I never knew candles were new growth until this year. But it makes complete sense, and I am starting to see here (and in your video) the candles becoming new branches with baby needles on them. And those flowers are baby cones, another thing I never knew. It'll be fun to watch them grow. So the longer the candle, the faster the growth. Some pines seem to grow very fast.

Yeah, I totally screwed up when I was talking about the pine tree reproduction process. But I think I got the information right in the end.
