  • Ultimo Dragon I won the Jcrown championship just previous to this match

  • fuck tna

    fuck wwe

    & especailly wcw.

  • WCW Cruiserweights> WCW

  • It's a shame both these guys didn't go anywhere in WCW

  • Ultimo with all those belts was awesome.

  • Tony Schitvoni worst announcer.

  • @welcomehome901:I totally agree with you,he is the absolute worst announcer in the world of pro wrestling, thank you for posting it,not many people do.

  • I hate Ultimo Dragon. Dude has no psychology at all. Just pulls random moves out his ass.

  • no matter how many times I watch this match, I only see 7 titles with the Ultimo Dragon. Sonny Onoo carries 2, 2 on Dragon's waist, two around his shoulder and he carries 1.

  • @jdanteb WWF probably wouldn't let theirs be shown on WCW TV

  • @jdanteb J Crown wasn't there i think

  • @Jonoridge the J Crown was 8 titles. the match was billed as 9 belts on the line. Malenko had one Dragon had the other 8. The J-Crown was a tournament to combine all the cruiserweight and light-heavyweight titles

  • @jdanteb oh ok

  • @jdanteb yup and ultimo is the only man to have them all at once

  • @jdanteb the one not shown is the UWA title

  • why won't TNA copy what TNA got right

  • Vimce McMahon killed Pro Wrestling.

  • mike tenay is such a legit commentator. he definitely adds to the realism factor. dragon and malenko..my two favorite wcw cruiserweights

  • listen to the pop for malenko, damn wrestling used to be good, even the cruiserweights were over as hell

  • 4:36 - =)

  • lets see if i can name the belts of Ultimo Dragon:

UWA (Mexico) World Junior Light Heavyweight title, British Commonwealth Junior Heavyweight title, NWA World Junior Heavyweight title, WWF (UWA Mexico) World Light Heavyweight title, UWA (Mexico) World Welterweight title, WAR (Japan) International Junior Heavyweight title, IWGP (Japan) Junior Heavyweight title,

WWA (Mexico) World Junior Light Heavyweight title, All won from the Great Sasuke October 11.1996.

  • @xaer0knight im not completely sure if these are all there, but another title is WAR (Japan) World Six Man Tag Team titles w/Nobutaka Araya & Genichiro Tenryu defeating Bam Bam Bigelow & Hiromichi Fuyuki & Youji Anjoh (October 28, 1996)

  • I'm not sure if this is actually what I'm seeing. But I do believe that I'm seeing the WWF Lightweight Championship on Ultimo Dragon o.O

  • @HowTingz your not crazy, WWF had a contract with UWA at the time, they tried to make a Lucha Libra style show and talent Exchange.

  • @xaer0knight

Well I guess that explains Aguilla/Essa Rios then...

  • The one thing i disliked about WCW, very minute detail. It was Ultimo Dragon, translating to Last Dragon. not THE ULTIMATE DRAGON. But aside from this, i do miss WCW and the WWE attitude era very much.

  • I hate the nick names Man of A Thousand Holds and and Ice Man. He's the Shooter.

Also, it's good they had Tenay in the bullpen, because Tony, Dusty and Heenan just didn't have the vocabulary to keep up with Dragon and Malenko.

  • Two of the greatest westlers of all time.

  • I wish Malenko would have went for a bigger push..but I think he DUCKED out...he is a jobber once he reaches WWF/WWE...He was outshined by Benoit and Eddie, Eddie being a BAD Guy, and Benoit being a RAGER (HIs Videos his music, his over all performance was more "Intense"). Alot of wrestlers with Dean's style...just don't have flair. You can be as "ImpressivE" as you want, but with no Flair/Charisma...you don't last. WE Might Appreciate Malenko, but he doesn't fill seats.

  • @MafiaManMike I'd disagree, because as a kid Dean Malenko was one of my favorites. I remember watching Nitro with my friend across the street and we'd put his kid sister in the Texas Cloverleaf. Good times. lol

  • @jsgamer21986 xD My friends used to do that shit all the time. -sniffle- I miss those days. My Two buddies were complete opposites, The smaller one was a big HBK Fan, His Brother was a Bret Hart fan, they always fought each other, I was a Hawk/Animal Fan...We'd get into a Pool or some shit and throw each other around. xD I had a Sharpshooter locked onto me while under water...UGH still taste the chlorine. LMAO

  • I remember those days. The days back before pro wrestling went extinct.

  • it is superb

  • I thaught Dean had the best theme song.

  • thes two put on for wcw.Best match that year right here baby!!!!!!!!

  • Kane was trained from dean malenko

  • @RSMarley Sure bout that??

  • Lmfao? Ultimo Dragon had 9 titles at once? That my friend, is FUCKING INSANE!

  • ugh WCW had it so right here, this really felt big time, even though it was "JUST" a cruiserweight match. You won't find this in WWE or TNA.

