Ryu had natural talent and ability, martial arts always came easily to him. Ken had to work and train harder than Ryu, but because of that hard work and training he was able to equal, maybe even surpass, Ryu in terms of skill. Ken is used for his shoryuken, which is much more powerful and covers a wider range, whereas Ryu has a more powerful hadouken, but his shoryuken has more vertical range. Their specials are also focused on these - Ken doesn't have any hadouken specials, mainly the shoryuken, and Ryu is mainly hadoukens with "Shin Shoryuken". Ken is an american player, although Ken and Ryu did train together, he still lives in america..
