@G0Far I recall it refusing to take a kickdown lol. But yeah after selling this car, my dad used a 2004 Grand Marquis of over a yr which I posted many vids of & did a 0-80 vid. Sold that & has had an 01 Volvo S40 1.9T for the last 5 month or so. I miss driving his comfy Grand Marquis but the S40 is so damn zippy as its the little rocket lol
I had a 2000 Malibu LS, that got sucky gas mileage I mean it was piss poor.. I lucked out and bought my 93 TC and it has 165k on it and it does way better on the highway and IN TOWN than my v/6 did hands down.. I don't need speed, I need better gas mileage and not to mention that the ride quality is better in a TC than a Malibu too. Ill never go back to a Malibu.. its an older car but I love it and I live in FL too and go to Illinois frequently..
Therein lies the problem of why it's so slow---it's a V8-powered car, naturally, but it only pumps out a very meager-for-this-size-of-a-car 210HP & 275 lb.-ft. Torque...I mean, the thing is a two-ton land yacht that's got an engine easily comparable to a V6 in terms of horsepower/torque
And yet it had rather decent MPG. On long str8 Hwy trips from Orlando to Miami, I calculated about 24.5 MPG, only stopping for tolls & 1/2 way in Ft Pierce on the turnpike. A V6 from then would of sucked. A Modern V6 in this car would've got bout the same numbers.
A bit Better in the 04 Grand Marquis which replaced my Town Car, 25.3 MPG str8 Highway on the same route.
They're yachts but here in FL where I put 750 miles a week, Theres no other ride more comfy than these.
not sure if you would know, but my dad has this kinda car. its really kick ass. But here latley its been stalling a little when he presses the gas hard. any idea on what it could be?
Well I have a 1996 Linclon Town car. That i bought 8 years ago and I love it so fuck buying a prius yall can keep them cars because all I will ever drive is a big t car or cadillac so boo ya.
It's OK ( Kinda 80's style but it's OK ) , It's good to know # by # how fast 1 goes without guessing.
Fords mistake for many years was not including RPM's. In this vid, I'd guess I reached 4400 RPM by how the engine sounded. It wasn't until 2006 added it to the TC.
I may put a small tach somewhere cause I like to know the RPM's.
Sure is hell doesn't feel like these cars are 14 years old.
The Explorer I have is in mint shape & got it $550 because I got it during the time Gas was almost $5 & because RWD in New England Winters Don't match. 158K- Now 185k. Best $550 ever spent. Same goes for this TC which was bought around the same time for $900. Got it with 103k & now has 154k & still strong. Registration was more Expensive than the Explorer LOL. Won't sell for nothing, more expensive to find the same again.
Better than spending $28,000+ for a damn Prius during the $5 a gallon days.
If Gas were still that expensive, It still would be cheaper to own the Explorer & TC for 5 years vs the Prius. And the Many People out there who clunked perfectly good running cars so they end up with new debts for owning a new car they may have troubles paying for. I'm sure theres been many repos since then LOL.
@Intechdude300 here here dude......your right, it would be a pain the ass to get a Prius, which looks like an ugly, lopsided, piece of cheese....the TC, Grand Marquis, and Crown Vic are all pretty cheap to get when they've been used, yet they all are great-lookin' sedans....personally, I'll take a Crown Vic over a Prius any day....
@Intechdude300 thats what i did. i like my rpms too. and the that bloody mass airflow messed with my car forever til we figured it out. i hate that bloody mass airflow lol nice car btw
If anything, mine shifts harder with the new Mafs because it now has power.
If you feel the car has good overall power taking off and u're only issue shifting, it could be transmission related. 1995-1997 4R70W Transmissions in these cars had durability issues.
Have you had the Transmission fluid changed lately??? Maybe a good flush can help, and if you do make sure Mercon V--also called Mercon 5 is used. This fluid is much better than the old Dexron Mercon 3.
In pt. 1, from 1-30 I had to have it floored and then u really hear the RPM pick up after that. In pt.2, it took a bit for RPM to climb.
Yeah sometimes it chokes up especially when picking up speed from 2nd gear. Sometimes it works great and briefly it runs like $h!t when u least expect it.
The only way it mostly runs decent is using Premium fuel. On 89, it pings like 100's of glass marbles dropping @ the same time and it chokes up more frequently
It's faster then a ricer Civic. Be happy.

If you want it to be fast, your problem isn't power, it's the car you picked to start with, duh. Want fast!, sell it, but a sportier car.

@aruhs91 Who's talking about a sports car & trying to be fast, I'm just demonstrating the reaction of a car when a mafs sensor is messed up.
Intechdude300 3 months ago
@aruhs91 coolgames is, and michael, talking about lack of power :) and besides no offense, looking at that acceleration time, that was way slow...

I have a 1995 Town Car. When I get on it real hard, it doesnt shift right, and sometimes it's rather slow.
Can the MAF cause bad shifting?
It only does it when I floor it or its close to floored. The RPM's just keep climbing really high until it shifts hard at like 45 into 2nd gear.
And if I hold it to the floor, it doesnt like to go into OD...it just keeps revving and I have to let off the gas to make it shift.