  • @BCEagle73 TNA used to have stuff like this with the X-Division a few years ago. Now the X-Division belt is around the waist of a Jersey Shore impersonator, rather than Jay Lethal or AJ Styles.

  • i wonder if malenko has training in real Catch as Catch Can wrestling. I would venture to guess he does.

  • Wow are you serious? This great classic match isn't on the Starrcade DVD? I still have this recorded on VHS from 1996.

  • @TheWrestlingMemories It might have been, if Vince McMahon was actually interested in wrestling instead of profit......

  • classic

  • malenko= hard ass worker

  • dean malenko= best "WRESTLER" ever

  • what i love about this match is that it is one of the few times I have ever seen ultimo dragon work more of a heel style

  • Forget Chuck Liddell, Dean Malenko is the REAL Ice Man

  • Ultimo Dragon is the best

  • Great match!! two very talented wrestlers I always liked Dean Malenko's music

  • great upload

  • This is a funny feeling, watching the wrestling is actually interesting, telling a story : )

I feel like I haven't watched a proper wrestling match until now :D My first Malenko match!

  • @cpthurme This was your first Malenko match? Oh man, try and find his stuff with Eddie Guererro. IF you can find their 2/3 Falls match in ECW. THAT match was a classic

  • @CapTashman Cheers : )

  • @cpthurme if you cant find that match i have it ill try an upload it

  • @cpthurme soak up every malenko match you can. also if you haven't seen em already every flair vs sting match. and if you want the very best in technical wrestling you'll want to look up Sakuraba vs Tamura in the UWFi Japanese promotion (they also have an MMA match aswell, though not as entertaining as beat up as Saku was at the time, fighting with a broken arm.)

  • @panther2552 No offense but every Flair vs Sting match was exactlay the same thing, Sting no selling a bunch of chops.

  • @sebastianhoward65 yeah, which made their first encounter legendary. but i agree, after their first two matches, I could care less about the Flair/Sting series.

  • I remember on Nitro there was a 6 man cruiserweight battle royale one night featuring some of the best luchadors of WCW. I think there was Juventud Guerrera, Psychosis, Mysterio and La Parka although I am unsure if Ultimo Dragon was in it... If somebody knows what I am talking about, please upload it on youtube! It was the best cruiserweight match I've ever seen. I remember at some point the wrestlers would all jump from the turnbuckle one after the other it was extremely spectacular!!!

  • WCW had a great cruiserweight stable. Can't forget all the luchadores either! La Parka FTW!!!!

  • Southern American wrestling crowds are the greatest..always so active..helped create WCW's greatest memories.

Wrestling crowds in Canada, Southern California (San Diego), Mexico and Japan are excellent as well.

New York and Philadelphia are probably the most over-rated out there.

  • I disagree wholeheartedly

    MSG always brought the heat

Anywhere in that area is good - Byrne arena, Knickerbocker, etc.

  • Anybody else hate the american crowd?

  • @dadankness Japanese crowds treat Puro like a real sport, thats why there silent. There enjoying the pure competition of it.

  • This y WCW was so great, cause look at who's startin a PPV, 2 great wrestler's.

  • too bad malenko never was a world champion...

  • Yeah.. but he has the respect of a world champion

  • damn, the World Cruiserweight title and the J-Crown

  • I remember watching this match on tv, one of the best matches ever! Ultimo Dragon was my favorite but dean malenko is great too!

  • WCW was the shyt in 1996.

If Eric would have stayed focused he could have shut down Mcmahon!

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids I totally agree. They had all the recources and all the talent to make it happen..but things are strange in the wrestling world. Still a great piece of history right here. :)

  • 0:45 is fail

  • @HollywoodKendrick Randy who? He was a nobody when this match took place..

  • dragon was one of the best wreslters

  • ULTIMO DRAGON!

  • This was an AWSOME match. Vince McMahon had two wrestling diamonds....and he shat on BOTH of them. I would rather watch smaller wrestlers who could wrestle than some huge, slow, clumsy, steroid pumped brute who can do anything. Thanks for posting.

  • I agree...This match was wonderful...

  • good thang they still got ray

  • dean malenko proved to american fans that cruiserweight wrestling wasn't just about high flying spots. ultimo dragon was the most well rounded cruiserweight at the time.

  • "Ultimate Dragon"

WCW graphics department, I am disappoint.

  • @roryjamesoconnell When he first showed up in wcw he was going by the Ultimate Dragon

  • I remember YouTube back before it had Dean Malenko videos... it was truly a dark time.

  • Malenko,Eddie and Chavo Guerrero, Jericho, Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon, Juventud Gurrera psychosis Chris Bennot and billy kidman. made the cruser weight tittle protegeous hell I wanted to be cruser weight champion. this gave normal guy hope that if you worked hard you could be a champion. If I forgot some cruser weights my bad.

  • question what were the titles the ultimo dragon had with him. I mean i noticed the IWGP junior heavyweight title and 2 NWA jr titles but what were the others?

