If someone who is actually a member doesn't know, what is the likelihood of a non member knowing? As for sitting with one mason, I spend maybe four evenings a week with masons from new members to one or two approaching their 50th year in masonry, and not one has even suggested anything like you have. Where's your proof?

Nearly every body i worked with or for back home in Scotland was a mason, the police, the prison service, the courts, business and government are full of masons, it's no coincidence that Jack Straw (government) rejected a law that would mean masons would have to declare they were members of a secret 'club'.

As for what you say about Jack Straw, the opposite is true, he wanted the disclosure, but the European Court of Human Rights overruled him stating that forcing people to register being a member of a club when its unrelated to work isn't enforceable.

@enddebtslavery Personally I'd feel more likely to have a fair trial from someone who is charged to uphold the law (in the charge to the initiate) to treat all with equality (the level) and to always act in an upright manner (Plumb line). If you feel you didn't get a fair trial then you have recourse to the court of Appeals and the high court. There has yet to be a case where regular masonry has been found to be perverting the course of justice. Keep enjoying your conspiracies.

@32peartree freemasons arent 'common men' though are they. they go there to follow their own god, not some "take my word for it" spirit in the sky a preist preaches about. and no you can't just join like that, but that's the whole point. you don't try to get in just for the sake of it either, but yes it helps if you have connections or something to offer the lodge as well as the brothers. and just so you know, my first uncle who became a freemason had no connections and no offerings.

It's not about wealth or power, in fact its focus is on charity and helping those who are in need. Basically like the Rotary Club, just a bit older, more style and with a series of moral expositions designed to encourage moral and spiritual growth using allegory and symbolism.

@tomal100100 Nope, none of that's true, in fact one of the things you're told is that you are not to expect any material benefit. Now it may be that you'll meet someone at a lodge meeting make friends and help each other out, but that's between to private individuals, nothing to do with Freemasonry as a whole. The closest thing I can think of to what you seem to think is that when a mason is in dire need they can seek help from the lodge Almoner.
