I appreciate the entire video from wrapping ourselves in the flag, holding it up in pride, spinning deliriously in fascination and in awe of what the flag truly means, etc, but I must say that there was one part that really struck me.
It's the scene where she's running down the dirt road. Why did that strike me? Well, she's holding the flag upside down, which indicates our nation in distress! And that she truly is!
Watching this and knowing you've served in Iraq....imagining what your eyes have seen...your heart has felt...
This makes me hope that we We The People come together in the honor of our great country and in unity to preserve our country and to learn of it's greatness and to teach our young of it's true greatness from it's honorable founding and to the honor of the men and women like yourself who live the code not just speak it.
I only wish that in the last seen of the video she had not been running holding the flag unside down for this is most often taken as a sighn of distress. Of course its not the flag thats so important but rather how america is today the benchmark to measure freedom and dreams. Often falling short of target america has made many mistakes, yet with the valor and courage so often given in the most tragic of days I must feel that somehow God himself has had his eye upon that nation.

This is a beautiful video, with a lot of symbolism. To me it represents the joy of freedom, with the flag flying in the breeze. The girl is Lady Liberty, dressed in white, she represents the purity, innocence, and idealism of the America we once had. She wraps the flag around her the way we Americans tend to wrap our patriotic pride around us. Her sadness at the end, and the drooping, upside down flag, is a good analogy for the sadness of an America at war and in crisis.
God Bless America and her wonderful people. As an Aussi I understand that I would not have had a future in this country of mine if not for the bravery of American and Australian/New Zealand troops fighting together to save our country in WWII. I am one Australian who will never forget and continue to share the ideals and values of the American people! BTW Sorry our weak new government cut and ran from Iraq (not a move I personally approve of or voted for). We do remain in Afghanistan however.
Yeah I was sad to see the Australians get pulled out of the base I'm currently stationed at. We loved hanging out with them. All the Australians were very friendly and we got along with them great. =)

At a time when Freedom of Speech is being stomped on by our media, it is humbling to remember that our Troops are doing the heavy lifting for us all, and in harms way.

Patriotism is dangerously strong medicine. If you start worshiping your flag rather than simply honouring it, you can end up believing that men from your country have more inherent worth than a man from another country. I find this video unsettlingly close to flag worship.

i dont agree. Some people only speak an other language, and many are imigrants coming to america, simply to seek a better life. It's true about the pearl harbor part. But you do realize we took out Japan singel handedly... Also D-day saved most people in Normandy. 3 Fleets 1st and 2nd almost totally destroyed by AA built by French people. We still fought to protect you. We didn't do it alone... Nobody did. It was called a World War for a reason. So please no side taking here...

Actually it was the Communist Russians that broke the Nazi menace in WW2 replacing one form of totalitarianism for another for most of Eastern Europe. The Yanks did (eventually) kick the Japs arses good and proper. The Poms & Empire held the fort till they got there. America will make up for being late to World Wars 1 and 2 by being BANG on time for WW3.

people arent being very respectful of this video considering it has everything to do with our nation (if you are an american, and if not you can still appreciate the beauty of a nice film).
For the people who comment about the race... that is missing the point. The young woman in the film isnt supposed to be the focus point of this, at least from what i can tell(my apologies if thats incorrect. But i want to say, you did a wonderful job. As an American who happens to be white, blonde and female, who cares? So its bit of stereotype, like the Barbie image, but she is a pretty girl, and the setting around her is gorgeous. I think a remake with a bunch of different people of all races, passing the flag back and forth, would be nice. But this is lovely.

i dont agree. Some people only speak an other language, and many are imigrants coming to america, simply to seek a better life. By the way, the language you speak doesn't matter anymore than the color of your skin. Sure, it's rude to speak a different language to someone else just as it's rude to whisper into someone's ear when you have(or are) company, but the language you speak is also part of your culture and represents part of who you are, and i don't think ppl should be judged by that.

I thought it was a beautiful video but I have problems with her wrapping herself up in the flag and moreso, allowing it to touch the ground, which is not proper handling of it. A lot of people have died for what we believe in in the US so to have the flag touch the ground is desecrating it. Thanks for asking.

I don't know if it was just my naivety, but i remember when i had a genuine liking for America because of what it stood for. i'm sure it wasn't.
