i remember listening to the avett brother's first album with a dear friend of mine.. he said, "They'll never make it big". i said, "as good as they are, your probably right." wow do we look like idiots.
Love the Avett Brothers, and we can all apply the well considered, beautifully woven words to our personal situations. The raw beauty combined with the perfect harmonies is unsurpassed. In talking of things unknown, Ten Thousand Words, I see my once-upon a recent time friend who I cared for deeply. Self-appointed expert, dear wordsmith, have you figured out the appropriate placement of hands & hearts? I miss you, I don't mss the manner in which you left our friendship... we all paid dearly.
I think people who believe that this is the only real music out their are very subjective and ignorant. Yes, this band is extremely talented but just because they play with banjos, guitars doesn't always mean its real music. Just as these artist work hard, so too do mainstream artists and even double. Oldies don't always equal real music essentially. Real music just means music that strongly appeals and affects you emotionally and whether you can get that from this band or Justin Beiber.
@ogechinigerian Well said, but at the same time, mainstream music doesn't seem to have the same effect on people as this might. Seeing as most mainstream is the same as the song before it. True, mainstream artists work hard, but I don't think they actually enjoy what they do as much as these guys do. They love what they do, and surely don't do it for the money.
@ogechinigerian Well, for one thing, I have not heard one song from this band that is about sex, drugs, or drinking. Now, look at mainstream and you can't find anything but. Granted, there are a few songs that aren't about that, but this also isn't overly edited with autotune craziness. It's raw.
I was blessed with finding out about these guys at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA 6 years ago when there was only 35 people in the audience. Changed my life ever since!!!
Honestly, I saw them on the Grammys, along with Mumford and Sons, they are amazing. Their songs sorta speak to something inside you that's always there with you.
I love these guys and want them to be very successful, but at the same time i dont want them to go mainstream because that always ruins a god, pure, band. plus all the annoying people start liking them
@allman21 great post man, i felt the same way when i first started listening to these guys (about 10 months ago also). the allman brothers ain't too shabby either- i'm assuming that's where you got your username
Very James Taylor-esque. Have this on a playlist and thought it was James Taylor for a second during the intro.
Love these guys, I hope they have tons of success but at the same time I hope they never go mainstream (which looks like they might be heading that way).
These guys are amazing. When I first listened to them I was sure they'd be in their middle or old age because of the professional and perfectionist sound that usually stems from decades of practice. It's hard to believe how young they are. And seeing them perform at Summercamp 2010 in 90 degree weather (in direct sunlight), hopping around onstage and STILL maintaining perfect pitch and quality was indescribable. There really is no group quite like this one.
@lot24 listen to mumford and sons, there the british version on avett brothers! They are both awesome. Listen to little lion man, liar, awake my soul anything off the sign no more album
@joshuawayne55 i hate when people talk about mumford and sons, because at my school they do it 24/7. when i say anything about folk they're like: "oh em gee lyke mumford and sons?" i'm like "no..like iron and wine, the avett brothers, bon iver...you know actual good folk...?" to be perfectly honest i really don't see what is so amazing about mumford and sons they're lyrics are marginally good, they're melody's played before
their concert's tonight at the state fair. but sadly i cant go its a school night even though i literally live 3 blocks from the stage their playing on tonight ! damn my parents for makeing me so miserable!
i saw these guys on jimmy kimmel live the other night and immediately picked up this cd. i LOVE it. this is a great tune, amongst many other great tunes.
Ive been missing out since september man! I have been so out of touch I didn't even know there was a new CD! I love it once again. They can't make a bad song.
Awesome song. The guitar work is amazing. Plus I really like how their songs always have these nice vocal harmonies and how well balanced is their instrumentation, specially the other instruments (beside guitars) entrances. I'd like to invite anyone into this kind of music to check my band's music on this channel. We're just looking to be heard by people that listen to music we consider great. So if you have a little time check us out. We'd appreciate that. Thanks & Peace
Ive been listening to the avett brothers for about 4 years now ,, i have 8 of their albums, and i still listen to them on a daily basis. you cant get tired of them. they are the true definition of musicians. To all of you who have just discovered this band,, welcome to the family. KENTUCKY LOVES THE AVETT BROTHERS
i've been looking at avett video comments all night and it amazes me how many comments i've seen that say that you've just recently started listening to the avett brothers and already love them. this is what they do to you. i haven't heard something so good in a looong time. possibly ever. this is what music is. the avett brothers are a breath of fresh air in todays music.
the lyrics are amazing .. it's like the nmore you hear them it grows on you ..and the lyrics..they immdiately connect.. "Aint it like most people? Im no different
We love to talk on things we dont know about"
..after a long time i hearing such genuine lyrics..
this song is so damn amazingly beautiful. just found out about these guys literally an hour ago and can't believe it took me this long. thank god for youtube being able to open your eyes to current good music instead of that taylor swift, chris brown, MTV and typcial CMT shite.
@allman21 totally agree, except I found about them 2 hours ago on American Recordings official website. actually, I browse through catalog of labels for the music I love and their pages became my primary source of new music.
Going to see them New Years in Atlanta! Oh my GOD! I have missed them all too many times. Not this time. This is a wonderful song. "Aint's like most people I'm not different, we love to talk on things we don't know about"
Can't wait to see them at Bonaroo!

"But their good times come with prices,
and I can't believe it when I hear the jokes they make.
At anyone's expenses 'cept their own,
would they laugh, if they knew who paid?" - Wow!!!! What an amazing line.

And Taylor Swift is a bad example if you want to insult modern pop music, since she writes all her own songs, unlike many.
