  • reviewed my ass theres no way that thing passed a safety inspection. too bad the only way they'd get a new one is if that thing collapses.

  • i aggree. there should be signs that say when a bridge has been inspected. i live in pomeroy,oh near US 33 and the only major project they are doing in the area is finishing the Nelsonville bypass, it was supost to be done sooner but the state ran out of money for the project and they have only done the digging and the foundations for the bypass. Now with the Stimulus, they can finish the bypass hopefully by 2011 and the project is receiving over $150,000,000 so its all not that bad

  • I live in Minneapolis and just missed the bridge collapse up here by minutes. The thought of unsafe bridges terrifies me now. I think that it should be required that a sign is posted before you cross the bridge that states the last time it was inspected and what the rating was of the inspection. At least then people would have the information they need before crossing the bridge and it would put pressure on the govt to fix those that are potentially dangerous.

  • I live in Berkeley County WV. That bridge is bad. However, the amount of traffic that goes over it is very very light. and the few dozen people that have to traverse it all have secondary routes, that for the most part are just as, if not more convenient.

If that bridge in VA is where I think it is, it has a much higher traffic count. I believe that one is on old route 50 less than 30 minutes outside of DC.

  • $100 Billion Dollars?

    FUCK!!!!!!!!!

and the news are getting the money? Thats like getting a second car wash on a car that just had a wash taken.

  • We probably will need to look to private road owners to provide good roads. Like anything the government does, their roads not always properly maintained. The government is way too slow to relieve congestion, such as in Knoxville, Tennessee where they are always working of I-40 and won't build a real bypass around the north side (or south side) of the city. When I travel, I try to miss the big cities at the three rush hours, but it is hard to do. The economic downturn has helped reduce trfc.