  • the whole 8 belts Dragon had were:

    IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title

    NWA World Jr. Heavyweight title

    WWA Jr. Light Heavyweight title

    WAR Jr. Heavyweight title

    British Jr. Heavyweight title

    UWA Light Heavyweight title

    NWA Welterweight title

and (belive it or not) the WWF Light Heavyweight title

  • @exe2517 That's one funny thing about the J-Crown. WWF didn't even know at this point that their Light heavyweight title was in Japan and later in WCW...:D

  • @JohnACorp782 It was about a year later that WWF realized that the Light heavyweight Title was in Japan and they demanded it back. The Jcrown Champion at the time returned the belt and vacated all but one of the other championships. This was the end of the JCrown. Yet another thing WWF brought to an end.

  • @MrMolmem True, and after they introduced their own Lightweight division, they didn't do much with it...WWF/WWE and light-/cruiserweights just don't mix..

  • dragon is japanese....rey is mexican...they are not the same

  • how can rey be mexican if he was born in the u.s.?

  • Malenko, Guerrero, Jericho, Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon, Juventud Gurrera, etc.--WCW cruiserweight division had some of the best wrestling ever from '96-'98

  • ...DUDE!!! You forgot psychosis and billy kidman!!!

  • Dean Malenko was my fave in WCW out of all da cruiserweights he showed that u didn't have to do dangerous high flying moves to be an entertaining cruiserweight

  • Even though Malenko could bust out high flying moves if he wanted to, he just didn't have to.

  • Malenko did high flying moves here and there. I've seen him do headscissors and planchas.

  • FUCKING SPOT ON! hes one of my top five all time wrestlers

  • WCW always had good cruiserweights, and I think they got their start with good cruiserweights by taking Malenko (who is awesome), Jericho (who's pretty good), and Eddie Guerrero (who's awesome) from ECW

  • I never thought much of Jericho until he turned heel in WCW.. he was too ordinary, typical pretty boy face who seemed to be too big for the cruiserweights and too small for the heavyweights. Malenko, Rey Mysterio and Ultimo Dragon put the WCW cruiserweight division on the map imo. Eddy Guerrero was wrestling more in the heavyweight division at the time the cruiserweight division was getting started.

  • Eddie I should say.

  • Malenko's Theme was the Truth

  • I agree

  • The Iceman...love that nickname.

  • ultimo dragon had so many belts lmao

  • Look at the focus in dean malenko's eyes.He looks as if this is serious business.Todays stars lack this intensity. Also, for WCW to say Malenko wasnt over, thats highly ignorant.Listen to the people reaction when he appears. These were the real days of pro wrestling

  • 3:40 Dusty Rhodes says Cruiserweight/Heavyweight title

  • can some1 tell me all those belts?

  • British Commonwealth Junior Heavyweight Championship

    IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship

    NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship

    NWA World Welterweight Championship

UWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Championship

    WAR International Junior Heavyweight Championship

WWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Championship

    WWF Light Heavyweight Championship

  • The Entrance of Dragon really tells how great of a wrestler Ultamo Dragon is

  • How does his entrance show how great of a "wrestler" he is?

  • 2 of the greatest cruiserweights. Ultimo Dragon was definitely the best all around cruiserweight at that time & Dean Malenko was living proof that cruiserweight didn't mean high flier, one of the best technical wrestlers.

  • i know, wrestliers like malenko is what wwe need · im tired of see wrestlers like batista doing powerbombs, spinebusters, scoop slams and all that shit.

  • thats not fair!! you cant have that many titles! if hes that good, he should be at a level by himself.

  • My god Dean's work is seamless, just great.

  • Hogan and Piper.... biggest match of the decade?

  • You know what really funny about this match that WCW failed to explain. Dean had a WCW Title, while as one of the belts that make up the dragon's J-Crown is a WWF belt. By the way did the dragon come out with all eight belts, I only saw seven.

  • Comment removed

  • Well if you heard from 5:15 to 5:32 Tenay talks about the J Crown and I did a little research and found out that the winner of the J Crown got eight title belts. However I don't want to argue, it is obvious that he came to the ring with seven title belts. I do want to know if one of them was the WWF Light Heavyweight title, and for anyone wondering the red strap belt that Taka had was not the WWF Light Heayweight title belt used during the triple crown.

  • no sense in arguing this match is awesome

  • Agreed No doubt

  • He actually Had the WWF light-heavyweight title but the WWF/WWE gave hime a Full replica of it but that title didn't have the WWF Symbol on it. So no one would know about it..

  • i think the reason its not on starcade dvd is because of the bad commentating

  • They could easily do an alternate commentary with Dean. I would love to hear his thoughts on this match.

  • yeah its just to bad that WWE didn;t utilize Ultimo the way they could have. In honest they could have tried a hell of alot more then what they did

  • the real reason is because they are not real big names i mean come nash and goldberg are on that dvd
