I´m amazed at how her grace and fluidity didn´t suffer because of the immense speed. One of the best pure Kathak vidz on YT! Wonderful! If thisi s Lucknow gharana style then that´s the one I want to focus on.
@Khwaab Hi again Khwaab! The main difference between the Lucknow gharana and the Jaipur gharana is that the latter has heavier emphasis on percussive footwork, while the former has a lot of focus on the storytelling aspects (although this video is pretty heavy on footwork). Just wanted to clarify that in case it was the footwork you enjoyed, you'd be equally, if not *more* happy, learning in Jaipur style.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! Oh I see...but what I enjoy the most is really the swirls/chakkar, even if I get mad dizzy even after two ;). I´m not too keen on footwork because I think it´s hard to understand it.Nevertheless, footwork is always enjoyable when I´m able to do it :).
Thanks again pal, I appreciate it! I´d love to try all the styles some day, and then decide after trying and seeing more.
@Khwaab You're most welcome :) I should have clarified that by footwork I meant the technical aspects of the dance (which this video showcases). That is what Jaipur gharana usually focuses on, while Lucknow pieces are more about expressions and drama/storytelling. I am trained/teach in Lucknow style, so I have a soft spot for it, but like you said, try everything and see what you like :)
