wants us to have "normal" lives, but we should worship him in everything we do.

Extra ecclesiam apostolicam catholicam nulla salus est.

  • @38GradFieber hese are just couple of verses where Jesus calls us in a different way of life. To forsake this life for the proclamation of the gospel because our life is already hidden in Christ where He prepares something better for us after this life. But sadly in a America, we subscribed to this middle class Christianity that is nowhere in the Bible. Life is more rewarding as we fully surrender to Christ and what He demands of us.May you realize this in your walk with Him

  • Amen!

  • Haha like "god" cares if you go to church 10 times a week or if you memorize the bible, the bible was created by man to control man with fear. You all live in fear of a god who is only loving. He is not wrathful he is only care and compassion, but man has used the idea of god to twist peoples minds so they do not think for themselves. A sad brainwashed bunch of people.

  • @FlamingThunda Your right about one thing, God doesn't care how much you go to church and if you memorize the bible...if you don't have Christ. My question to you though is this: how do you know God is only loving, caring or compassionate at all? How do you know He even exists to have those qualities? no judgement, I'm a messed up person like any, just forgiven, but when we form our own concept of what God is like, this isn't knowing Him, it's idolatry.

  • @FlamingThunda and saying He has no wrath is saying that He has no concern for justice and is not a fair and Holy judge, which in turn means Christ died for nothing. Basically, we might as well drink, smoke, drug and sex up as much as possible because in the end God doesn't care as long as you are happy and know that He loves you.

  • If you got no money. If you got no house to live in. If you got no car to get around in, how are you going to be able to be any good to anyone? More than likely you will just be a burden on someone else to take care of whether it be family or the tax payer. 2 Thess. 3:10, 1 Tim. 5:8

  • xD

I find it funny that a man that teaches in a book that you should give up all the money you have is selling this book for personal profit. The irony burns.

  • Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement!

  • @WadeCDavis1 Very very very good video... sobering words... definitely the truth... CHURCHES need THIS TRUTH

  • AWESOME Video!

  • AWESOME!!! Praise God. What an awesome word.

  • Great post. Most christians today have done just this, catered the word of God and his DEMANDS(not requests) to fit our ideal lives. We will serve Christ, go to church, tell others about him, and not commit sexual sins when its convenient. The fact of the matter is we will all have to stand before God one day and give an account of our lives. He is going to ask us why we didn't do more and saying I had to work or I had too much to do is not an excuse he will accept.
